As of October 8, 2026, Pokémon has not announced or confirmed native controller support for Pokémon UNITE on iOS or Android, and no release date has been announced. The officially documented controller option is the Nintendo Switch version. Pairing a controller with a phone does not by itself mean the mobile game will accept its input.
Is Pokémon UNITE getting mobile controller support?
There is no confirmed answer that it is coming: the official Pokémon material located for this article does not announce mobile controller support or give a launch date. That is not proof the feature will never be added; it means players should not plan around an unannounced feature.
Pokémon’s recommended-specifications page lists mobile operating-system and hardware requirements, but does not identify compatible mobile controllers. The page therefore does not establish mobile controller support either way. Pokémon Support’s system requirements were updated February 26, 2026.
In an official Pokémon Forums discussion that began in August 2025, players reported that mobile controllers did not work. A moderator directed the questioner to Pokémon Support for accurate information but did not confirm a planned feature or date. Those forum comments are user reports, not an official product commitment. Read the forum discussion.

What controller options are documented?
Pokémon UNITE is available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, but availability on both platforms does not mean they support the same input methods. Pokémon Support says: “No. In terms of general gameplay, there is no difference between the Nintendo Switch version and mobile version of Pokémon UNITE.” That answer compares general gameplay; it does not establish identical controls or confirm mobile controller compatibility. Pokémon Support’s comparison was updated February 26, 2026.
The 2025 Pokémon UNITE Championship Series rules list officially licensed Nintendo controllers for in-person matches: the Pro Controller, Joy-Con Set, Joy-Con Straps, and Joy-Con Grip. This is evidence for the Switch controller route, not a compatibility statement about the iOS or Android apps. See the 2025 Championship Series rules.

Should you buy a phone controller for Pokémon UNITE?
Do not buy a Bluetooth or phone-mounted controller on the assumption that it will control Pokémon UNITE on mobile. A controller may pair with an iPhone or Android device at the operating-system level, but that alone does not show that this particular game accepts its input. The official material cited here does not provide a mobile controller compatibility list.
The same evidence does not substantiate generic key mappers, adapters, or emulators as officially supported fixes. If you want controller input using a documented option, play the Switch version with a supported Nintendo controller. A Switch console is an alternative platform, not a requirement for playing the game.

Can you use your Pokémon UNITE save data on Switch and mobile?
Pokémon Support says the same save data can be accessed on Switch and mobile when the appropriate Nintendo Account or Pokémon Trainer Central account is linked. If you switch platforms, follow Pokémon Support’s instructions for accessing the same save data on multiple devices, updated September 30, 2026.
