The expansions released on July 18, 2025; their six-pack Booster Bundles followed on August 22, 2025. Here’s how the two sets relate and what official product formats were announced.
What are Black Bolt and White Flare?
Black Bolt and White Flare are two distinct expansions in the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s Scarlet & Violet series, centered on Pokémon first discovered in the Unova region. Pokémon’s official showcase describes them as having separate exclusive card pools, so they are paired releases rather than one identical set sold under two names. Pokémon’s 2025 announcement says the dual release highlights all 156 Pokémon originally discovered in Unova.
That does not, by itself, establish that the cards are divided evenly between the expansions or that every Unova Pokémon appears in both. To choose between them, check the card list for the specific Pokémon or cards you want; the official showcase explains the exclusive-pool distinction, but a complete card-by-card comparison is not established here.
When did the expansions and products launch?
The official announcement lists July 18, 2025 as the release date for Black Bolt and White Flare. That date is for the expansions, not every product associated with them. The official Booster Bundle listing gives August 22, 2025 as the bundles’ launch date.

What products were offered?
| Product | What the official listing establishes |
|---|---|
| Booster Bundle | Each Black Bolt or White Flare Booster Bundle contains six booster packs from its respective expansion. The listed bundle launch date is August 22, 2025. Official Booster Bundle listing. |
| Elite Trainer Box | Official listings cover set-specific Elite Trainer Boxes and describe promo cards and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. Consult the relevant listing for the exact contents of each box. Official product listings. |
| Binder Collection | An official listing covers a Binder Collection and mentions a collector’s card list. Official product listings. |
For a simple pack-focused format, the Booster Bundle’s six-pack contents are explicitly stated by Pokémon. For a box or binder product, compare the specific listed extras as well as which expansion’s exclusive cards you want. Product contents can differ by set and listing, so do not assume every format contains the same items.
Which set should you choose?
- Choose by card pool: Black Bolt and White Flare have separate exclusive card pools. Look up the cards you are targeting rather than assuming one set contains all of a particular type of Pokémon.
- Choose by format: Compare the published contents of the Booster Bundle, Elite Trainer Box, or Binder Collection you are considering.
- Check local availability: The official pages establish product identity and launch details, not current inventory, local packaging, seller reliability, or today’s price. Confirm those details with the retailer before ordering.
What the announcements do not establish
The cited official product pages do not establish current prices or stock, pull rates, investment value, a complete card checklist, or present-day tournament legality. Pokémon has published deck strategy coverage for the expansions, but that alone should not be treated as confirmation that particular cards are legal in current tournament formats. Verify legality against the rules and format information for the event you plan to play.
