The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is the best first purchase for most groups. It combines joke writing, cooperative chaos, drawing, improvised presentations and clue-based guessing, so a mixed party is unlikely to run out of games that fit its mood.

Pack 3 is the strongest alternative if you want the classic Jackbox formula, while Pack 6 is the better specialist choice for trivia and social deduction. The ranking below covers all 11 numbered packs currently represented in Jackbox Games’ catalog, with each recommendation matched to the kind of group most likely to enjoy it.

Why each pack ranks where it does

1. The Jackbox Party Pack 7 — best overall

Pack 7 has the broadest dependable spread. It can move from quick one-line jokes to cooperation, visual competition, improvised speaking and word clues without asking every player to enjoy the same kind of humor. That balance makes it the safest single purchase for a mixed group. The official catalog lists support for up to eight players and a 10,000-person audience.

2. The Jackbox Party Pack 3 — best classic value

This is the strongest all-purpose alternative to Pack 7. Its familiar joke-writing and trivia structure is supplemented by hidden information and shirt design, giving a group several different energy levels in one purchase. It is particularly good when some players want competition and others mainly want to make funny answers.

#1 Best Overall
The Jackbox Party Pack 3
  • For 1-8 players, plus a participating Audience of up to 10,000!
  • Your phones or tablets are your controllers!
  • 5 fun party games included:
  • Quiplash 2 (3-8 players)
  • Trivia Murder Party (1-8 players)

3. The Jackbox Party Pack 6 — best for trivia and social deduction

Pack 6 is built around argument, bluffing and performance. Its social-deduction centerpiece gives the group a reason to interrogate one another, while the quiz game supplies a repeatable competitive backbone. The remaining formats lean toward writing and character work, so this pack suits talkative groups that enjoy defending questionable choices.

4. The Jackbox Party Pack 8 — best modern chaos

Pack 8 mixes animation, survey-style decisions, collaborative wordplay, team deduction and a large game-show structure. It feels less like five variations on one party-game idea and more like a deliberately varied set. Jackbox lists its release date as October 13, 2021.

5. The Jackbox Party Pack 4 — best for loud, performative groups

Pack 4 rewards players who enjoy public embarrassment, fast callbacks and jokes aimed directly at friends. Its bluffing game is the reliable entry point; the other formats become stronger as the room gets louder and more willing to commit to a bit. The relationship-focused game can be flirtatious, so it is not the safest choice for every workplace or family gathering.

6. The Jackbox Party Pack 9 — best for teams and structured play

Pack 9 is the most naturally organized set in the middle of this ranking. Its cooperative sorting game gives teams a clear objective, while the bluffing, role-play and perception games provide different ways to contribute. Choose it when your group wants more structure than free-form joke writing. The catalog gives October 19, 2022 as its release date.

7. The Jackbox Party Pack 11 — best fresh-start pack

Pack 11 is the newest numbered pack in the current catalog and intentionally presents five new games rather than leaning on sequels. The set covers jokes, recorded voices, decoration, social deduction and cooperative fantasy trivia. That makes it appealing to buyers who already own older packs and want unfamiliar mechanics. Jackbox lists an October 22, 2025 release date.

8. The Jackbox Party Pack 2 — best overlooked middle entry

Pack 2 remains a good bundle purchase because it combines two strong bluffing and joke-writing choices with an auction-style improvisation game and a cooperative puzzle counterpoint. Its quality is less even from game to game than Packs 3, 6 or 7, which is why it is harder to recommend as a first standalone pack.

Rank #3
The Jackbox Party Pack
  • For 1-100 players!
  • Your phones or tablets are your controllers!
  • 5 Fun Party Games Included:
  • YOU DON’T NOW JACK 2015 (1-4 players)
  • Fibbage XL (2-8 players)

9. The Jackbox Party Pack 5 — best for variety seekers who accept one divisive game

Pack 5 has excellent writing and performance options, especially for groups that enjoy musical or persuasive bits. Its arcade-like action game is more mechanically focused than the rest, and that difference can split a room that primarily wants conversation. Buy it when variety matters more than a uniformly safe lineup.

10. The Jackbox Party Pack 10 — best for fans of specific newer formats

Pack 10 includes a sequel to a popular shirt-design concept alongside text collaboration, time-travel trivia, deduction and a music-based game. That breadth is useful only if those particular formats appeal to your group; the pack has less universal cohesion than the higher-ranked sets. Its listed release date is October 18, 2023.

11. The Jackbox Party Pack 1 — historically important, least complete purchase today

Pack 1 established the modern phone-as-controller approach and still contains durable bluffing and drawing games. However, its lineup has fewer polished, high-replay options than later packs. It makes the most sense for nostalgia, collection completion or a discounted bundle rather than as your only Jackbox purchase.

Choose by the kind of group you have

One purchase for a mixed group

Buy Pack 7. Its five formats spread attention across writing, cooperation, drawing, presentations and guessing, so the group is less likely to reject the entire pack because one style does not suit them.

Classic Jackbox feel

Choose Pack 3. It delivers the recognizable combination of jokes, trivia, hidden information and visual customization with unusually strong replay value.

Trivia and deduction

Start with Pack 6. Choose Pack 11 instead if you have older packs already and want newer designs, particularly cooperative fantasy trivia and a new deduction format.

Drawing and visual comedy

Pack 8 is the more modern choice because animation and visual team play are central to its identity. Pack 4 is better when the room prefers drawing as a vehicle for loud, personal jokes.

Teams and cooperation

Pack 8 offers the most varied team-oriented set. Pack 9 is the better fit when you want clearer structure and a dedicated cooperative sorting challenge.

Writing and bluffing

Pack 3 is the safest choice, with Packs 4 and 7 close behind. Pick Pack 4 for performative teasing; pick Pack 7 when you want writing balanced by several non-writing formats.

How Jackbox works in practice

  1. Install the pack on a supported host device such as a PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV/iPad or Amazon Fire TV.
  2. Launch a game on the host screen and have players open an internet-connected phone, tablet or laptop.
  3. Each player visits Jackbox.tv and enters the room code shown by the host.
  4. Join the audience rather than a player slot if the game is full; audience members can still influence outcomes in supported titles.

Jackbox says current-generation titles use mobile devices as controllers, so separate gamepads are not required. Player limits differ by game, ranging from one to nine, and supported games can allow audiences of up to 10,000 people. Check the individual game’s displayed limit before starting a large session.

Buying more than one pack

Jackbox’s official shop lists collections including the Quintpack and Decade Bundle. Compare the games in a bundle with the individual packs you already own: a bundle is useful when it adds several desired lineups, but redundant packs can make the apparent discount less meaningful. A Nintendo Switch is an optional host platform, not a requirement; a supported PC, console or TV device works instead.
