Pokémon Pokopia habitats are made by placing the required items and materials close together. Check the recipe’s exact quantities and any category options—such as “Seat (any)”—then give the game time to register the layout. A habitat creates a possible place for Pokémon to appear; it does not guarantee an immediate visit or a particular species.
How do you make a habitat in Pokémon Pokopia?
- Choose a target. Check the Habitat Dex for the habitat recipe, or the Pokédex for a Pokémon’s reported habitat and conditions.
- Gather the required items. Match both the quantities and wording. A recipe may call for a specific object, or allow any object in a category.
- Place the pieces near one another. The game recognizes a layout when its required pieces are close enough together. The exact arrangement and recognition are determined in-game.
- Check the Habitat Dex and Pokédex. Confirm whether the layout registered and see which Pokémon are associated with it.
- Reuse overlapping pieces where practical. Some items can contribute to more than one layout, so checking recipes before gathering can save effort.
These steps reflect guide-reported mechanics; Nintendo’s official game page identifies Pokémon Pokopia as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, but does not provide a public explanation of Habitat Dex rules.
What do you need for Tall Grass?
Tall Grass requires four tall grass patches. It is a straightforward early example of a recipe built from repeated pieces. A beginner walkthrough describes obtaining initial patches by using Water Gun on dry dirt and growing grass with Leafage; that is one guide’s sequence, not a guarantee that every player’s progression will match it.
Related recipes illustrate how a small change in the pieces creates a different layout:

How many habitats are in Pokopia?
The Pokopia Habitats Guide, whose page says it was last updated June 12, 2026, displays 213 habitats: a numbered main sequence from 001 to 209 plus four entries labeled 1001–1004. This is a third-party database count, not a timeless official total; the database says it is not affiliated with Nintendo or The Pokémon Company.

Other 2026 guides report 209. Pocket Tactics’ guide was updated April 7, 2026, while the Pokopia Guide Team’s list was published March 7, 2026. Scope and publication date matter: the Dexerto index separately identifies Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin and event habitat lists. Updates, expansion content, and event layouts can change what a particular list counts.
For a full reference, use an indexed habitat list that shows each name or ID, exact recipe, possible Pokémon, and any area, time, or weather conditions. Confirm the selected entry’s content category—base game, expansion, or event—rather than assuming every list covers the same scope.

Why hasn’t the Pokémon appeared?
A registered habitat is a potential living space, not a guaranteed instant spawn. Guide-reported lists distinguish rarity levels, and rarer Pokémon may take longer to appear. Individual Pokémon can also have requirements tied to area or time of day; weather and time appear in Nintendo Life’s Pokémon and habitat table.
- Confirm that the Habitat Dex recognizes the layout and that every required piece is present.
- Check the target Pokémon’s Pokédex information for area, time, and weather conditions.
- Allow for rarity: the recipe may be correct even if the desired Pokémon does not arrive promptly.
- Do not assume a habitat must be built in the matching grass-color area. One guide reports that habitats can be placed outside the areas used to organize its list, while some Pokémon remain area-specific.
Availability details are not complete for every entry in every third-party list, so use the in-game Pokédex and Habitat Dex to verify a particular target.

How should you choose between habitat recipes?
When several layouts could suit your goal, compare the requirements and the Pokémon they can attract instead of choosing by name alone.
- Material cost: Count pieces and consider whether they are easy for you to gather or craft.
- Recipe flexibility: Note whether a requirement names an exact object or accepts any item in a category.
- Possible visitors: Compare the listed Pokémon and their rarity; a shared habitat may have multiple possible spawns.
- Conditions: Check for area, time, weather, water, or height requirements where they are stated.
- Content scope: Identify whether the layout belongs to the base game, expansion content, or a limited event list.
Not every database entry has complete spawn or availability details, so an omitted condition in a third-party listing should not be treated as proof that no condition exists.
