If Rainbow Six Siege crashes on a PC or will not start, first verify its game files in the launcher where you own it. Then check Ubisoft’s current system requirements and service status, and only move on to anti-cheat repair if the error points to that component. These steps are PC-focused; console crashes need platform-specific troubleshooting, and no single fix is established for every crash.
Start with the platform and the crash pattern
Before changing anything, note whether you play on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox; which launcher you use on PC; and whether Siege fails before reaching the menu or crashes during play. Record the exact error text or code. Ubisoft’s available steps below specifically address PC files, requirements, and anti-cheat; they do not establish a universal fix for console crashes.
- PC: Identify whether the installation is managed by Ubisoft Connect, Steam, or Epic Games Launcher.
- Console: Check the live service status and follow the support guidance for your console platform rather than applying PC launcher or anti-cheat instructions.
- Any platform: Check whether other players may be affected before treating the problem as local.
Verify Siege’s files in its owning launcher
Ubisoft recommends file verification for a PC game that crashes or cannot start; verification can restore missing or corrupted files. Use the launcher that manages your installation.
Ubisoft Connect PC
- Open Ubisoft Connect PC and select Library.
- Select Rainbow Six Siege, then choose the gear icon beside Play.
- Choose Verify files and let the check finish.
- Launch the game and see whether the same crash occurs.
Steam or Epic Games Launcher
If you own Siege through Steam or Epic, run that launcher’s game-file verification option. Ubisoft directs players to verify games owned on those platforms in the corresponding launcher; use its current support instructions for the exact menu labels.

Check Ubisoft’s live service status
Open Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege service-status page and check the platform you play on. A service disruption can complicate troubleshooting, so avoid treating a crash as a local installation problem if the status page reports an issue. The status snapshot dated October 5, 2026 reported no issues for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One; that dated result does not establish the current status.
Compare your PC with Ubisoft’s requirements
Ubisoft’s published PC requirements are compatibility checks, not proof that a particular component is causing a crash. Compare your hardware, Windows version, DirectX support, and available storage with the current Rainbow Six Siege system requirements.

The figures are Ubisoft-published specifications, not independent performance or crash tests. If a machine does not meet a listed requirement, that is relevant context for troubleshooting, but the specifications alone do not show that upgrading a particular part will resolve a crash.
Repair anti-cheat only when the symptom points to it
If the error explicitly names Ubisoft Anti-Cheat or BattlEye, use Ubisoft’s current Ubisoft Anti-Cheat troubleshooting instructions. Ubisoft’s support guidance includes repairing or reinstalling Ubisoft Anti-Cheat when its installation is corrupted. Follow the repair flow and test the game before trying another change; do not uninstall anti-cheat as a general crash fix.

For a BattlEye or service-start error, Ubisoft’s BattlEye service FAQ recommends verifying game files, updating the game launcher and drivers, and then following the relevant service instructions. It notes that security software blocking BattlEye files or service, or system-file problems, can be relevant to some service-start failures. Because the FAQ is older, follow its current support guidance rather than treating its legacy Windows-specific examples as universal instructions.

Keep troubleshooting changes small and reversible: make one change, launch Siege, and check whether the failure changes before proceeding. If the official checks do not resolve it, gather details that can distinguish a launch failure from a mid-game crash before contacting Ubisoft Support.

Do not apply Secure Boot or TPM changes as a generic crash remedy: Ubisoft’s surfaced instructions concern separate security requirements for a specific competitive mode, not ordinary crash troubleshooting.
