Not across the board, according to Ubisoft’s latest update—but high-ranked players still face a more serious problem. On August 7, 2026, Ubisoft said cheating reports in Operation System Override were at their lowest level in recent seasons outside high-ranking match pools. The company also said it wanted to improve anti-cheat impact at Diamond rank and above. Those are Ubisoft’s report figures, not an independently verified measure of how many matches contain cheaters.
How bad is cheating in Rainbow Six Siege right now?
The fairest answer is mixed: Ubisoft reports a lower volume of cheating reports across much of the game, while acknowledging that high-ranking pools remain an exception. Its August 7, 2026 Community Checkpoint described Operation System Override as having the lowest number of cheating reports in recent seasons, except in high-ranking match pools. Ubisoft specifically said it wanted greater anti-cheat impact at Diamond rank and above.
That does not establish the share of matches affected. A report count depends on suspected behavior being noticed and reported, and Ubisoft has not published an independently audited prevalence rate or enough detail to calculate a player’s odds of encountering a cheater. The update supports neither “cheating is solved” nor “every ranked match is full of cheaters.”
Why rank and platform matter
High-ranked PC play
Ubisoft’s stated exception is high-ranking match pools, and Diamond-and-above play is an area it says needs stronger protection. For Legend Division, the company announced app-based two-step verification and the R6 Shieldguard Secure Platform. The described PC protections include Secure Boot to check the firmware, operating system and driver startup chain; VBS/Core Isolation to isolate sensitive Windows processes; and TPM enforcement to cryptographically verify that Secure Boot and VBS are active. These were announced as high-rank measures in the checkpoint, not described as a universal requirement already rolled out to every player.

Console play and input spoofing
Ubisoft says console cheating remains an issue, particularly when players spoof inputs to use a mouse and keyboard while competing in controller pools. Native console mouse-and-keyboard support is a separate case: Ubisoft said in July 2026 that supported users would be automatically placed in the PC crossplay pool. Mousetrap remains relevant to attempts to evade that routing.
In its February 5, 2025 Y9S4 player-protection update, Ubisoft said three Mousetrap detections would put a spoofer in PC matchmaking with PC recoil enabled for 90 days. That is a stated penalty for detected input spoofing, not a general sanction for all cheating.

What Ubisoft is doing about cheating
Layered protections under R6 ShieldGuard
Ubisoft’s Siege X overview groups Cheat Detection, Mousetrap, QB and Binary Hardening under R6 ShieldGuard, and describes live security updates as part of its anti-cheat approach. The measures address different problems: protecting the game and system, detecting suspicious behavior, and enforcing input and matchmaking rules.
Macro detection and review of past matches
At the August 2026 checkpoint, Ubisoft described a cautious recoil-macro detector intended to issue account bans only after several confirmed instances. The company said it planned to launch the detector on PC later that month, while console work remained in development at the time of the update. It also said it was developing analysis of past matches to catch cheaters retrospectively and examining AI-assisted cheating on console. These are developer statements about plans and work in progress, not evidence that each measure had already produced a particular result.

Why a clip may not lead to a ban
Ubisoft says manual bans involve physical review of evidence and backend-data review; a clip circulating online alone is not the basis for a ban. A suspicious moment can be worth reporting, but a clip does not by itself prove cheating or guarantee enforcement. Use the in-game reporting tools rather than confronting or harassing a player.

The two 30% report figures come from different Ubisoft updates and contexts; neither should be read as proof that cheater prevalence fell by that amount. Likewise, the ban total shows enforcement activity, but without a denominator or unique-person count it cannot reveal the size of the current cheater population.

How to respond if a match seems suspicious
- Report the player through Siege’s in-game reporting tools, with the relevant match context.
- Do not treat a single clip or unusual play as conclusive proof; Ubisoft says manual enforcement also reviews backend data.
- For console mouse-and-keyboard users, distinguish supported native input—which Ubisoft says routes to PC crossplay—from spoofing intended to stay in controller pools.
- If you play at the highest ranks, read Ubisoft’s current platform and rank-specific requirements before assuming an announced protection applies to your account.
Verdict: is cheating ruining Siege?
Ubisoft’s latest reported trend does not support saying cheating is ruining every part of Rainbow Six Siege. It does support a more qualified concern: Ubisoft says high-ranking pools remain an exception to the recent decline in reports, and it continues to address console spoofing, recoil macros and emerging AI-assisted cheating. Because the available figures are publisher-reported reports and enforcement totals—not an independent estimate of affected matches—the severity for any individual player cannot be calculated from them.
