How to tell whether the problem is local or server-side
A connection failure can come from your device, local network, weak reception, device performance, server downtime, or maintenance. A symptom such as the game failing to connect—or getting stuck while loading—does not identify which cause applies.
Supercell says the warning “Client and server are out of sync!” means your device is not synchronized with its server and usually appears when the internet connection is unstable. Treat it as a connection clue, not proof of a North America-wide outage. Full Wi-Fi bars or cellular coverage do not guarantee a stable connection; a local network can slow down or become overloaded. What to try before reporting a server problem
- Check other apps and websites. If they also fail on the same device, investigate your internet connection first. This is a practical diagnostic check, not a guarantee that it will identify every cause.
- Try another reliable connection, if available. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see whether the game behaves differently. Signal bars alone do not establish that a connection is stable.
- Update and refresh the game. Confirm Clash of Clans is up to date, close background apps, clear the game’s cache, and restart your device. These are among the steps Supercell recommends for connection issues.
- Check for a maintenance notice. If the game explicitly says maintenance is underway, wait and try again after it ends. The game is inaccessible during maintenance. Supercell’s maintenance guidance
- Contact official support if the issue continues. Use the Clash of Clans support portal and its technical assistance or contact options.
Testing another network can help narrow down where a connection problem occurs, but it cannot by itself prove that a regional server is down. Supercell’s guidance does not establish the status, scope, or restoration timing of a North America incident.

What maintenance means for your village
When maintenance is in progress, players cannot access the game until it ends. Supercell says power, hero, and clock tower boosts pause during maintenance; resource, builder, research, pet, and super boosts do not. What happens if you disconnect during a battle
