As of October 7, 2026, there is no verified evidence here that the PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro is discounted for Black Friday. Sony’s current U.S. recommended prices are $649.99 for the disc-drive PS5, $599.99 for the Digital Edition, and $899.99 for PS5 Pro; those are recommended prices, not proof of a retailer sale. Check a dated retailer listing and its checkout price before treating an offer as a deal.
Are the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro on sale for Black Friday?
Not on the evidence available as of October 7, 2026. GamesRadar’s October 1 roundup labels its coverage “early” Black Friday deals, but lists the same prices as Sony’s recommendations. A matching price is not a markdown. A genuine offer needs a retailer listing that identifies the console model, price, offer dates, and availability.
Sony’s U.S. recommended prices took effect April 2, 2026. Sony said the increase reflected “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” The figures below are recommendations; retailers set their own transaction prices.
| Console | U.S. recommended price | Effective date |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 with disc drive | $649.99 | April 2, 2026 |
| PS5 Digital Edition | $599.99 | April 2, 2026 |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | April 2, 2026 |
These U.S. prices are from Sony’s March 27, 2026 pricing announcement. Sony also announced regional recommendations effective April 2: £569.99 for PS5, £519.99 for Digital Edition, and £789.99 for Pro in the UK; €649.99, €599.99, and €899.99 respectively in Europe. Local retailer prices and promotions can differ.

How to check whether a listing is a real deal
- Identify the exact model. Confirm whether the offer is for PS5 Slim with disc drive, Digital Edition, or PS5 Pro; check the SKU and listed storage rather than relying on a broad product title.
- Compare the final price. Check the amount at checkout and whether required accessories are included or sold separately. Do not treat a recommended price or an “early Black Friday” label as evidence of savings by itself.
- Confirm offer details. Look for the retailer, start and end dates, and stock status on the offer page. If these are missing, the promotion is not sufficiently established to call it a verified Black Friday deal.
Which PS5 version should you compare?
PS5 Slim with disc drive
Choose this version if you want to use physical game discs or Blu-ray and DVD media without buying an add-on drive. Sony’s U.S. buying page describes a 1 TB disc-drive PS5, but confirm the capacity on the specific listing because model revisions and regional offers can vary.
PS5 Slim Digital Edition
This is the disc-free option. Sony’s current Direct listing showed an 825 GB Digital Edition; capacity can vary by listing or revision, so check the exact SKU. If you may want physical media later, factor the compatible add-on Disc Drive and its cost into the comparison rather than treating the console-only price as the whole expense.

Add-on Disc Drive
Sony says its attachable Disc Drive works with PS5 Digital Edition CFI-2000 Slim models and PS5 Pro. It supports 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD discs, and requires an internet connection to pair with the console during setup. Check the console’s model number and the drive’s compatibility before buying; the drive is not a universal fit for every Digital Edition.
Vertical Stand
Sony lists a vertical stand for PS5 and PS5 Pro as a separate purchase. Its compatibility information includes PS5 CFI-1000 and CFI-2000 Slim groups as well as Pro. Include it in the cost comparison only if your setup needs one, and verify compatibility for the particular console.
