The available official announcements do not prove that PS5 Black Friday prices fell below pre-hike prices. Sony announced Black Friday 2025 offers before its PS5 price increase took effect on April 2, 2026, but the promotion announcement does not give the matching sale and pre-hike prices needed to verify that comparison for a particular console and market. Sony has not confirmed a 2026 Black Friday promotion in the information available here.
What Sony confirmed about Black Friday 2025
In an announcement published November 18, 2025, Sony said its Black Friday promotion would start November 21 and run for a limited time. It described the offers as varying by region and retailer, and cautioned that actual retailer prices and availability could vary.
Sony named recommended retail prices for two U.S. Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundles: $399.99 for a PS5 Digital Edition 825GB bundle and $449.99 for a PS5 1TB bundle. Those are bundle prices, not prices for every console listing or a market-wide record of retailer transactions.
The same announcement said select regions would have $100 savings on PS5 consoles and PS5 Digital Edition consoles, and announced $100 savings on PS5 Pro consoles. Sony did not say those savings applied in every market. The announcement does not provide enough detail to establish the final sale price of every model in each participating territory.

How the 2026 price increase changes the comparison
On March 27, 2026, Sony announced updated recommended retail prices for PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal, effective April 2, 2026. Sony described the increase as global and directed customers in other territories to local retailers or direct.playstation.com for local pricing. Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of global marketing, attributed the decision to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.”
The 2025 Black Friday promotion came before that price change. That timing alone does not show that a 2025 sale price was below the price immediately before the April 2026 increase: the relevant 2025 transaction price and the matching pre-increase price must both be known. Nor does it establish what a later Black Friday offer will cost.

What counts as a like-for-like price comparison
To substantiate a claim that a Black Friday PS5 deal beat a pre-hike price, compare the same product and type of price on both sides of the hike:
- Market and currency: Match the country or territory and its currency; Sony says offers can vary by region.
- Console edition and model: Compare disc with disc or digital with digital, and match the specific model and storage capacity.
- What is included: Compare a console-only listing with another console-only listing, or match the bundle contents. A bundle’s recommended retail price is not directly interchangeable with a console-only transaction price.
- Price measure: Distinguish Sony’s recommended retail price from the amount a retailer actually charged.
- Timing: Compare the Black Friday offer with the price for that same product immediately before the April 2, 2026 change—not with an unrelated older price or a different promotion.
Without those matches, a headline saying a PS5 deal was lower than pre-hike levels may overstate what the available figures show.

What shoppers can verify for a current deal
Sony’s 2025 announcement is historical, not evidence of a current offer. For a live listing, check the retailer’s current price, the exact console model and included items, and the local recommended retail price. Then compare those details with a reliable record of the same product’s price immediately before the increase. As Sony cautions, retailer prices and availability may vary.
As of October 4, 2026, the official information summarized here does not confirm a 2026 Black Friday promotion or its prices. It therefore cannot support a prediction about this year’s discounts or a claim that upcoming deals will beat pre-hike prices.
