Yes—players are using shared Link Trade codes to find partners for trade evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The codes are community conventions, not an official Nintendo list, and matching with a stranger does not guarantee they will trade your Pokémon back.
How Link Trade matching works
Nintendo’s Link Trade instructions say two players can connect locally or over the internet by entering the same eight-digit code. Once matched, each player selects a Pokémon and confirms the exchange.

- Open the multiplayer menu and choose Link Trade.
- Select Nearby Players for a local trade or Faraway Players to trade online.
- Enter the same eight-digit code as your partner and wait for the match.
- Choose the Pokémon to trade, check the selection, and confirm the exchange.
For online play, each system needs a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A or the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, updated to the latest version, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership, according to Nintendo.
Community codes reported for trade evolutions
Community guides describe a convention of repeating the target Pokémon’s Pokédex number twice. These examples are reported by players; Nintendo explains how to use a code but does not assign universal species codes.

The examples appear in All Things How’s community code guide; a March 2026 Reddit discussion also describes the repeated-number approach for Kadabra. A post on the Pokémon Forums shows players arranging evolution trades and sharing a code, but its example should not be treated as a universal species code.
Choose between a public code and a trusted partner

A community video guide warns that a public match is not a guaranteed trade-back service. Use one only if you are comfortable with the exchange, or arrange a return trade directly with someone you trust.

Remember held items for item-based evolutions
Some trade evolutions also require the Pokémon to hold a specific item when traded. Check the requirement for the particular Pokémon before matching; the trade alone may not be enough to trigger its evolution.
