What Rampart’s baseline passive actually changes
Modded Loader is Rampart’s standing weapon passive. EA’s current character description summarizes it as: “Increased magazine capacity and faster reloads when using LMGs and the Minigun.” That sentence contains two separate benefits that apply to the same weapon scope.

If the weapon you are holding is an LMG, Modded Loader applies to its reload. The same is true for Rampart’s Minigun. Pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, submachine guns, marksman weapons and sniper rifles do not receive this passive reload benefit simply because Rampart is carrying them.

This distinction matters when you swap weapons during a fight. A fast reload on an eligible LMG should not be used as evidence that every gun in Rampart’s inventory reloads faster. The passive follows the weapon category, not the character’s entire loadout.
The passive also increases magazine capacity
Modded Loader is not only a reload-speed effect. It also increases the magazine capacity of the eligible LMGs and the Minigun. A larger magazine lets you stay on target longer before starting a reload; the faster reload then reduces the time spent vulnerable once the reload begins. Those advantages work together, but they are different mechanics.
What the passive does not promise
- It does not provide a published numeric reload multiplier in EA’s current ability description.
- It does not grant infinite ammunition.
- It does not make non-LMG weapons reload faster.
- It does not require Amped Cover to provide its baseline LMG and Minigun effects.
The last point separates Modded Loader from Rampart’s upgrade system. You should not describe the cover-based ammunition effect as part of the basic passive.

Locked and Loaded is a Level 2 Amped season upgrade, not a replacement name for Modded Loader. EA’s notes describe it as granting faster reloads and infinite ammo when you are behind Amped Cover and the shield is intact.
The cover and shield conditions are mandatory
The upgrade is conditional. You must be behind your Amped Cover, and that cover’s shield must still be intact. Standing near a deployed barrier is not the same condition if you are outside its protected position, and a damaged or broken shield does not satisfy the wording of the upgrade.

Because the condition is positional and temporary, Locked and Loaded is strongest when you can hold a prepared angle. It is less useful during a rotation, a close-range chase or any fight in which you leave the cover’s protection. When the shield is no longer intact, return to the normal Modded Loader rules: eligible weapons still have the baseline passive, but the conditional infinite-ammo effect should not be assumed.
It adds ammunition access as well as reload speed
Modded Loader changes capacity and reload speed. Locked and Loaded adds a second layer while its cover condition is active: infinite ammo and faster reloads. Infinite ammo changes how you manage a firing position because you do not need to conserve reserve rounds during that protected window. It does not mean every weapon in the game receives unlimited ammunition everywhere on the map; the notes tie the effect to being behind Amped Cover with the shield intact.
Baseline passive versus Level 2 upgrade

The two effects should therefore be described as complementary rather than interchangeable. Modded Loader is the always-relevant weapon-category rule; Locked and Loaded is a stronger but situational benefit that depends on cover placement and shield integrity.
How to use the reload advantage in a match
1. Build around an eligible primary weapon
Choose an LMG when you want Rampart’s passive to influence both capacity and reload timing. Her Minigun also qualifies. If your other weapon is from a different class, treat it as a normal weapon for reload planning rather than expecting the passive to carry over.
2. Spend the larger magazine before committing to a reload
The capacity increase is valuable before the reload animation starts. Use the extra rounds to finish a knock, suppress a doorway or force an opponent off an angle, but keep enough awareness to begin reloading before the magazine is completely empty if the fight gives you that option. The passive reduces reload time; it does not make a reload risk-free in the open.

3. Place Amped Cover before choosing the upgrade’s fight
If you select Locked and Loaded at Level 2, think of Amped Cover as the point from which the upgrade operates. Establish the barrier before you need to reload, then fight from the protected side so the shield remains intact. Moving away from that position removes the condition described in the upgrade notes.

4. Protect the shield if you want the conditional effect
Enemy fire that breaks the shield changes the situation immediately. Do not plan your ammunition or reload timing as though infinite ammo will continue after the shield is gone. Either repair your position with a new cover setup when possible or fall back to the ordinary Modded Loader benefit.
5. Treat the Minigun as a separate eligible weapon
The official passive description names the Minigun alongside LMGs. That means the Minigun belongs in your reload and capacity planning even though it is not an ordinary carried LMG. The description does not provide a separate Minigun percentage, so there is no official basis for claiming that it receives a different speed value.
Is there an official reload-speed percentage?
No published figure was located in the current character description or the Amped season notes. EA states that reloads are faster, but does not say whether the change is a particular percentage, a fixed number of frames or a specific number of seconds. Any precise value repeated without a separate, reliable measurement should be treated as unverified.
This also means you should be cautious with comparisons such as “Rampart reloads 20 percent faster” or “the reload takes exactly one second less.” Those numbers are not established by the official material described here. The dependable comparison is qualitative: eligible LMGs and the Minigun receive the baseline faster-reload effect, while Locked and Loaded adds another faster-reload state under its cover requirement.

A careful way to observe the difference yourself
If you want a practical feel for the mechanic, use the same eligible weapon and repeat the same reload situation in a controlled training or match setting. Keep the weapon, magazine state, attachments and distance from cover consistent. Observe one reload without relying on the upgrade, then observe the cover condition with Locked and Loaded active. Repeat several times rather than judging a single animation, and record your own timing as an observation—not as an official universal statistic.
Do not mix an LMG test with a non-LMG test, or compare a reload made behind intact Amped Cover with one made after the shield breaks. Those are different conditions and cannot isolate the passive cleanly.
What changed from the original Season 6 wording?
EA’s Season 6 launch notes described the original Modded Loader as affecting LMGs and the Minigun. That historical wording also mentioned additional L-STAR behavior: more shots before overheating and improved cooling. The current character page does not include those heat-management details; it currently describes increased magazine capacity and faster reloads for LMGs and the Minigun.
For a current explanation, use the present character-page wording rather than carrying every Season 6 detail forward. The historical L-STAR note is useful context for how the ability was once described, but it is not a current promise that should be presented without a newer official statement.
Current patch status
EA’s official news list showed the September 14, 2026 Marked Midseason notes as the latest listed game update when checked. Those notes included balance changes for other Legends and did not announce a Rampart reload adjustment.

That absence does not create a numeric value where none is published, and it does not rule out future balance changes. It does mean the current official descriptions still support the same two-part explanation: Modded Loader affects LMGs and the Minigun, while Locked and Loaded supplies a conditional cover-based reload and ammunition benefit.
Troubleshooting: why a reload may not look faster
You are holding the wrong weapon class
First check whether the weapon is an LMG or the Minigun. A faster reload on one eligible weapon does not extend to an unrelated secondary weapon.
You are testing the upgrade outside its condition
Locked and Loaded requires you to be behind Amped Cover with the shield intact. If you are beside the cover, in front of it, or using it after the shield has been broken, the upgrade’s conditional effect is not the state described by EA’s notes.

You are expecting infinite ammo from the passive
Infinite ammo belongs to Locked and Loaded under its cover condition. Modded Loader itself is described as magazine-capacity and reload-speed enhancement, not ammunition generation.
You are looking for a visible percentage
The official descriptions do not expose a percentage or seconds-saved figure. The absence of a number on your screen is therefore not evidence that the passive is missing; it reflects the way the ability is documented.
You are relying on old L-STAR information
Season 6 notes included heat-related L-STAR language that is not repeated on the current character page. Separate that historical detail from the current reload and magazine description when diagnosing what Rampart should do now.
Bottom line for weapon choice
Rampart is the clearest choice when you intend to use LMGs or her Minigun: those weapons receive both increased magazine capacity and faster reloads through Modded Loader. If you take Locked and Loaded at Level 2, Amped Cover can create a more powerful firing position by adding faster reloads and infinite ammo while its shield remains intact. Neither source supplies a numeric speed value, and neither effect should be generalized to every gun Rampart carries.
