PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Update 36.1, released in June 2025, overhauled Ranked with two new tiers, shared rank progression across queues and a wider set of gameplay features. The changes described here are those announced for Season 36; they are not a guide to Ranked rules in October 2026, since later updates may have changed them.
What Update 36.1 changed in Ranked
PUBG said the goal was to narrow the gap between Normal Match and Ranked, so players would encounter fewer differences in rules and play style on the way to esports. The developer letter also said the added tier and fewer divisions were intended to make progression easier to see. Those are the publisher’s aims, not evidence of measured player outcomes. Crystal and Survivor joined the tier ladder
Update 36.1 inserted Crystal between Platinum and Diamond and made Survivor the new highest tier. The number of divisions in each tier went from five to four. PUBG described Survivor as replacing the existing Top 500 tier. (PUBG Update 36.1 patch notes; PUBG developer letter)
Survivor was not reached by RP alone. Players needed at least 3,700 live RP and 3,700 leaderboard RP, and had to place among the designated top players for their region. Slot counts varied by platform and region and could change with matchmaking conditions. The patch notes listed:

These are the slot counts PUBG published for Update 36.1, not a guarantee of current caps. Survivor had no Tier Protection: falling below 3,700 live RP after promotion caused immediate demotion to Master. PUBG said a player who returned to 3,700 or more before the next leaderboard update could regain Survivor. (Update 36.1 patch notes)
Rank and RP were shared across queues
Ranked tiers and RP became shared between Duo and Squad, as well as between first-person perspective (FPP) and third-person perspective (TPP). A player therefore no longer had a separate Ranked tier and RP total for each of those queue combinations under the 36.1 rules.

All players started Season 36 at 1,500 RP. PUBG specified that this reset was for Season 36 only; from Season 37, placement was to return to using the previous season’s final RP, as before. Ranked match RP gains and losses were adjusted to a range of −44 to +44. Team-kill and suicide penalties began subtracting RP directly rather than reducing kill count. (Update 36.1 patch notes)
Duo availability depended on platform, region and perspective
Duo was added to Ranked, but not in every queue combination. The patch notes specified these availability limits:

Ranked gained features and items from Normal Match
Update 36.1 brought a broad set of systems and equipment into Ranked: Match Log, a throwable-cooking timer UI, Recall, Red Zone, the ability to call a BRDM-2 with a Flare Gun, Tactical Pack, EMT Gear, All-In-One Repair Kit, Inflatable Boat, C4 and Zipline Gun. Other notable changes in Update 36.1
Weapon balance and spawn changes
The patch lowered AUG damage from 41 to 40 and reduced its aim punch by approximately 50%. PUBG called this the first individual-weapon aim-punch adjustment since the new aim-punch system arrived in Update 35.1. The VSS received several changes: damage rose from 43 to 45, muzzle velocity from 330 m/s to 430 m/s, and damage falloff began at 50 m instead of zero. Its zeroing intervals changed from 25 m to 100 m, with maximum zeroing distance increased to 300 m. Muzzle Brake vertical recoil control rose from +8% to +10%. Weapon availability also changed. VSS, Mini14, Sawed-Off, SCAR-L, S12K and Vector became world spawns on all maps, while some other weapons became map-specific. Consult the patch notes for the full map-by-map spawn list; the 36.1 changes do not establish present-day spawns.

DMR changes were a limited-time test
PUBG announced a DMR Rebalance test in Gunplay Labs for Intense Battle Royale, TPP and Squad only. The planned PC test window was June 18–July 2, 2025; console’s was June 26–July 10. The developer described the changes as a test intended to inform a future update, subject to tuning based on data and player feedback—not as a permanent 36.1 Ranked change. (Update 36.1 patch notes)
Maps, Arcade and interface updates
Other documented changes included Vending Machines and Destructible Pots on Vikendi in Normal and Ranked, a Team Deathmatch map removal, and revised supply-drop contents in Intense Battle Royale. Console also gained a Same Language Team option for Normal Duo and Squad; it was unavailable for Featured Map and Casual Mode. The update additionally included Workshop and free-reward content, Custom Match assistance UI, customization filters, settings changes and performance fixes. (Update 36.1 patch notes)
When Update 36.1 went live
PUBG’s June 10, 2025 patch notes listed a PC live maintenance window of June 11, 00:00–08:30 UTC, and a console window of June 19, 01:00–09:00 UTC. The publisher noted scheduled times could change. (Update 36.1 patch notes)
