What is the most expensive Destined Rivals card?
In the cited October 6 ranking, Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex 231/182 Special Illustration Rare is the highest-priced card: $398.00 in TCGVault’s TCGplayer Near Mint snapshot. Do not confuse it with Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex 240/182, a different printing and rarity that the same ranking lists at $51.07. A card name alone is not enough to identify the version or compare prices.

How to compare listings before buying
Use the market figures to orient your search, then judge actual listings on matching terms. The quoted values are market references, not seller-specific offers. Bill’s Archive describes its US singles values as TCGplayer market prices collected on the displayed date and says its figures drift over time; it also converts those values to pounds using that day’s exchange rate. See its price methodology and snapshot explanation.
- Match the printing: Check the full card name, collector number, rarity, and language. For example, Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex appears in the ranking as both 231/182 Special Illustration Rare and 240/182 Hyper Rare.
- Match condition: The ranked US values are for Near Mint copies. Do not compare them directly with lightly played, played, or damaged cards.
- Match market and currency: TCGplayer is the US comparison in the table; Cardmarket is the European one. The currencies and regional markets are not interchangeable. For instance, Ho-Oh is listed at $146.20 on TCGplayer and €204.19 on Cardmarket on October 6, 2026. Convert currencies using a current rate and account for fees and shipping before judging the difference.
- Check the seller’s actual offer: A guide’s market estimate is not necessarily the price of a copy currently for sale. Verify seller, condition, language, shipping, tax, and whether you can combine purchases from the same seller. The cited guides do not calculate your final checkout cost.
- Choose by collection priority: If several cards fit your budget, artwork, favorite Pokémon or Trainer, and whether the card fills a set goal are reasonable ways to decide. A ranking measures observed prices, not personal collecting preference.
What does “complete set” mean for Destined Rivals?
Destined Rivals is an English Scarlet & Violet expansion released May 30, 2025. TCGVault’s card-list guide describes 244 numbered cards: 182 in the main numbering and 62 secret rares numbered above 182. Its secret-rare breakdown is 23 Illustration Rares, 22 Ultra Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares, and six Hyper Rares. See the TCGVault set guide.

- This is a great way to get started in collecting Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals.
- A great gift for any Pokémon players or collectors.
A larger completion target counts alternate reverse-holo versions separately. TCG Watchtower describes a 409-card master set that includes 165 reverse holos in addition to the 244 unique numbered cards. That is a different checklist scope, not a contradiction in the numbered-card total; consult its master-set definition and checklist resource if you are building toward that broader target.

The ranking answers what led this particular dated market snapshot, not whether a card is a good investment or will rise in value. Decide whether the exact printing suits your collection and budget, then compare current listings with the same condition, market, language, and total-cost basis. No pull-rate estimate or future-price direction is established by the cited sources.
