If your mouse or cursor behaves oddly in PowerWash Simulator on PC, first test the game with only your mouse and keyboard connected: disconnect controllers and other input devices, restart the computer, then launch the game again. This is the first check recommended in the game’s Steam known-issues thread, not a guaranteed fix. The steps below focus on PC/Steam; they are not verified for every platform or storefront.
1. Disconnect other input devices and restart
Close PowerWash Simulator, disconnect every input device except your mouse and keyboard, and restart your computer before testing the game again. The PowerWash Simulator Steam known-issues thread advises unplugging other devices—including a racing wheel, shifter or button box—and then restarting. The thread was updated for game version 1.1 in 2023, so treat this as a useful diagnostic step rather than confirmation of a current-build bug or a universal cure.
Include peripherals beyond a controller
For this test, disconnect gamepads as well as sim-racing equipment such as wheels, shifters and pedals, plus any other controller-like peripherals. Player reports have associated some cursor or mouse symptoms with connected gamepads and sim-racing gear, and some players report that disconnecting the equipment helped. These accounts are anecdotal: they do not prove that a peripheral is the cause in every setup.
2. Check whether the game is responding to another input
The game’s Steam FAQ says controller support should be detected automatically and that control mappings can be viewed in the settings menu. Check the mappings and whether the game appears to be responding as though a controller is active. This can help distinguish an input-device conflict from a mouse failure, but the FAQ is community-hosted guidance, not a current patch note.

3. Separate unresponsive input from sensitivity
If the mouse moves and the game registers it, but washing motion feels too strong, reduce mouse sensitivity in the game’s settings and test again. The FAQ describes sensitivity as an adjustment for how mouse movement feels; changing it is not a fix for a mouse that produces no input or a missing or drifting cursor.
4. If the mouse still does not work
If the problem remains after testing with other input devices disconnected and checking the game’s controls, contact official PowerWash Simulator support, linked from Steam’s technical-issue page. Include details that can help narrow down the problem:

- Your platform and storefront, and the game version shown on your installation.
- Which mouse, keyboard, controller or other input devices are connected.
- Whether the cursor and mouse work outside the game.
- What happens in the menu and during gameplay, and which troubleshooting steps you tried.
Players have also reported symptoms that persisted with a controller disconnected, so an unsuccessful peripheral test does not rule out another cause. The available reports do not establish one fix that applies to every PC setup, game version or platform.
