How do you unlock Wild Zone 8?
Nintendo Life reports that Wild Zone 8 unlocks alongside Wild Zone 7 at Rank F in the Z-A Royale, after you defeat Vinnie. The guide places this around Main Mission 10. Treat this as the guide’s reported progression route, rather than an official confirmation of a universal mission number.
Which Pokémon appear in Wild Zone 8?
Nintendo Life lists six regular Pokémon and describes where to look for them:
#1 Best Overall
- Venture into Hyperspace Lumiose in this additional story content that can be accessed after completing the main game
- Work with the mysterious baker, Ansha, to make donuts that awaken the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa’s power and grant you and your Pokémon a variety of useful effects
- Join Team MZ and the Mega Evolution Successor, Korrina, to investigate Hyperspace Lumiose, the otherworldly home to rare and hyper-strong Pokémon
- Discover new Mega Evolutions such as Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur
- Claim Holo-X and Holo-Y in-game apparel items, which you can wear as soon as you are able to customize your character’s look and outfit in the main game
- Numel: walks around grassy patches.
- Machop: walks around on dirt.
- Drilbur: hides in the central dirt mounds.
- Sandile: swims around the outer sand ring.
- Krokorok: swims around the outer sand ring.
- Gible: a rare Pokémon hiding in dirt mounds. Look for blue fins protruding from the ground.
Finding Gible
Gible is the rare find in this roster. Nintendo Life suggests refreshing the area’s spawns by warping elsewhere or resting on a bench, then checking the dirt mounds again. These are the guide’s encounter tips, not a guaranteed spawn method. The guide also recommends Gible for its evolution into Garchomp and Sandile for its evolution into Krookodile.
Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 8
Nintendo Life reports two Alpha encounters:
- Alpha Krokorok, level 38: hidden beneath the outer sand and circling the area.
- Alpha Camerupt, level 40: near the market stall. The guide’s author says it did not appear until later in their playthrough, so its timing should not be treated as a guaranteed unlock condition.
The Pokémon Company describes Alphas generally as larger than their regular counterparts, with glowing red eyes. They are particularly powerful and difficult to catch, and will chase and attack after noticing the player. Official Pokémon Legends: Z-A overview
Rank #2
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Capture tips for the zone
The Pokémon Company’s advice applies to wild Pokémon generally, not specifically to Wild Zone 8: some flee as soon as they spot you, so hide from view or approach from behind to be harder to notice. The official overview also says lowering a Pokémon’s HP in battle makes it easier to catch. To attempt a capture, aim and throw a Poké Ball.

No specific Wild Zone 8 item pickups or locations are established by the sources cited here. Nintendo Life’s area guide documents Pokémon and Alpha encounters but does not name zone pickups; the official overview mentions useful items in the game generally, not items placed in this zone. That means an item total or pickup route cannot be confirmed.
