Pokémon’s rumored Project Seed has been described as a Game Freak prototype for a multiplayer online game connecting several regions—but neither the game nor its map has been officially confirmed. Early leak summaries named Hoenn and Sinnoh; later accounts expanded the possible scope to Kanto and Johto, with Kitakami appearing in some versions. The “four-region MMO” label is therefore a report about evolving leak claims, not an announced game.
Is Pokémon Project Seed confirmed?
No. The available accounts attribute the project and its details to leaked material and leaker posts. GamePro’s reporting says the claims remain rumors pending comment from The Pokémon Company or Game Freak, and a September 2026 report from Ali213 likewise says Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company had not confirmed the project. No attributable official statement establishing Project Seed as a real game appears in these reports.

VICE describes leaked-file wording that calls Seed a prototype for a next-generation online game playable by multiple people, set in a region connecting Hoenn and Sinnoh. That is wording attributed to a summary in leaked files, not a statement from a named Game Freak representative. Because the purported source was in Japanese and translations may lose nuance, precise design details should be treated cautiously.
Which regions are reportedly involved?
The alleged map has changed across accounts. VICE’s account of the leaked summary focuses on Hoenn and Sinnoh. GamePro recounts an earlier Centro LEAKS description of those two regions, followed by a later claim naming the four Japanese regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
A subsequent GamePro report describes leak claims involving four to five connected regions and lists Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kitakami. Kitakami appeared in later information, so it is better understood as an addition to a changing rumor than as part of a settled map. The reporting does not establish which regions, if any, would actually appear in a finished game.
What do the reported timing claims mean?
VICE says leaker Riddler Khu posted that a friend told them all projects named in the leak, including Seed, were still in development by April 2026. That is a secondhand claim, not independent confirmation of the project’s status now.

- Study Pokémon behaviors, sneak up on them, and toss a well-aimed Poké Ball to catch them
- Unleash moves in the speedy agile style or the powerful strong style in battles
- Travel to the Hisui region—the Sinnoh of old—and build the region’s first Pokédex
- Learn about the Mythical Pokémon Arceus, the key to this mysterious tale
VICE also summarizes leak-based claims of active pre-production and a planned 2029 date, while noting that the date could be pushed later. There is no confirmed release date in these reports, and the alleged target should not be treated as an announced schedule.
How does the idea compare with earlier Pokémon games?
Pokémon Gold and Silver provide a limited precedent for regional connections: after completing the Johto Elite Four, players could travel to Kanto. GamePro notes that progression, but it does not establish anything about Seed’s design. Unlocking a second region within those games is not the same as building a rumored online world that links several regions.

- Embark on a new Pokémon adventure
- Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities.
- Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea.
- Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.
What is still unknown?
- Whether Project Seed exists as a current, active game project.
- Which regions—if any—would be included in a finished release.
- Whether “MMO” accurately describes the intended multiplayer design; the reported leaked wording says “online game playable by multiple people.”
- Its platforms, release date, or final development plan.
Until an official announcement supplies those details, Project Seed is best described as an alleged multiplayer prototype with a reported, shifting regional scope—not a confirmed Pokémon MMO.
