Varuna Point’s story route runs from the upper construction structure into a submerged building, then back to the crane. Repair the spotlight to move the jellyfish blocking the underwater entrance; find the Motherlode Key during the submerged section, defeat the Rhino Shark, and return to the surface for the Crane Key and crane sequence.

How Varuna Point’s progression works

Varuna Point is a story location in Raft’s Final Chapter, also referred to as Chapter 3. The island is a partly submerged construction site, and its crane is the main surface landmark. Follow the journal and use the structures as reference points: first explore the accessible upper structure, then descend into the submerged building, and return to the surface after the boss encounter.

The broad progression sequence is consistent across the available walkthroughs, but exact room turns and every collectible position can vary in how guides describe them. Use the landmarks and gates below rather than relying on a single coordinate or an assumed turn-by-turn map.

Collect spotlight parts and open the underwater route

  1. Explore the accessible upper structure and nearby routes for the spotlight components. Pick up each part you encounter; the spotlight needs to be repaired before the jellyfish-blocked route can be used.
  2. Find the spotlight fixture and install the collected parts to activate it.
  3. Use the repaired light on the glowing jellyfish blocking the underwater building’s entrance. Illumination makes them move, opening the way through.

Story notes are located along the route beyond the jellyfish. Keep checking rooms as you advance rather than assuming every note is directly beside a progression item.

Search the submerged building for the Motherlode Key

Continue through the underwater structure and its hazards. The Motherlode Key is a progression item in this section; keep exploring the building until you find it, along with the Advanced Headlight blueprint identified in walkthroughs for this stretch. The key leads into the Rhino Shark encounter, so do not return to the crane expecting the surface sequence to replace this submerged progression.

Defeat the Rhino Shark

The Rhino Shark encounter takes place in the submerged structure and blocks the story route onward. Treat it as a boss fight: use the arena and its environmental features to create openings, then continue the encounter until the shark is defeated. The available sources establish the fight’s place in the route, but not a single verified, room-by-room combat strategy, so avoid relying on an exact attack pattern or timing as universal advice.

After the encounter, continue through the newly accessible progression and head back toward the surface. The Crane Key belongs to the later crane section, not the initial spotlight route.

Return to the crane for the Crane Key

Use the crane structure as your next landmark after resurfacing. Search its route for the Crane Key and the Wind Turbine blueprint. Once you have the key, proceed with the crane sequence: operating the crane drops its load onto the other construction structure and opens the continuation route.

Notes and optional completion pickups

Walkthrough material describes seven Varuna Point notes, with pickups along the submerged route, around the crane structure, and after the crane sequence. The broad placement is useful for checking areas as you pass, but exact positions for all seven are not established here; this is a story-progression walkthrough rather than a verified, item-by-item note map. The Electric Grill blueprint is also listed among the major blueprint milestones associated with Varuna Point.

For a complete collectible sweep, revisit side rooms and the crane-side structure after opening new routes, and consult the in-game journal to see whether a story entry remains missing. Do not assume that collecting the progression keys alone completes every note or blueprint pickup.
