PUBG MOBILE Japan’s update notice scheduled the release for May 8, 2025; the detailed patch notes list the mode through July 7, 2025 at 05:59 Japan time. That event has ended. The official material cited here confirms a Japan notice and a separate BGMI announcement for India, but does not establish that every region launched the update on the same date.
What PUBG update 3.8 refers to
This was PUBG MOBILE Version 3.8.0, not an update to the PC and console game PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, which follows a separate update numbering sequence. The PUBG MOBILE notice named Steampunk Frontier and Royale Pass A13 among the update’s main changes. PUBG MOBILE Japan’s May 2, 2025 update notice scheduled Version 3.8.0 for May 8, 2025 and said no maintenance was planned for the release.
For India, KRAFTON India announced BGMI 3.8 on May 15, 2025, describing its limited-time mode and mentioning Titan battles and ODM gear. That is a separate regional announcement, not evidence that every PUBG MOBILE or BGMI region received the update at once. KRAFTON India’s BGMI 3.8 announcement also mentioned India-specific items such as Sting joining BGMI as its official energy power-up.
When Steampunk Frontier ran
The PUBG MOBILE Japan patch notes give the mode period as after the May 8, 2025 update through July 7, 2025 at 05:59 Japan time. This is a past, limited-time event, not a currently available mode. The time and dates are from the Japan patch notes; they should not be assumed to describe every regional version’s exact rollout or schedule. The Version 3.8.0 patch notes were updated May 26, 2025.

Maps, queues and the themed gameplay
The patch notes describe a Steampunk Frontier layer across Erangel, Livik and Rondo. The listed map and queue availability was:
- Erangel: ranked and unranked; solo, duo and squad; TPP or FPP.
- Livik: ranked; solo, duo and squad; TPP or FPP.
- Rondo: ranked; solo, duo and squad; TPP or FPP.
Its central loop combined themed destinations, loot, transport and traversal activities. Features were not identical to ordinary map play, and the notes distinguish one Erangel-only feature from attractions placed across the three maps.

Rail towns and trains
Each map had one rail town featuring a summonable secret train, loot drops, a clock tower with an elevator and loot crates, and lucky gear machines. Scheduled passenger trains also carried loot and included a shop. The notes describe these as separate train features, so the secret train should not be confused with the scheduled passenger service.
Transport hubs and ways to move
Cargo transport hubs included movement rails and a steam device that unlocked a rare crate. Hot-air balloons could rise into the air, letting players descend by glider. Cyclone coasters paired loot with an amusement-ride activity. Erangel also had a starting-island preview; the patch notes do not list that preview for Livik or Rondo.

- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
Shops and breakable objects
Robot-run attendant shops sold recovery drinks, while machine merchant shops offered special items and currency exchange. Wooden boxes could be broken. Together with the train and hub loot, these features created several ways to find supplies beyond simply searching standard buildings.
Attack on Titan additions were documented later
The May 26 patch-note update added Attack on Titan collaboration content. It listed a Colossal Titan appearance off Erangel’s northeast coast and a recreated Utgard Castle, alongside ODM gear for fast aerial movement and blade attacks, gas supplies, and transformation potions that temporarily turned players into Titans. These are later patch-note additions; the May 8 launch notice alone does not establish that every collaboration feature was available on day one.

How BGMI 3.8 differed in the India announcement
KRAFTON India’s May 15 announcement presented BGMI 3.8 as a limited-time mode and highlighted Titan battles and ODM gear. It also named PepsiCo’s Sting as BGMI’s official energy power-up and mentioned an Anniversary Edition Crate and a BMPS 2025 prize pool campaign. Those details belong to the India announcement and should not be generalized to PUBG MOBILE globally or treated as evidence of an ongoing sponsorship. Read the BGMI 3.8 announcement from KRAFTON India.

The available official notices do not document a complete region-by-region deployment record. They establish that PUBG MOBILE Japan announced Version 3.8.0 for May 8, 2025, and that KRAFTON India separately announced BGMI 3.8 on May 15. They do not prove a single worldwide launch date. For a specific player’s availability, the relevant comparison is the game version (PUBG MOBILE or BGMI), region, date and time zone, map, ranked status, and whether a feature appeared in the initial announcement or a later patch-note update.
