Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals was released on May 30, 2025. The expansion puts Team Rocket at the center of its identity, alongside a wider lineup of Pokémon associated with Trainers. Its launch included products such as an Elite Trainer Box, while Build & Battle Boxes were available at select retailers ahead of release for prerelease play.
What is Destined Rivals?
Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals is a Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion framed around choosing a side, assembling allies, and battling. Team Rocket is a defining part of the set: Pokémon’s product showcase says it features more than 45 Team Rocket’s Pokémon cards. Separately, the official expansion page describes more than 45 Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations. These are two distinct categories and counts, not a single combined figure. When did Destined Rivals come out?
The expansion launched May 30, 2025, according to Pokémon’s product showcase and expansion page. The release date is past; this is a launched set, not an upcoming expansion.
What cards did Pokémon preview?
Pokémon’s official preview named Cynthia’s Garchomp ex and Arven’s Sandwich as examples of cards in the expansion. They illustrate its mix of Trainer-associated Pokémon and Trainer cards, but are not a complete checklist. The available official preview does not establish every card in the set. - Nine booster packs

- Card sleeves and Energy cards
- Dice, condition markers, and other accessories
The Elite Trainer Box combines packs for opening with accessories for organizing and playing with cards. The official listing describes the contents, but does not establish current stock or pricing. Check the official product gallery.

How did prerelease play work?
Pokémon said select retailers began selling Destined Rivals Build & Battle Boxes on May 17, 2025, ahead of the full launch. Prerelease play used a 40-card deck and four Prize cards set aside at the start; the standard format uses a 60-card deck and six Prize cards. The Build & Battle Box was tied to this prerelease format, while the Elite Trainer Box is a separate product with its own listed contents. Pokémon’s prerelease announcement has the event details.
