Here’s a subjective ranking of the named designs identified in available coverage—not a claim to list every design in the game. No cited source establishes a complete official roster or a formal definition of “new form,” so this list focuses on character designs given distinctive names or concepts.
What counts as a new design in this ranking?
Pokémon Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 life-simulation game in which you play as Ditto and build a life with Pokémon. The Pokémon Company describes the premise as “Play as a Ditto and Build a New Life with Pokémon—from the Ground Up!” The game launched on March 5, 2026, and is available now on Nintendo Switch 2 (The Pokémon Company; availability announcement).
This ranking covers seven named designs in a March 2026 gameplay compilation, plus two human-like designs in February reporting. They are not necessarily all the designs in Pokopia, and the sources do not establish that each is an official “form” in the technical sense. The order is editorial, based on visual distinctiveness, how clearly each design communicates its idea, charm or humor, and memorability—not an official ranking or a game mechanic. The names and designs are identified in a gameplay-video description and GamesRadar+’s time-bounded reporting, rather than in a complete official roster (gameplay compilation; GamesRadar+ interview coverage).
Pokopia’s distinctive designs, ranked
1. Peakychu (Pikachu)
Peakychu takes the top spot for making a familiar Pokémon feel unexpectedly vulnerable. The name itself signals a twist, and GamesRadar+ reports that co-development studio Koei Tecmo’s chief director Takuto Edagawa described its “temporal and melancholy feel” as impressive. He said the team internally called it “unfortunate Pikachu.” That reaction captures what makes the design memorable: it plays against Pikachu’s usual bright, energetic image without losing its identity.
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
2. Professor Tangrowth
Professor Tangrowth turns the Pokémon’s plant-like silhouette into an immediately legible character concept. “Professor” suggests a role; Tangrowth’s distinctive tendrils make the pairing visually apt. It ranks highly for combining a clear premise with a design that still reads unmistakably as Tangrowth.
3. Smearguru (Smeargle)
Smearguru builds on Smeargle’s association with art and turns it into a more characterful title. The name is the hook: it suggests an accomplished creator rather than simply a Pokémon holding a brush. That concise concept gives the design strong personality, even without the strikingly melancholy contrast that puts Peakychu first.
Rank #2
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.

- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
4. Mosslax (Snorlax)
Mosslax’s name suggests a Snorlax that has become part of its surroundings, an appealing fit for a game about building a life with Pokémon. Its concept is easy to grasp and has gentle environmental charm. It lands below the top three because the idea feels more like a natural extension of Snorlax than a sharp character-role transformation.
5. Tinkmaster (Tinkaton)
Tinkmaster gives Tinkaton a title that implies a craft or specialty. It is a playful, readable idea, and the name makes the character feel purposeful. In this ranking, it sits in the middle: the role is appealing, but the available descriptions provide less basis for judging its visual impact than for designs such as Peakychu.

- Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass
6. DJ Rotom
DJ Rotom is a clean match between Pokémon and job. Rotom’s technology-associated identity makes a DJ persona feel natural, while the title is instantly understandable. That fit is a strength, though it makes the concept more expected than the designs that reinterpret a Pokémon in a surprising or emotionally distinctive way.
7. Chef Dente (Greedent)
Chef Dente gives Greedent a culinary role, with a punning name that supplies much of the charm. It is a fun character idea, but the available source material offers less detail to compare its design execution with the stronger visual or emotional concepts higher on the list. Its placement reflects that limited basis as well as the ranking’s preference for especially distinctive concepts.
Rank #4
- Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass)
Also noted: two human-like Ditto designs
February 2026 reporting discussed two designs of Ditto pretending to be human, alongside Mosslax, Smearguru, and Professor Tangrowth. They broaden the range beyond Pokémon presented with a new character role: these designs make Ditto’s imitation premise part of the visual concept. The report reflects what had been publicly shown at that time, not a complete current catalogue, and does not provide a basis for ranking the pair separately.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How complete is this list?
It is a guide to designs named in the cited coverage, not a definitive inventory. The March 2026 gameplay compilation names Professor Tangrowth, Smearguru, Peakychu, Mosslax, Chef Dente, DJ Rotom, and Tinkmaster. GamesRadar+’s February coverage discusses the two human-like Ditto designs and several of those characters, but its account is tied to the designs publicly shown at that stage. Neither source provides a complete current roster or defines which designs the game formally classifies as new forms.
