In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Mystery Gift unlocks after you reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos. Open X > Poké Portal > Mystery Gift to search for gifts available over the internet or enter a promotion code. Pokémon go to your party or Boxes, items go to the Bag, and fashion items are available from the Outfit menu.
When does Mystery Gift unlock in Scarlet and Violet?
Reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos. At that point, both Poké Portal and Mystery Gift become available. Nintendo lists a Nintendo Switch-family console and an internet connection among the requirements for receiving gifts. The guide does not establish a separate paid subscription requirement; requirements for a particular promotion or other online feature may differ. Nintendo’s Scarlet and Violet instructions give the game-specific unlock and redemption steps.
How do I redeem a Mystery Gift code in Pokémon Scarlet or Violet?
Redeem a code only if a promotion supplied one. During gameplay, open X > Poké Portal > Mystery Gift, then choose Code/Password. Enter the code and confirm. Use the menu wording shown in your game version if it differs.
Entering a code does not establish that its promotion is still valid. Whether a particular code can be redeemed depends on that promotion’s terms and deadline.

How do I get a gift without a code?
- Launch Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet and, during gameplay, press X.
- Select Poké Portal, then Mystery Gift.
- Choose Internet. The game connects and searches for gifts currently available.
- Highlight a gift and press A to confirm.
- Check the appropriate destination for the reward and save your game.
The Internet option searches for currently available gifts; it is not a way to browse or reactivate every past distribution. Nintendo describes Mystery Gift as a way to receive gifts over a wireless connection or redeem download codes. Nintendo’s Mystery Gift overview provides that general context.
Where do Mystery Gift rewards go?
- Pokémon: Your party, if there is room, or your Pokémon Boxes.
- Non-fashion items: The Bag.
- Fashion items: Open the Outfit menu by pressing Left.
Save after receiving a gift. To see gifts received previously, choose Check Mystery Gifts from the Mystery Gift menu. That history view confirms past receipts; Nintendo does not describe it as a way to recover a gift you missed or reactivate an expired code. - Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Can I still use an expired Mystery Gift code?
Assume an expired code is unavailable unless the official terms for that specific promotion say otherwise. The game’s code-entry instructions explain where to enter a code, but do not establish a universal extension, reactivation, or alternate redemption method for expired Scarlet and Violet codes.
Check the official announcement for the particular gift and its deadline. An old promotion page documents a past distribution, not proof that its code still works. For example, Nintendo’s Tracksuit promotion announcement and Revavroom distribution announcement concern historical gifts; neither should be treated as confirmation of a currently active offer.

Pokémon HOME has separate Gift Box rules: its instructions say gifts become unavailable after a certain period and each gift can be received only once per save file. Those statements apply to Pokémon HOME, not automatically to Scarlet and Violet’s in-game Mystery Gift system. Pokémon HOME’s instructions cover that separate service.
