TAL: The Arcane Lands, later presented as Project TAL, is an announced single-player, open-world action RPG inspired by Korean Tal-mask mythology and a fantasy world modeled on the Joseon Dynasty. It is planned for PC and unspecified consoles, with a worldwide 2027 release window reported in October 2025. No console models have been confirmed.
What is TAL: The Arcane Lands?
MADNGINE is developing the game, and Wemade Max is publishing it. The May 2025 announcement called it TAL: The Arcane Lands; October 2025 trailer coverage used the later public name Project TAL. These names refer to the same game.
The announcement described an original fantasy world inspired by the Joseon Dynasty. The publisher later framed the setting around Korea’s traditional Tal masks and related mythology and folklore. “TAL” refers to the traditional Korean mask and, in the announcement’s description, also evokes transformation and awakening. This is a fantasy RPG drawing on those inspirations, not a confirmed historical simulation. Gematsu’s May 6, 2025 announcement report covered the original title and premise; its October 23, 2025 Project TAL trailer report covered the later name and expanded description.
Which platforms are confirmed?
The announced platform scope is PC and consoles, but the console category has not been made more specific. The available announcements do not identify PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, a hardware generation, or a PC storefront. There are therefore no confirmed platform versions to compare yet.

That means readers should treat “consoles” as an unspecified category, not as confirmation of a release on any particular system. Storefront availability, system requirements, price, editions, preorders, regional differences, and accessibility options are also not established in the cited announcements.
When is Project TAL expected to release?
Gematsu’s October 2025 report gave a worldwide 2027 release window for PC and unspecified consoles. Wemade Max’s February 9, 2026 investor-relations presentation continued to list TAL among upcoming titles, but did not provide a newer schedule or name console platforms. Accordingly, 2027 is the latest located announced window, not a guaranteed date. The later company listing does not establish that the schedule has been reaffirmed.
What has been described about the story and combat?
October 2025 coverage described Project TAL as a story-driven, single-player action RPG about healing a wounded world. WEMADE MAX CEO Sohn Myun-seok described it as combining “an emotionally resonant story about healing a wounded world with the exhilarating combat of a classic action RPG,” in a press release reported by Gematsu. That is a publisher statement, not an independent assessment of the story or gameplay.

The publisher-described combat ideas include weapons and magic, attacks that involve climbing onto large monsters, targeting enemy weak points, counterattacks, and skill combos. Companions are described as filling different roles, including defense, support, melee, ranged, and magic. The initial announcement also mentioned cooperative real-time combat. These are announced concepts relayed in coverage; they are not hands-on findings or confirmation of a multiplayer mode.
