Yes—PUBG Mobile 120-fps support on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold5 is real. Samsung and Tencent introduced the feature with PUBG Mobile version 3.2, released on May 13, 2024. It is not an upcoming feature or a device hack, although the option you see today can still depend on your game build, region, firmware and Samsung’s gaming-service configuration.
At launch, the supported phones were the Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra and Z Fold5. Here is how to check compatibility, enable the 120-fps mode and troubleshoot it when Ultra Extreme does not appear.
Which Galaxy phones support PUBG Mobile at 120 fps?
Samsung’s launch documentation listed these models:
| Phone | Launch support |
|---|---|
| Galaxy S23 | Supported |
| Galaxy S23+ | Supported |
| Galaxy S23 Ultra | Supported |
| Galaxy S23 FE | Not listed |
| Galaxy S24 | Supported |
| Galaxy S24+ | Supported |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra | Supported |
| Galaxy Z Fold5 | Supported |
| Galaxy Z Fold4 | Not listed |
Samsung’s support documentation also said that both Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the Galaxy S24 series were included. That does not mean every Galaxy phone with a 120-Hz screen is compatible: PUBG Mobile uses device-specific compatibility and optimization profiles. The Galaxy S23 FE, Z Fold4, Z Flip5 and other models should not be treated as supported based only on their display refresh rate.

What software is required?
The launch-era requirements were:
- PUBG Mobile 3.2 or newer.
- Samsung Game Optimizing Service 3.6.03.18, or a newer applicable release.
- A Galaxy display setting that allows the high refresh-rate mode.
Game Optimizing Service versions can change over time, so 3.6.03.18 should be understood as the version cited around the 2024 launch—not necessarily the exact requirement for every PUBG Mobile build in 2026. Samsung’s later Game Booster documentation also notes that available controls can vary by device, software version and region.
How to enable 120 fps in PUBG Mobile
- Update PUBG Mobile. Use Google Play, Galaxy Store or the official app store applicable to your region.
- Update Game Optimizing Service. Open Galaxy Store → Menu → Updates and install any available update for Game Optimizing Service.
- Enable the high refresh-rate display mode. Open Settings → Display → Motion smoothness, then choose Adaptive or the highest available refresh-rate option. Samsung says Power saving mode can force the display back to Standard refresh rate.
- Open PUBG Mobile and enter its graphics settings. Depending on the build and language, the path may appear as Settings → Graphics and Audio or a similar graphics menu.
- Set graphics quality to Smooth if necessary. In the launch-era implementation, the highest frame-rate option was associated with the Smooth preset.
- Select Ultra Extreme. At launch, Ultra Extreme was the label used for PUBG Mobile’s 120-fps mode.
Menu names can change between PUBG Mobile builds, regional editions and interface revisions. Selecting Ultra Extreme sets a frame-rate ceiling; it does not guarantee that the phone will render at 120 fps throughout an entire match.

120 Hz, 120 fps and sustained performance are different
These terms are often confused:
- 120-Hz display: The screen can refresh up to 120 times per second.
- 120-fps game setting: PUBG Mobile is allowed to render up to 120 frames per second.
- Sustained 120-fps performance: The phone actually maintains that output during play, including after it heats up.
A 120-Hz screen is necessary to display 120 distinct frames per second, but it does not make every game render at 120 fps. Heat, battery-saving behavior, background activity and thermal throttling can reduce the actual frame rate. Samsung also warns that higher refresh-rate modes can use more battery.
What 120 fps changes in PUBG Mobile
When the phone and game can sustain the higher frame rate, camera movement and animation should look smoother. Some players may also notice more responsive aiming and lower local input-to-display delay, particularly during fast camera movement or close-range fights.

It does not improve ping, internet quality, server latency or server-side hit registration. Those depend on the network and game servers. A higher local frame rate can make controls feel more immediate, but it cannot compensate for a poor connection.
The trade-off: 120 fps versus image quality
On the launch configuration, Ultra Extreme was tied to the Smooth graphics preset. That creates a practical choice:

|---|---|---|
| 120 fps / Ultra Extreme | Competitive players and short sessions | Higher heat and battery use; potentially lower visual detail |
| 90 fps | Longer sessions and steadier performance | Less fluid than 120 fps, but often a better balance |
| 60 fps or higher graphics | Casual play and image quality | Lower motion fluidity, but reduced power use and heat |
Choose 120 fps if responsiveness matters most and you accept higher power consumption. Choose 90 fps if 120 fps causes throttling or unstable frame pacing. A lower frame-rate mode may be preferable in warm conditions or when visual quality and battery life matter more.

- It offers a 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 48-120 Hz refresh rate plus up to ~ 1750 nits peak brightness and “Vision Booster,” meaning the screen stays bright and viewable even in strong sunlight — great if you use your phone outdoors a lot.
Why Ultra Extreme is missing
Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm that the phone is one of the documented launch models.
- Confirm that you are running PUBG Mobile, not BGMI or another regional variant with a different configuration.
- Update PUBG Mobile completely.
- Update Game Optimizing Service through Galaxy Store.
- Set PUBG Mobile’s graphics quality to Smooth.
- Open Settings → Display → Motion smoothness and avoid Standard mode.
- Turn off Power saving mode.
- Restart the phone after installing updates.
- Check Game Booster for a per-game frame-rate cap or optimization setting.
- Allow for regional, account-level or game-build differences. A later update may expose a different graphics configuration from the one used at launch.
Do not use modified APKs, game files, device spoofing or unofficial frame-rate tools. They are not part of Samsung’s documented support path and can create security or account-enforcement risks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the game falls back to 60 or 90 fps
Ultra Extreme is a maximum target, not a permanent performance guarantee. A drop can result from:
- Thermal throttling after a long session.
- High ambient temperature or direct sunlight.
- Playing while fast-charging.
- Background applications using CPU or GPU resources.
- Battery-saving behavior.
- Game Booster or Game Optimizing Service applying a limit.
- A later firmware or PUBG Mobile update changing the device profile.
Remove a thick case, close demanding background apps and avoid direct sunlight. If the phone becomes hot or frame pacing becomes unstable, try 90 fps. An external cooler may reduce surface temperature in some situations, but it cannot override every software or thermal limit and adds cost, bulk and noise.

Is a supported phone worth buying for PUBG Mobile?
Not on 120-fps support alone. The documented feature launched in 2024, and the S23 and Z Fold5 are older devices by 2026. Availability, pricing and current PUBG compatibility should be checked for the exact regional model and software build before buying. Newer phones and dedicated gaming phones may offer different cooling and sustained-performance characteristics.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 can offer a larger play area and multitasking advantages, but it is a foldable with older hardware and may cost more than a conventional phone with similar gaming performance. The S23 may be attractive as a used or refurbished option, while the S24 remains the more current mainstream choice among the models covered here. None should be purchased solely because a 120-fps option existed at launch.
The bottom line
PUBG Mobile did get official 120-fps support on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold5 families with version 3.2 on May 13, 2024. Update both PUBG Mobile and Samsung’s Game Optimizing Service, enable Adaptive Motion smoothness, use Smooth graphics if required and select Ultra Extreme. If the option is missing or performance falls back, check the exact model, regional game build, power settings and Game Booster configuration—and remember that 120 fps is an upper limit, not a promise of constant performance.
