The 7-star Mighty Skeledirge raid returned to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet from September 11 through September 17, 2026 (UTC), and is no longer live. When available, the Fire-type boss is best approached with a sturdy Water- or Ground-type attacker that can deal direct damage without relying on stat boosts: Skeledirge’s Unaware ability makes those boosts unreliable.

Is the Mighty Skeledirge raid still available?

No. The latest verified rerun ended September 17, 2026, at 23:59 UTC. The Pokémon Company’s September 2026 event notice set its window from September 11 at 00:00 UTC through September 17 at 23:59 UTC. The original event ran March 7–13, 2025 UTC, according to the original event notice; the 2026 appearance was a return of the same event Pokémon.

What are Skeledirge’s Tera Type, ability, and moves?

The event Skeledirge is a level 100, Fire Tera Type raid boss with the Mightiest Mark. Serebii’s Mighty Skeledirge event listing identifies its ability as Unaware and its nature as Rash. Its moves are:

  • Torch Song
  • Shadow Ball
  • Stomping Tantrum
  • Hyper Voice
  • Disarming Voice and Flame Charge, also recorded as encounter actions

No held item is listed. Torch Song is especially important in a long fight because it raises Skeledirge’s Special Attack. Unaware means the boss ignores opposing Pokémon’s stat changes, so a strategy built around boosting your Attack or Special Attack should not be the foundation of the plan. This mechanics explanation is also described in Pokestar’s September 2026 strategy guide.

How does the raid script work?

Serebii’s encounter listing records the following thresholds and shield values for this raid. These are listing-specific values for this encounter, not rules to assume for every Tera Raid.

Event Listed trigger or value
Shield activation 75% HP remaining or 75% time remaining
Player stat/status reset 80% time remaining
Boss stat/status reset 50% HP remaining
Shield damage: standard moves 20%
Shield damage: Terastallized moves 30%
Shield damage: a move matching the boss’s Tera Type 70%

The listing also records scripted Disarming Voice, Flame Charge, and Hyper Voice actions at encounter thresholds. Because the player reset occurs early and the boss has Unaware, spending turns on setup boosts has little upside; direct attacks and staying ready for the shield are more practical.

Which Pokémon are recommended counters?

Pokestar recommends high-natural-Attack Water- or Ground-type attackers that can contribute without setup turns. The guide names these options, but provides no controlled comparative performance data, so treat them as choices to consider rather than a proven ranking.

Pokémon Why the guide recommends it Consideration
Great Tusk Ground attacker with high natural Attack Fits a direct-damage plan that does not depend on boosts.
Garchomp Can attack with Earthquake Ground damage targets the Fire Tera Type; plan around the boss’s coverage and your team’s durability.
Azumarill Water attacker whose Huge Power provides damage without a setup turn Lets you avoid spending an early turn on boosting.
Quaquaval Another Water attacker A direct Water-damage option; the guide does not provide comparative results against the other choices.

How to approach the battle

  1. Choose a durable attacker. Use a Water or Ground Pokémon with reliable direct damage and a way to recover or receive healing. Avoid making stat-boosting turns central to your strategy.
  2. Keep early turns productive. Expect the player stat/status reset and scripted actions. Attack rather than spending scarce turns on boosts that Unaware can ignore or the reset can remove.
  3. Prepare for the shield. Use attacks that exploit the Fire Tera Type, and time Terastallization for the shield phase when possible. The event listing reports a higher shield damage value for a move matching Skeledirge’s Tera Type than for standard moves.
  4. Continue after the boss reset. At 50% HP, the listing records a boss stat/status reset. The strategy guide notes that this removes accumulated Torch Song boosts, so keep pressure on rather than treating that threshold as a reason to stop attacking.

This is a source-grounded tactical plan, not a report of a tested build. The cited recommendations do not establish which counter is best for solo play or provide a controlled comparison of durability and damage.

What rewards does the raid give?

Serebii’s event listing reports these base drops. The extra Fire Tera Shards are listed for the host, and the first-clear items are separate from the base drops.

Reward category Listed rewards
Base drops Exp. Candy L ×6, Exp. Candy XL ×4, Calcium ×5, Fire Tera Shard ×40
Additional host drop Fire Tera Shard ×20
First-clear rewards TM117 ×1 and Ability Patch ×1
Random drops Includes Herba Mystica varieties listed at 3% each

The quantities and chances above are encounter-data values from the event listing; random drops are not guaranteed.

How could players access the event?

For a future rerun, the official event notice says to download the latest Poké Portal News. Black-crystal raids become available after certain postgame events; players who have not completed those events can join another trainer’s raid in multiplayer. Online multiplayer requires a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. The event notice does not establish a future rerun date.

The event appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch. The Pokémon Company’s September 2026 notice confirms the event details and catch limit; raid mechanics and rewards above are from Serebii’s event database.
