How to find Wild Zone 2
Wild Zone 2 is in Vert Plaza, off Vernal Avenue, southeast of Prism Tower. To reach it, head about halfway up Vernal Avenue to Café Woof, then take the eastern path beside the water down to the plaza. This route is described by Nintendo Life; Serebii lists the zone as available beginning with Main Mission 5. Nintendo Life describes access more broadly as opening once the story allows freer exploration.

Wild Zone 2 Pokémon and where to look
The following locations and timing are reported by the guides, not guaranteed spawn rules. Check the terrain cue associated with the Pokémon you want:
| Pokémon | Where or when to search |
|---|---|
| Budew | Grass near the entrances |
| Magikarp | In the water; listed as appearing all day |
| Patrat | On rocks |
| Kakuna | In trees |
| Binacle | Close to the water |
| Staryu | In the water at night |
Nintendo Life and Serebii list several of these encounters, while Nintendo Life specifies Magikarp’s all-day and Staryu’s nighttime conditions. Gamer Guides cautions that a target may be absent on a particular visit. If you do not see it, leave and re-enter the zone; for Staryu, return at night. The guides do not establish fixed encounter odds.
#1 Best Overall
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Alpha Pokémon: reported location and access
Nintendo Life recommends being around level 6 for the zone. It reports Alpha Magikarp and Alpha Staryu at the southeastern bank, reached by following the perimeter and using Rock Smash. The guide gives example levels of 30 for Alpha Magikarp and 32 for Alpha Staryu, but notes that levels can vary; treat those as reported encounters, not fixed values. It also says the Alpha encounters may become possible after completing Emma’s requests, and that Alpha Staryu appears there only at night. These conditions are guide reports, not a guaranteed schedule.
Alpha Pokémon are especially powerful and difficult to catch, and may chase and attack after noticing you, according to The Pokémon Company International’s Pokémon Legends: Z-A adventure guidance, published July 22, 2025. Prepare for a fight rather than assuming an Alpha can be caught immediately.

How to approach and catch a target
The Pokémon Company International advises: “Some Pokémon will flee immediately if they spot you, so hide out of sight or approach from behind to make yourself harder to notice.” If a Pokémon may flee, use cover or approach from behind before throwing a Poké Ball. You can also weaken a wild Pokémon in battle: the official guidance says lowering its HP makes it easier to catch.
