Poly Fighter, the single-player roguelike fighting game from Montreal-based HeartLoop Games, is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on October 13, 2026. The Steam listing showed a countdown and said the game was not yet available when checked, so the date is confirmed as the planned release date—not proof that the game is already playable.
What is Poly Fighter?
Poly Fighter is built around run-based combat and moveset creation. Players learn techniques from opponents they defeat, then swap or upgrade moves to shape a fighter build during a run. HeartLoop Games describes branching opponent choices, tougher rivals as players advance, and secret bosses as parts of the experience.

That move-learning loop is the game’s main progression hook: rather than relying on one fixed set of attacks, players can incorporate techniques taken from defeated opponents and adapt their moveset as a run unfolds. The Steam description presents learning and combining techniques as a way to create different builds; it does not promise that every possible combination will be balanced or equally effective.
The game is structured around three leagues. The Steam description also offers a choice between simple and motion inputs, giving players different ways to execute attacks. Its focus is on adapting a moveset and progressing through fights rather than climbing an online ranked ladder.

What is included in the Early Access version?
HeartLoop Games says the Early Access build includes 16 playable characters, a complete playable Discovery Loop, and the full technique-learning system. The developer says those systems allow a wide variety of movesets and builds. The 16-character count and complete Discovery Loop describe the current planned Early Access scope; they are not a promise that every planned addition is already included.
The studio plans to add more characters, techniques, bosses, bonus stages, and more complex boss encounters, alongside quality-of-life improvements, balance work, and polish. Its stated goal is to reach version 1.0 before summer 2027, but HeartLoop cautions that the schedule may change with development and player feedback.
HeartLoop says it chose Early Access to involve players in the final stages of development, particularly around “move tuning, balance, difficulty, and unexpected combinations.” That makes player feedback part of the studio’s stated development plan, rather than an indication that the listed future features have firm delivery dates. In its Steam listing, the studio also says it does not currently plan to change the price when the game leaves Early Access.

Does Poly Fighter have multiplayer?
Steam lists Poly Fighter as single-player. The store description says, “No ranked ladders. No online stress.” The available listing therefore presents it as a solo fighting game, not an online competitive fighter. Players looking specifically for online matches or ranked competition should not assume those modes are included.
