Project Motor Racing supports cross-play between PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to its official FAQ. The September 2025 multiplayer announcement described scheduled championships, ranked races, casual social events, custom lobbies and leaderboard challenges. The game does not add a separate fee for online modes, but console players still need the applicable platform subscription.
Which multiplayer modes did Project Motor Racing announce?
The September 24, 2025 announcement described several ways to race online, from scheduled competition to player-run sessions. These are announcement details; they should not be taken as confirmation that every mode is currently live or unchanged.
Monthly championships
These cross-play championships were described as having a weekly track rotation and scheduled race times. They suit players looking for organized competition rather than an on-demand lobby.
Ranked racing
The announcement outlined matchmaking, divisions and ranked grids organized by car class. Players would start with a Lime Rock Park License Test, then receive a per-class Driver Rating on a 0–100 scale. That rating is a game system, not a real-world performance statistic.

Social races
Casual social events were described as 15-minute races with rotating playlists, offering shorter sessions than a scheduled championship.
Custom lobbies
Lobby hosts can choose cars, tracks and race rules. For leagues, organizers set their own scoring rather than relying on a single league-scoring format defined by the game.

Leaderboard challenges
Factory Driver Challenges were announced for comparing lap times. Endurance Hall Events were described as long-distance events, giving leaderboard-focused players a different goal from a head-to-head ranked grid.
Does Project Motor Racing support cross-play?
Yes. The official FAQ lists PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and confirms cross-play. The announcement’s monthly championships were also described as cross-platform.

Does online play cost extra?
The official FAQ says online modes are accessible after purchasing the game and having an internet connection; it does not describe a separate Project Motor Racing online-mode charge. Console players nevertheless need the relevant platform subscription: PlayStation Plus for PlayStation online play and/or Xbox Game Pass for Xbox online play, as applicable. Ian Bell’s announcement line, “No passes. No rentals. No subscriptions,” refers to the game’s own online offering and should not be read as waiving console platform requirements.
How do custom lobbies and misconduct reports work?
Players can host custom races and choose their conditions, while league organizers decide how to score their competition. The official FAQ says players can report misconduct at the end of ranked races using an on-screen QR code; it also directs players to the official Discord.

What should PC players know about wheels and controllers?
Input support depends on the device and its interface. The official FAQ says devices compatible with RawInput should be detected automatically, though players may still need to map buttons or axes. For devices that do not use RawInput, a custom XML configuration may be needed to switch to DirectInput. The FAQ also says native console controllers are supported on PC.
Displays and wheel LEDs may need manufacturer SDK integration or a third-party tool such as SimHub. Compatibility should be checked for the exact device and features; general support guidance does not establish that every wheel or accessory works without setup.

What cars and track were included in the announcement?
The September 2025 report said seven cars and Sebring International Raceway were added to the announcement’s content list. This is a historical announcement roster, not confirmation of the current in-game selection.
