There is no PUBG: Black Budget Closed Alpha open for signup, and no future test date has been announced. The first alpha ran in December 2025, the second in June 2026, and PUBG STUDIOS announced on September 30, 2026, that it had ended development of the game.
Can you still sign up for the PUBG: Black Budget alpha?
No. Both announced closed alphas have ended, and PUBG STUDIOS has discontinued development. The latest official update says: “We have therefore made the difficult decision to end development of PUBG: Black Budget.” PUBG STUDIOS’ September 30, 2026 Steam update does not announce another test or an open application window. A Steam store-page control, if visible, should not be taken as evidence that a new playtest is available.
When did the closed alphas take place?
| Test | Application period and route | Test schedule |
|---|---|---|
| First Closed Alpha | Applications opened December 8, 2025. Players could apply through the announced channels; Twitch and Chzzk Drops also offered keys to participants who linked a KRAFTON ID to their streaming-platform ID. | Second Closed Alpha | Applications opened May 8, 2026 through the “Request Playtest” button on the PUBG: Black Budget Steam store page. Second-alpha application announcement | June 26, 2026 at 08:00 UTC to June 29, 2026 at 08:00 UTC (17:00 KST on both dates). Second-alpha schedule announcement |
How did signup and selection work for the second alpha?
The historical application process was through Steam, not a guaranteed-access registration. Applicants visited the game’s Steam store page and selected “Request Playtest.” Selection was limited: Steam notified chosen players, and access was rolled out on a rolling basis. For selected players, the game appeared in their Steam library when the test began. These instructions describe the completed June 2026 test, not an active signup route.
Who was eligible, and what PC did the second alpha require?
The second alpha was for PC on Steam and was announced for North America, Europe, and Asia, subject to technical or regional constraints. Its listed languages were English, Korean, Chinese, Russian, and Turkish. Its published minimum requirements applied to that test only:

Second-alpha announcement and requirements
How did the first alpha differ?
The first test also covered North America, Europe, and Asia, but its announcement listed English, Korean, Chinese, and Russian—not Turkish. Its PC requirements were separately stated and should not be combined with the second test’s specifications:
- Windows 10 minimum; Windows 11 recommended
- Six-core Intel or AMD equivalent CPU
- NVIDIA RTX 2060 or AMD equivalent, with at least 8 GB VRAM
- 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 30 GB disk space, and stable broadband
The first test was first-person only. Its announcement is hosted by bbpubg.com, which identifies itself as a fan-made community hub and disclaims affiliation with KRAFTON or PUBG STUDIOS; treat it as a reproduced historical announcement rather than an official publisher site.
