In a 2020 developer communication, PUBG said it had received more packet-loss reports from North American and European players after applying external DDoS defenses. The team said the issue had been mitigated “quite a bit” while it continued investigating causes and optimizing routes. That statement does not establish that a current PC packet-loss problem has the same cause or is currently acknowledged.
What PUBG acknowledged in 2020
The PUBG development team wrote: “After some of the external DDos solutions were applied, we began to receive a higher amount of packet loss reports from NA and EU players.” The same 2020 communication said the reports had been mitigated “quite a bit,” while some issues remained and the team was working on cause analysis and route optimization. This was a qualitative report: PUBG did not give a count or percentage of affected players. It also does not prove the cause of any later player’s packet loss. The available official material does not verify a present-day acknowledgment specifically about a new NA or EU PC incident.
How to tell whether the problem may be local or broader
Packet loss symptoms alone cannot identify whether the source is a PC, wireless connection, router, ISP, network route, or game service. Compare conditions rather than assuming a server fault:

- Wi-Fi versus wired Ethernet: PUBG Support says wireless connections are more exposed to environmental interference that can increase ping or packet loss. Test with Ethernet if possible.
- Home connection versus an alternate connection: A brief mobile-tethering test can help compare paths. Disable VPNs and other third-party networking software during diagnosis.
- One player versus teammates: Ask whether teammates in the same match see the same symptoms. Shared reports are useful context, but do not by themselves identify a server-side cause.
- One match versus repeated matches: Note whether the issue recurs across matches and server selections, and record the server or match ID where it occurs.
These are diagnostic comparisons, not guaranteed fixes or proof of where the fault lies. Check current notices through PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Official Announcements and the PUBG Support site.
What to try on PC
PUBG Support’s connectivity guidance recommends these checks. Treat them as tests; none guarantees a fix if the issue is outside your home network.

- Check PUBG’s server status using the status link in the PUBG Support connectivity guidance.
- Restart your PC and router. If you use PUBG Steam launch options, remove them for a test.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to wired Ethernet, then compare the result. This tests whether wireless interference may be contributing.
- Check with your ISP for an outage or temporary service issue. PUBG Support also recommends keeping router firmware and network-adapter drivers up to date.
- Try an alternate connection, such as mobile tethering, and temporarily disable a VPN or other third-party networking software to compare results.
- Use PUBG Support’s DNS and router suggestions only as directed by its guide. Do not disable the router firewall as a routine troubleshooting step; the guide warns against doing so.
What to include in a support request
If the problem continues, send PUBG Support enough detail to investigate the specific occurrence:
- When the packet loss began and whether it is continuous or intermittent
- Your country and usual region
- The server ID or match ID where you experienced it
- Your ISP provider
- A concise description of what happened and which connection tests you tried
That information helps support assess the report; it does not guarantee a particular diagnosis or response.
