What happens at the end of Chapter 5?
The final sequence, as recounted by an unofficial fan guide and corroborated in broad outline by Insider Gaming’s ending recap, unfolds in five beats. These are secondary accounts, not an official transcript.

- Giblet and the protagonist go to Data Storage. They are looking for a Backup, shifting their immediate goal from escape to finding information or help.
- Harley Sawyer’s Backup activates. The scene’s final reveal, as identified by both recaps, is the activation of Harley Sawyer’s Backup. It does not establish what the Backup remembers or intends to do.
What happens to Poppy?
The Prototype takes her during the escape, according to the ending accounts. Her fate after that is not revealed in the scene as described, so it is not yet possible to say whether she is safe, injured, or being held for a particular purpose.

The reveal is identified as Harley Sawyer’s Backup activating in Data Storage. The scene, as recounted by the sources, does not explain whether this is a copy of Harley, what memories it contains, or whether it will help the protagonist. Its arrival could become a source of assistance or another danger, but either reading is speculation until the story establishes more.

Did the protagonist really survive?
Yes: in the account of the ending, Giblet revives the protagonist after the Poppy Gel sequence, and they continue to Data Storage. But the guide does not explain the biological or technical reason for the recovery. That scene alone does not prove that the protagonist is a toy, nonhuman, or an experiment.
What is still unresolved?
- Poppy’s condition and what the Prototype plans to do with her.
- Huggy Wuggy and Kissy Missy’s status after the attack.
- How the protagonist survived the injury and Poppy Gel sequence.
- What Harley Sawyer’s Backup knows, wants, or will do.
The most defensible interpretation is that the chapter worsens the protagonists’ position while introducing a new, uncertain possibility: Poppy is gone, the Prototype remains active in the recap, and the search for a Backup ends with Harley Sawyer rather than a clear solution.

Does the ending confirm Chapter 6?
No. An unresolved story hook is not an announcement of a sequel’s title, release date, or place in the series. Mob Entertainment’s Chapter 5 page and the Steam listing establish Chapter 5 information, but the cited official pages do not announce a next chapter. Mob dates Broken Things to February 18, 2026; Steam lists it as DLC that requires the free Poppy Playtime base game.
