The shrine’s Cosmic Caravan puzzle opens a hidden room with valuable loot, while the Mutasafen encounter can affect whether you can research the Records of Pulura’s Stargazers—a reported requirement for the secret ending. Exact timing and quest order can vary by mythic path and earlier choices.
Where to find Pulura’s Fall, and when to go
Prima Games places Pulura’s Fall west of Drezen, with Blackwater across the lake as a landmark. Its guide associates an Act 3 visit with an Angel mythic quest and reports that other mythic paths visit in Act 5. Treat that as a guide-reported pattern, not a guarantee for every save or game version. Prima Games’ Pulura’s Fall guide
The area includes an exterior as well as the shrine. Prima Games describes ceremonial daggers and an Azata-related cleansing spot outside, and locates the puzzle in the shrine to the northeast. It also places Mutasafen and the Stargazers research in the “Cascade of Fire” quest.
For Angel players, a GameFAQs walkthrough excerpt describes the Shrine of Pulura and the quest “By the Will of the Stars,” including a guard, a note, and an ambush sequence. That excerpt documents one questline path; it does not establish a universal order for all playthroughs. GameFAQs Angel-path walkthrough

During the encounter, Mutasafen tries to escape and warns that hostages from Drezen will die. Prima Games reports that defeating him unlocks the Records of Pulura’s Stargazers research project; choosing to save the villagers lets him escape and forfeits that research option. Prima Games’ Mutasafen and research guidance
If you are pursuing the secret ending, walkthrough sources identify the Records research as a requirement and say to complete it before Act 5’s point of no return. A GameFAQs Chapter 5 walkthrough excerpt says the resulting Stargazer’s Report provides a date used in planning that route. The reported route-critical implication is to secure Mutasafen’s research and finish it in time. GameFAQs Chapter 5 walkthrough excerpt
Spoiler: reported ways to defeat Mutasafen and save the civilians
Prima Games describes two decision-dependent routes that can let you defeat Mutasafen while also saving the civilians:
- Nurah route: The guide says this depends on earlier decisions and, for changing her ways, the Trickster path.
- Ramien route: The guide connects this to siding with Ramien rather than Hulrun during the earlier “Feud of the Faithful” choice.
These are guide-reported outcomes tied to prior choices; they should not be assumed available in every playthrough.
How the shrine fits into the secret-ending route
The Records of Pulura’s Stargazers matter beyond the local quest: Prima Games identifies the research as one of the secret-ending requirements, and the GameFAQs walkthrough excerpt links its report to a date used along that route. Those sources advise completing the research before Act 5’s point of no return. The timing and sequence of other Pulura’s Fall content may differ with mythic path and prior choices.
