Pokémon Legends: Z-A is no longer an unreleased game: it launched on October 16, 2025. Before launch, some online commenters and media coverage criticized the visuals in its March 2025 trailer, including its apparent frame rate. The available examples do not establish that particular cutscenes were the target or that the reaction represented fans as a whole.
What was criticized before launch?
The clearest documented criticism concerns the trailer’s visual presentation, not a verified set of cutscenes. In a Reddit discussion, individual commenters described the trailer as “running at 15FPS” and compared its textures and environment models unfavorably to those of a PS2-era game. Those remarks reflect user opinions; they are not measured frame-rate results or representative polling. Reddit discussion
TechRadar’s contemporaneous coverage of the trailer also described its visuals as dated. Taken together, these examples support the narrower point that some viewers criticized how the trailer looked. They do not establish a broad fan consensus or confirm that cutscenes specifically prompted the response. TechRadar coverage
Why the headline needs an update
The “isn’t even out yet” framing applied before the game’s release, but Pokémon Legends: Z-A came out on October 16, 2025. It is now more accurate to describe the criticism as pre-release reaction to a trailer than as a current debate about an unreleased game. Official Pokémon release information
