Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals released on May 30, 2025. Select retailers offered Build & Battle Boxes during prerelease events from May 17, 2025. Since the original preorder window has ended, any listing you see now should be treated as current stock, backorder, or resale inventory—not as an open 2025 preorder.
When did Destined Rivals release?
The official expansion launch date was May 30, 2025. The earlier prerelease period began on May 17, 2025, when select retailers could sell Build & Battle Boxes for prerelease play. Those events were primarily hosted through participating local game stores.
Build & Battle Boxes became more broadly available when the expansion launched. Because this guide is being read after the launch campaign, check any product page for its actual status and condition rather than assuming “preorder” still means a manufacturer-authorized reservation.
What comes in the Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box?
The official Elite Trainer Box (ETB) includes:
- Nine Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals booster packs
- One full-art foil promotional card featuring Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet
- One code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live
The ETB is therefore more than a pack bundle: its fixed promo and sealed accessories are part of what you are paying for. Confirm the language and regional packaging on a listing, particularly when buying imported stock.

What is in a Destined Rivals booster pack?
A GameStop product listing describes a Destined Rivals booster pack as typically containing 10 Pokémon cards, one Basic Energy card, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. “Typically” is the retailer’s wording, so packaging and contents should be checked for the specific language or regional configuration you are buying.
Where could you buy Destined Rivals?
Pokémon Center
Pokémon Center was an official channel for Pokémon TCG products and maintained preorder-support information. Availability, country eligibility, purchase limits, shipping rules, and any Pokémon Center-exclusive version can change, so verify those details on the live store page before paying. The existence of a support page does not establish that a Destined Rivals listing is currently available.

Participating local game stores
Local game stores were the official prerelease route for Build & Battle Boxes beginning May 17, 2025. Participation and remaining stock were store-specific. Contact the store directly if you are looking for sealed prerelease product or an event-related purchase.
Mainstream retailers and marketplaces
The expansion was sold through retailers that carry Pokémon TCG products at launch. For a post-release listing, compare the seller—not just the platform. Marketplace inventory may be retailer stock, imported product, or resale stock, and the platform’s headline price may exclude shipping or taxes.

How to compare ETBs, booster boxes, and Build & Battle products
| Product | What is established | Best reason to choose it | Checks before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box | Nine booster packs, a full-art foil Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet promo, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card | You want a defined accessory package and the exclusive ETB promo | Confirm language, sealed condition, seller identity, shipping region, and total delivered price |
| Destined Rivals booster box | Exact pack count and included accessories are not stated in the supplied product information | You want a larger sealed-pack format and are comparing pack economics | Verify the exact regional configuration and pack count on the product packaging or listing |
| Build & Battle Box | Used for prerelease play; select retailers could sell them from May 17, 2025 | You want the prerelease format or event experience | Check whether the item is genuine prerelease stock, its event history, and whether it is new and sealed |
What to check before buying a current listing
- Identify the listing status. Separate in-stock product from backorder, preorder language left on an old page, and resale inventory.
- Verify the seller. Look for a recognizable retailer or a marketplace seller with a strong history of selling sealed Pokémon products.
- Confirm the product format. An ETB, booster box, Build & Battle Box, bundle, and loose packs are different products; read the title and contents carefully.
- Check language and region. Make sure the cards, packaging, and Pokémon TCG Live code are intended for the market you use.
- Inspect condition terms. Ask whether the item is factory sealed, damaged, opened, or repacked, and review the return policy.
- Calculate the delivered total. Include shipping, tax, import charges, and any marketplace fees before comparing offers.
- Check limits and delivery timing. Store limits and estimated dispatch dates can apply even when a page appears to have stock.
Is the Pokémon Center version worth it?
There is no single value verdict without a live price and a confirmed description of the specific Pokémon Center listing. Compare the current Pokémon Center total with an ordinary ETB after accounting for the promo or other exclusive contents, shipping, regional eligibility, and purchase limits. If the exclusive item is not clearly identified on the live page, do not pay a premium based only on the Pokémon Center name.
Common buying mistakes
- Assuming the May 30, 2025 release date means a preorder is still open.
- Confusing the May 17 prerelease Build & Battle window with the full expansion launch.
- Comparing an ETB with loose packs without valuing the Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet promo and included accessories.
- Relying on a marketplace photograph or title without checking language, seller, seal, and return terms.
- Treating a retailer’s “typically” stated booster-pack contents as a guarantee for every regional configuration.
The Bottom Line
Destined Rivals launched on May 30, 2025, after a May 17 prerelease window for Build & Battle Boxes. The ETB’s confirmed contents are nine booster packs, a full-art foil Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet promo, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. For any purchase now, prioritize seller authenticity, regional language, sealed condition, and the complete delivered price over outdated preorder labels.
