Quarantine Zone: Miami Zero is a free prequel campaign DLC for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, released on October 15, 2026. On Steam, you need to own the base game to claim and play it. On Xbox Series X|S and PC, Xbox Game Pass provides the listed access route, so you do not buy Miami Zero as a separate game. The campaign is also available at no additional charge to owners of the original game.

Miami Zero is a prequel campaign for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. It moves the story to Miami, at the origin of the infection, rather than presenting a separate standalone release. The campaign keeps the checkpoint-management premise while adding a different setting, systems and narrative context.
The official announcement gives October 15, 2026 as the release date. Miami Zero is described as DLC rather than a separately sold sequel. That distinction determines how you should buy it: the important purchase is access to the base game, not a standalone Miami Zero license.

These additions make Miami Zero more than a short story appendage: it uses the familiar checkpoint structure but adds research and escape-planning decisions around it.
Do you need the base game?
Yes, if you are buying through Steam. The base game is the purchase prerequisite for the free Miami Zero DLC entitlement. Once Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is in your Steam library, Miami Zero can be added through the game’s DLC or store listing without a separate DLC charge.
On Xbox, the access model is different. Xbox Wire lists Miami Zero for Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Xbox and PC Game Pass, and describes it as free to owners of the original game. If you use Game Pass, the service is the route through which you access the base game and its Miami Zero content; you do not purchase a second Miami Zero product. Availability remains subject to the applicable Game Pass catalog and account terms.

The key distinction is ownership versus subscription access. A Steam owner has a permanent base-game purchase tied to the account, while a Game Pass player uses the service’s catalog access. Neither route requires paying a second standalone price for Miami Zero itself.

Is Miami Zero free?
For owners of the original game, yes: the official announcement says the DLC is available at no additional cost. That does not make the base game free on Steam. You still need Quarantine Zone: The Last Check in your Steam library before the Miami Zero entitlement can apply.
The Xbox announcement also identifies Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox Series X|S as an access route. In that case, the practical cost is the subscription you use to access the base game and DLC, rather than a separate Miami Zero purchase. Check the live Game Pass listing for current catalog status before subscribing or installing, because catalog availability and subscription terms can change.
What “free DLC” does and does not mean
- It means there is no separate Miami Zero DLC price for an eligible base-game owner.
- It does not turn the Steam base game into a free-to-play title.
- It does not establish a separately sold Miami Zero edition.
- It does not mean optional supporter packs or a soundtrack are included automatically.
Platforms and where to play
Miami Zero is listed for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The PC routes are Steam and PC Game Pass. Xbox Series X|S players can use the Xbox store or Xbox Game Pass. The cited announcements do not list a PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or last-generation Xbox release, so do not assume those versions exist from the PC and Xbox listings alone.
Steam PC
Steam is the straightforward option if you already own the base game there. Buy or install Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, open its store or DLC section, and confirm that Miami Zero is attached to the same Steam account. If the campaign does not appear immediately, restart the Steam client and check the game’s Properties > DLC page.

Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Series X|S is a supported console platform. Owners of the original game receive Miami Zero at no additional DLC cost, while Game Pass subscribers can use the catalog route identified by Xbox Wire.
PC Game Pass
PC Game Pass is useful if you want to play on Windows without buying the base game outright. Install the title from the Xbox app for PC, sign in with the account that holds the subscription, and look for Miami Zero within the installed game’s add-ons or campaign menu. The PC still has to meet the game’s published requirements.

The Steam listing provides two configurations. The minimum specification targets low quality at 1080p and 30+ frames per second. The recommended specification targets high quality at 1080p and 60 frames per second. Both require DirectX 12 and 12 GB of available storage.

How to interpret the minimum specification
The minimum list is not a promise of high settings or a locked 60 FPS experience. It is a low-quality 1080p target at 30 or more frames per second. Leave additional disk space beyond the stated 12 GB for installation files, updates and the operating system. A PC that only barely meets the listed processor or graphics requirement may need lower image-quality settings or a frame-rate cap to maintain consistent play.

What the recommended specification gives you
The recommended configuration doubles the memory to 16 GB and moves to substantially newer processor and graphics classes. It is the appropriate target if you want the published high-quality 1080p/60 FPS goal rather than merely launching the campaign. The table describes a target, not a guarantee for every laptop, driver version or background workload.
Before installing on PC
- Confirm that Windows reports a 64-bit installation; both listed operating systems are x64 editions.
- Check that your graphics driver supports DirectX 12.
- Keep at least 12 GB free on the installation drive, with headroom for updates.
- Compare your processor, graphics card and RAM with the minimum or recommended row rather than judging by the game’s title alone.
- If you use a laptop, verify which GPU the game will select; integrated graphics may not match the discrete GPU listed by Steam.
Edition choices and optional DLC
The official Steam listing presents the base game and a Deluxe Edition bundle. It also lists separate Miami Supporter Pack, Supporter Pack and Soundtrack DLC items. The available evidence does not document a separate paid Miami Zero edition.

Bundle contents, discounts and prices can change. Treat the Deluxe Edition as a purchase decision about the bundle’s included extras, not as a requirement for Miami Zero. If your only goal is the prequel campaign, the least complicated Steam route is to own the base game and claim the free DLC. If you want the additional bundle items, compare the live Deluxe listing with the cost of buying the base game and any optional packs separately.

Choose Steam when you want permanent PC ownership
Steam is the clearest fit if you prefer a conventional purchase tied to your PC library and already own the base game there. It also lets you compare the base game, Deluxe Edition bundle and optional packs in one storefront. You must still meet the Windows and hardware requirements.

Choose PC Game Pass when you want to try it through a subscription
PC Game Pass makes sense if you already subscribe or want catalog access instead of buying the base game immediately. It is still a Windows PC version, so the same published PC requirements apply. Confirm the current listing in the Xbox app before installing.
Choose Xbox Series X|S when you play on current-generation Xbox
Xbox Series X|S is the console route named in the announcement. Use an owned copy of the original game or the Xbox Game Pass listing, depending on how you normally access the base title.
Choose the Deluxe bundle only for its extras
Nothing in the cited listing requires Deluxe to unlock Miami Zero. Buy it because you value its included base-game extras, not because you expect a different Miami Zero campaign or a separate entitlement.

Steam
- Sign in to the Steam account that owns Quarantine Zone: The Last Check.
- Install or update the base game from your Library.
- Open the game’s store page or Library Properties and inspect the DLC section for Miami Zero.
- Enable the DLC if Steam shows an unchecked install option, then allow the download to complete.
- Launch the base game and look for the Miami Zero campaign in the campaign or new-game selection.
Xbox Series X|S
- Sign in to the Xbox account that owns the original game or has the applicable Game Pass access.
- Install the base game from My games & apps or the Xbox store.
- Check the game’s Manage game and add-ons screen for the Miami Zero content.
- Install any listed campaign component, apply updates, and launch the game.

Common purchase and installation problems
“Miami Zero” is not listed after buying the base game
First confirm that you bought the base game on the same Steam, Xbox or Microsoft account you are currently using. On Steam, restart the client and inspect the game’s DLC tab. On Xbox or PC Game Pass, open the game’s Manage installation screen and apply any pending update. Because Miami Zero is DLC, it may not appear as a separate library game.
The store shows a price for an add-on
Check the product name carefully. The Steam listing includes supporter packs and a soundtrack, which are separate optional products. Those are not evidence that the Miami Zero campaign has a separate paid price. The campaign’s documented entitlement is free for base-game owners.
Your PC meets the minimum but performance is poor
The minimum target is low quality at 1080p and 30+ FPS, not high settings at 60 FPS. Reduce quality settings, close background applications, update the graphics driver and verify that the game is using the discrete GPU. If you want the published high-quality 1080p/60 target, compare your system with the recommended processor, 16 GB RAM and graphics requirements.
The download will not start
Verify available storage, install pending platform updates and restart the client. Steam users should check the DLC checkbox in Properties; Xbox users should check Manage game and add-ons. A subscription-based installation also requires the account with the active catalog entitlement to be signed in.
