Ragnarok Origin: ROO is a separate regional service, not an upgrade or account migration from Ragnarok Origin NA (ROONA). The publisher announced ROO for North and Latin America with a dedicated PC client and cross-play, while ROONA would continue separately. ROONA characters, items, and progress could not be transferred to ROO, so existing players should choose based first on their current account and country.
The short answer
“Ragnarok Origin” is used for the overall game and for several regional services, which is why the names are easy to confuse. In the North American publisher’s notice, Ragnarok Origin NA (ROONA) was the existing service and ROO: Ragnarok Origin was announced as an entirely new service. The notice stated that the two would run separately.

That distinction has three practical consequences:
- ROONA progress did not move to ROO. The announcement said technical limitations prevented carrying over account data or progress.
- ROO was intended to cover North America and Latin America, with a dedicated PC client and cross-play.
- ROONA events and services were announced as continuing separately after ROO launched, although that was a historical service notice. Current uptime, store listings and local support should be checked for your country.
Gravity’s 2025 Form 20-F later recorded the commercial launch of Ragnarok Origin in North, Central and South America in February 2024. That filing confirms the regional launch timing, but it does not turn ROONA and ROO into one shared account system.
What ROONA and ROO actually refer to
ROONA: the earlier North American service
ROONA is the abbreviation used by the North American publisher for its earlier Ragnarok Origin service. It was already operating when the ROO announcement was issued. The publisher said ROONA would be removed from mobile app stores under store policies, while remaining downloadable through the publisher’s website. Its events and services were expected to continue independently after ROO’s release.

That wording describes a distribution change, not a shutdown-and-replacement process. A player who had a ROONA character was still playing on the ROONA service and did not receive a new ROO character automatically. Removing an app-store listing also does not by itself erase an installed game, invalidate an account or merge its data with another operator; it changes how a new or returning player obtains the client.
ROO: the expanded service
ROO was presented as a “completely new game” and a separate service. The announcement specifically highlighted a dedicated PC client with cross-play and an intended audience covering North America and Latin America. Gravity’s later corporate filing uses the broader North, Central and South American region for the February 2024 launch record.
The regional wording matters. “Global,” “NA,” and “ROO” are often used loosely in community discussions, but an account’s available servers, storefront, events and support are determined by the service serving the player’s country. The official material does not establish that every American country has identical access or identical service rules.

| Decision point | ROONA | ROO | What the official material establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Relationship | Existing North American service | New, separate service | The publisher explicitly said ROO would run separately from the current ROONA. |
| Intended region | North America | North America and Latin America | The announcement described the expansion; Gravity later recorded the Americas launch in February 2024. |
| PC access | The notice does not provide a complete ROONA client inventory | Dedicated PC client with cross-play announced | The dedicated client is a documented ROO feature; a full ROONA comparison was not supplied. |
| Mobile-store access | Publisher said the app-store listing would be removed, with website download remaining | Local storefront availability varies by territory; the Southeast Asian launch listed mobile stores and a PC client | Store access must be checked in the player’s country and on the player’s device. |
| Existing progress | ROONA characters and progress remain on the ROONA service | No ROONA data or progress carry-over | The publisher cited technical limitations for the lack of migration. |
| Operations at the time of announcement | Events and services were to continue separately | Separate new service | This was the historical launch announcement; present service status is not established by that notice. |
The sources do not establish a complete feature-by-feature comparison. They do not provide verified differences in class progression, server populations, latency, event times, combat balance, item catalogs or every account entitlement. Treating those areas as identical—or claiming one service is definitively better—would go beyond the documented evidence.
Can you transfer a ROONA account to ROO?
No. The official notice states: “Unfortunately, due to the technical limitations, we are unable to carry over any data or progress from ROONA to the upcoming ROO:Ragnarok Origin service.”
In practical terms, a ROONA player should assume that the following stay with ROONA rather than appearing in ROO:
- Character levels and job progress
- Equipment, cards, currencies and other earned items
- Quest, achievement and collection progress
- Any other service-specific account history
The announcement does not provide an exception for particular characters, purchases or login methods. It also does not describe a compensation conversion. If a purchase or entitlement is important to you, ask the support team for the service and country involved before starting over; do not infer portability from the shared Ragnarok Origin name.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat “no transfer” means when you use the same device
Installing the ROO client on a phone or computer that previously ran ROONA does not make the two databases interchangeable. A device is only where the client runs; the service and account region determine which characters and purchases the client can see. Signing in with the same email, platform account or social-login method is therefore not proof that the old character will appear. If the service prompts you to create a new character, stop and confirm the region before spending.

Likewise, deleting ROONA to make room for ROO is not a migration step. Preserve any login details, receipts and support identifiers you may need for the original service. A screenshot of your character name and server can help support identify the correct account, but it does not create a transfer path.
Regional launch dates: why there is no single “global” release
Gravity’s 2025 Form 20-F lists different service-start dates by territory:
| Region | Recorded service start |
|---|---|
| Korea | July 2020 |
| Japan | June 2021 |
| Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau | September 2022 |
| Southeast Asia | April 2023 |
| North, Central and South America | February 2024 |
| China | March 2024 |
These are regional starts, not a single worldwide launch date. The same filing reports that service in Korea and Japan ceased in March 2026. That does not mean every other region ended at the same time; service availability is territory-specific.
For Southeast Asia, a Gravity Game Hub launch announcement dated May 4, 2023 listed the Apple Store, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, OPPO App Market and a PC client. A later official update tutorial dated May 17, 2026 directed players to update through the relevant app store or the PC launcher. Those references document the Southeast Asian distribution channels, not a guarantee that the same stores or launcher are available in North America or Latin America.
How to read regional labels
“NA” can mean a publisher’s North American service, a server located somewhere in North America, or simply a community nickname. “Global” can similarly describe a marketing label rather than a single worldwide account database. The safest identification method is the publisher shown on the login screen, the country selected in the account or store, and the support site that handles the account. Do not use a search-result title or a streamer’s shorthand as proof of regional assignment.
How to decide which service to play
If you already have ROONA progress
- Identify the service attached to your character. Check the game title, launcher and account region rather than relying on the word “global” in a community post.
- Assume progress is non-transferable. The publisher’s notice rules out carrying ROONA data into ROO.
- Check ROONA’s current access route. The historical notice said the mobile-store listing would be removed while a website download remained. Store and launcher status can change, so use the current local support page.
- Compare the cost of starting over. A move to ROO means beginning again, including any paid or earned progression that is service-bound.
If your priority is a high-level character, rare card, refined equipment or a long quest history, staying with the service that owns that data is usually the least disruptive choice. Starting ROO can still make sense for its regional coverage or PC client, but treat it as a fresh game account and budget your time accordingly.
If you are starting for the first time
- Confirm your country’s service. The intended ROO scope was North America and Latin America, while other regions have their own launches and operators.
- Choose your device path. ROO’s announced dedicated PC client supports cross-play; mobile-store options depend on territory and device.
- Read the local account terms. The official sources do not prove that account entitlements, event calendars or server lists match between regions.
- Check current pricing before purchasing. Published ranges differ sharply by region and are dated December 31, 2025.
If PC play is your priority
ROO is the service for which the North American announcement specifically promised a dedicated PC client with cross-play. That lets PC and mobile players use the same service environment where the local client supports it. The announcement does not provide a complete list of ROONA’s PC options, so it cannot be used to claim that ROONA offers an equivalent client.

Before installing, check whether your country’s launcher is the same ROO distribution and whether the current client still supports your operating system.

What kind of game is Ragnarok Origin?
Gravity Game Hub’s Southeast Asian launch description presents Ragnarok Origin as an MMORPG sequel to Ragnarok Online. Its feature overview includes familiar jobs, social play, pets and mounts, boss encounters and an open-world setting. The launch material also mentions a pity system for cards and equipment refinement.
Those are broad product features, not proof of parity between every regional service. A job, event, pity rule or refinement cost can be changed by a regional operator or later update. The official sources consulted do not provide a current ROONA-versus-ROO matrix for those systems.
That limitation matters when comparing guides or videos. A build recommendation may reflect a different launch month, operator, card pool or event schedule. Confirm the server and region shown in the creator’s footage before applying a damage formula, upgrade route or class-tier list to your account.
Monetization and regional price ranges
Gravity’s filing describes Ragnarok Origin as a free-to-play service using microtransactions and a gacha system for virtual items. It reports the following item-purchase ranges as of December 31, 2025:
| Region | Reported purchase range | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Southeast Asia | US$0.59–US$99.99 | Publisher-reported range in Gravity Co., Ltd.’s 2025 filing, measured as of December 31, 2025. |
| North, Central and South America | US$0.99–US$999.99 | Publisher-reported regional range in the same filing, as of December 31, 2025. |
| Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau | US$0.99–US$99.99 | Publisher-reported range in the same filing, as of December 31, 2025. |
| China | CNY 6–CNY 6,498 | Publisher-reported range in the same filing, as of December 31, 2025. |
These figures are regional ranges, not a current shop list or a recommendation to spend. They do not show that every service uses the same exchange rates, bundles, guarantees or gacha odds. The launch description’s mention of pity systems likewise does not establish identical implementation across all regions.
Why the price range should not be treated as a spending guide
The US$0.99–US$999.99 figure for the Americas is a reported range of available item purchases, not an amount a player must spend or a guarantee that a single transaction delivers a specific character or card. The range also does not reveal taxes, payment-provider fees, currency conversion or limited-time bundles. Compare the final checkout amount in your own storefront and read the local probability or virtual-item disclosures before buying.
Most importantly, purchases are tied to the service in which they were made unless that operator states otherwise. A receipt from ROONA should not be assumed to unlock an ROO bundle, and an ROO promotion should not be assumed to appear in a different regional client.

- Which service currently has the larger population or shorter queues
- Whether a particular country is assigned to ROO or another regional operator today
- Current ROONA uptime and the complete status of its website download
- Exact server locations, latency and event reset times
- Whether every job, item, card, event and refinement rule is synchronized between services
- Whether individual purchases or promotional entitlements are recognized across launchers
Check the current service’s local launcher, store listing and support channel for those details. A community answer that calls one version “NA,” “global” or “the official one” may be describing a particular territory rather than the whole game.

Assuming ROO is a patch for ROONA
It was announced as a new, separate service. Installing ROO does not update a ROONA character or convert its account.
Starting a purchase before confirming the region
Virtual items are sold within regional services. Confirm the launcher, account region and currency before paying, especially if you have played more than one version.
Using one region’s launch date as a worldwide date
The recorded starts run from Korea in 2020 through the Americas in 2024, with separate regional operators and distribution channels.
Treating old availability notices as current guarantees
The ROONA app-store and continuation statements came from a historical announcement. A later store policy, launcher update or service decision can change access.
Expecting a complete feature match
No official source in this comparison supplies a full parity table. Verify a specific class, event, server or entitlement with the service that serves your country.
Confusing a launcher problem with lost progress
A missing character can result from selecting the wrong region, server or login method. Before concluding that data has vanished, return to the original service’s launcher, select the original server and use the account-recovery route for that operator. Do not create multiple replacement accounts while troubleshooting a purchase or entitlement.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A practical pre-install checklist
- Country and territory supported by the service
- Correct launcher or mobile storefront
- Whether you are creating a new account or returning to ROONA
- Confirmation that ROONA progress cannot transfer to ROO
- PC cross-play requirement if you plan to switch between PC and mobile
- Current local prices and payment currency
- Current update instructions for your device
- Support contact for purchase, login or entitlement issues
Save the official download page and support contact before changing clients. For the Southeast Asian service, the May 17, 2026 tutorial directs updates through the app stores or PC launcher; other regions may publish different instructions. Keep enough free storage for a client update, and use only the launcher associated with your service rather than an unofficial mirror.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The safest interpretation is straightforward: keep ROONA if preserving its progress is your priority; select ROO when its regional coverage and dedicated PC cross-play match your needs and you accept a new start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ragnarok Origin: ROO the same game as ROONA?
They share the Ragnarok Origin name and broad MMORPG identity, but the North American announcement described ROO as a completely new, separate service from the existing Ragnarok Origin NA (ROONA). Treat them as separate account environments.
Can I move my ROONA character, items or purchases to ROO?
No. The publisher said technical limitations prevented carrying any ROONA data or progress into ROO. The notice gives no general exception for characters, items, purchases or login methods.
Does ROO have a PC version?
The ROO announcement specifically promised a dedicated PC client with cross-play. It did not provide a complete inventory of ROONA PC options, so do not assume the older service has an equivalent client.
Is ROO the global version?
There is no single account service identified as a worldwide version. Gravity records separate regional starts, and the ROO announcement targeted North America and Latin America. Check the operator, storefront and support page for your country.
When did Ragnarok Origin launch in the Americas?
Gravity’s 2025 Form 20-F records the North, Central and South American commercial launch in February 2024. That is a regional start date, not a worldwide release date.
Are ROONA servers still online?
The original ROO notice said ROONA events and services would continue separately, but that was a historical statement. Current uptime, download access and server status must be confirmed through the local ROONA support or launcher.
Recommended Free Tools
Are prices and gacha systems identical in every region?
No complete parity statement is documented. Gravity reported different regional purchase ranges as of December 31, 2025, and a launch description mentioned pity systems without guaranteeing identical rules, odds or bundles everywhere.
Which service should a new player choose?
Choose the service officially available in your country, then consider whether you want ROO’s announced PC cross-play and whether you are comfortable starting without ROONA progress. Verify current store access, account terms and prices before creating a purchase history.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: ROO is a separate service from ROONA, with intended North and Latin American coverage and an announced dedicated PC client with cross-play. ROONA progress does not transfer. Existing players should protect the service holding their character; new players should verify their country’s operator, launcher, current availability and prices before choosing.
