When is the PS6 release date?
There is no confirmed PS6 release date. In March 2026, VICE reported that hardware leaker KeplerL2 had claimed on NeoGAF that the PS6 and a rumored companion handheld were still on track for a Holiday 2027 launch. That is an attributed leak, not an announcement from Sony.
The “November 2027” date sometimes attached to the rumor is an inference from the phrase “Holiday 2027” and Sony’s past launch pattern. Neither Sony nor the reported leaker supplied November as a specific launch month.
Is the PS6 delayed?
That is not established either. Coverage points to two different possibilities, but they do not have equal evidentiary weight:

The clearest statement about Sony’s confirmed position came in May 2026. According to IBTimes UK’s account of the fiscal-year earnings briefing, Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki said: “We have not yet decided on at what timing we will launch the new console, or at what prices. So we would like to really observe and follow the situation.” That does not rule out internal plans changing later, but it means neither reported window should be treated as Sony’s settled schedule.
Is Sony making a PS6 handheld?
A standalone handheld is rumored, but the cited coverage does not establish that Sony has announced or confirmed one. The Holiday 2027 claim covered both the PS6 and a companion handheld; Sony’s public comments about its hardware strategy do not verify that rumor.

In June 2026, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino discussed consoles and technology being used in “various forms and locations,” as well as the importance of “pick up and play.” TechRadar reported his statement: “My belief that a console is necessary for playing games hasn’t changed.” These are broad comments about Sony’s approach to play, not specifications, an announcement, or a release date for a native PS6 handheld.
How the rumor differs from PlayStation Portal
TechRadar describes PlayStation Portal as a remote player that lets PS5 owners play PS5 games through the handheld device. Portal’s existing role is not evidence that a rumored future device exists or that it would run games locally. The cited reporting establishes no PS6 handheld specifications or compatibility promises.
