The story follows Tifalia, whose life changes after a dragon crash-lands nearby. She encounters CIRCUS, a traveling performance troupe whose unsuccessful show leaves it in need of a producer. Tifalia joins the group as it travels and performs in an effort to save its crown prince. Nintendo’s synopsis also describes the performers’ attempt to bring joy to audiences and free the prince from a curse. That setup makes the troupe and its shared adventure central to the premise, alongside the individual character relationships.
What do reviews say?
On the Metacritic page checked in 2026, Radiant Tale had an 87 Metascore from six critic reviews and an 8.4 user score from five ratings. The excerpts shown there generally praise the colorful presentation, characters, and uplifting fantasy tone, while also flagging potential differences in what players expect from the romance and story. Digitally Downloaded’s August 15, 2023 excerpt calls it “a well-written and well-meaning romance story” about performers on a magical adventure. TouchArcade’s September 13, 2023 excerpt praises its uplifting feel, memorable characters, story, and visuals. These are the reviewers’ assessments, not guarantees that every player will respond the same way.
There are qualifications in the coverage. Noisy Pixel’s July 27, 2023 excerpt praises pacing and fantasy elements but says romance takes a back seat and mentions a few translation issues. Radiant Tale -Fanfare! is a separate follow-up, not a feature set to assume is included in the original game. Nintendo describes it as adding three modes, new stories, and routes for two side characters, and lists June 27, 2024 as its US release date.
