Ranni the Witch in Elden Ring: Complete Lore, Questline, Age of Stars Ending, and Dark Moon Greatsword Guide

A complete, spoiler-filled guide to Ranni the Witch: her Carian family, Snow Witch mentor, role in the Night of Black Knives, every quest step, optional NPC branch, Dark Moon Greatsword reward, and Age of Stars ending.

Ranni the Witch, formally Lunar Princess Ranni, is a Carian demigod and former Empyrean who rejected the Two Fingers, destroyed her original body, and placed her spirit in a doll modeled after her Snow Witch mentor. Her quest begins properly at Ranni’s Rise in Liurnia, after Caria Manor and Royal Knight Loretta. Completing it unlocks the Age of Stars ending and awards the Dark Moon Greatsword.

  • Early alias: Renna, at the Church of Elleh
  • Quest location: Ranni’s Rise, in the Three Sisters
  • Required ending route: Radahn, Nokron, the Fingerslayer Blade, the Baleful Shadow, Astel, and the Dark Moon Ring
  • Important warnings: the Church of Elleh encounter is optional, and giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade ends Seluvis’s active quest

Ranni’s storyline is simultaneously a character arc, a history of the Night of Black Knives, a route through Nokron and the Lake of Rot, and one of Elden Ring’s alternate ending paths. The shortest route is straightforward once its triggers are understood, but several popular guides blur optional NPC conversations with mandatory objectives. This guide marks the difference.

Who is Ranni the Witch?

Ranni is the Lunar Princess Ranni, a daughter of Rennala and Radagon, and a member of the Carian royal family. Her brothers are Starscourge Radahn and Praetor Rykard. Because Radagon later became Marika’s consort—and is revealed to be Marika—the children of Radagon and Marika are Ranni’s half-siblings. That family includes Godwyn, Miquella, and Malenia.

Ranni is therefore both a Carian princess and a demigod. The Two Fingers chose her as an Empyrean, one of the candidates who might succeed Queen Marika and become the central divine power of the Lands Between. Ranni considered that destiny a form of enslavement: in her view, an Empyrean selected by the Fingers would become a vessel for their desired order rather than an independent ruler.

Her closest attendants reflect both sides of her background. Blaidd is her shadowbound vassal, a wolf-like warrior assigned to her by the Fingers. War Counselor Iji is an old Carian retainer and one of Ranni’s most loyal advisers. Preceptor Seluvis is also involved in her court, although his private plans and methods make him an ally of convenience rather than a trustworthy friend.

Ranni, Renna, and the doll

The blue witch encountered at the Church of Elleh calls herself Renna. This is an optional early encounter and not a separate character who begins another quest. At Ranni’s Rise, she identifies herself as Ranni.

Ranni is not physically the doll. During the Night of Black Knives, she destroyed her original Empyrean flesh while preserving her spirit. Her surviving spirit inhabits a small doll whose appearance was modeled after the Snow Witch who mentored her. The doll is Ranni’s vessel, not her original body.

Is Ranni the Snow Witch?

No—not literally. The Snow Witch was an older snowy crone who taught young Ranni cold sorceries and instructed her to fear the dark moon. Ranni’s doll resembles that mentor, which is why the Snow Witch’s hat and armor are associated with Ranni. The in-game descriptions distinguish the mentor from her student: the Snow Witch is a separate person.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The precise formulation is: Ranni is a witch whose doll body resembles her former Snow Witch mentor. Calling Ranni the Snow Witch is understandable shorthand, but it is not accurate as an identity claim. See the descriptions of the Snow Witch Hat and Snowy Crone for the distinction.

Ranni’s lore and the Night of Black Knives

1. A Carian princess becomes an Empyrean

Ranni grew up in the Carian royal family, surrounded by sorcery, the academy’s influence, and the political consequences of Rennala’s relationship with Radagon. In the woods she encountered the Snow Witch, whose cold sorceries and dark-moon teachings shaped Ranni’s later identity.

The Two Fingers then selected Ranni as an Empyrean. Blaidd was appointed as her shadow, while Iji became a trusted Carian attendant. The selection gave Ranni a possible route to godhood, but it also placed her under the control of the Fingers and the Greater Will’s established system.

2. What happened on the Night of Black Knives?

The Night of Black Knives is the event that explains Ranni’s dead original body, Godwyn’s condition, the Black Knife Assassins, and the Cursemark of Death.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Ranni stole a fragment of the Rune of Death, also called Destined Death.
  2. That fragment was used to forge or empower the black knives carried by the Numen assassins.
  3. At the same time as the assassins attacked Godwyn, Ranni used the power on her own Empyrean flesh.
  4. Godwyn died in spirit while his body remained, becoming the source of the spreading corruption associated with the Prince of Death.
  5. Ranni’s body died while her spirit survived in the doll.

This is why the event should not be reduced to Ranni killed Godwyn. Ranni orchestrated the plot and arranged the use of the stolen Rune of Death, but the assassins killed Godwyn’s soul while Ranni killed her own body. The two deaths occurred in different aspects at the same time.

The Cursemark of Death records this split. Its wheel-like mark is divided between the two demigods: one half is associated with Ranni’s corpse and the other with Godwyn. The asymmetric deaths are also why Godwyn’s body can continue to exist without his soul while Ranni’s spirit can continue without her original flesh. The Night of Black Knives and Rune of Death entries provide the item and event context, while Ranni later admits her role in dialogue.

3. Why did Ranni destroy her own body?

Ranni’s stated reason was to escape the Two Fingers’ control. As long as her Empyrean body remained available, she could be used as the vessel for the order the Fingers wanted to establish. Killing that body severed her from the expected succession while allowing her spirit to continue pursuing an alternative.

That explains the immediate action, but not every part of her philosophy. The broader interpretation is that Ranni wants to replace a divine order that acts directly upon the Lands Between with one kept at a great distance. She describes her coming age as a thousand-year journey under the wisdom of the Moon, with the new order removed from the ordinary reach of the world.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Whether that is liberation, abandonment, or a less visible form of domination is deliberately unsettled. Ranni clearly rejects the Fingers, but the game does not give a simple moral verdict on the order she proposes.

4. Where is Ranni’s original body?

Ranni’s original corpse lies at the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia. The Carian Inverted Statue, received during her quest, turns the Carian Study Hall upside down and opens the route to the tower. There the player can inspect the remains of the body she abandoned and find the associated half of the Cursemark of Death.

The game strongly establishes that Ranni destroyed her Empyrean flesh. It is less explicit about every metaphysical consequence of that act. Her dialogue says she was once an Empyrean, while the Dark Moon Ring still uses Empyrean language in describing the relationship between Ranni and her consort. It is safer to describe her as a former or self-discarded Empyrean than to claim that the game completely settles her post-transformation status.

Where to find Ranni

Optional first meeting: Church of Elleh

After meeting Melina and obtaining Torrent, use Torrent at least once. Then return to the Church of Elleh at night. A blue witch will be sitting on the ruined church wall. Speak to her and exhaust the dialogue. She introduces herself as Renna and gives you:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Spirit Calling Bell
  • Lone Wolf Ashes

This is the nighttime requirement that causes much of the confusion around Ranni. Night matters for the Church of Elleh meeting; it is not a general requirement for meeting Ranni at Ranni’s Rise. Missing Renna does not lock the main quest. The Twin Maiden Husks can sell the missed items after the relevant progression, as described in the Twin Maiden Husks information.

Main meeting: Ranni’s Rise

Ranni’s actual quest begins at Ranni’s Rise, the central tower in the Three Sisters region of northern Liurnia. To reach it:

  1. Enter Caria Manor.
  2. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta.
  3. Leave the manor and enter the Three Sisters.
  4. Climb Ranni’s Rise and speak with Ranni at the top.

Choose to serve her. Then speak to the spectral forms of Blaidd, Iji, and Seluvis below. Return to Ranni and exhaust her dialogue again. This establishes the quest and sends you toward the means of entering Nokron, the Eternal City.

Complete Ranni quest walkthrough

The following route is the reliable main path to the Age of Stars ending. Optional NPC conversations are identified separately so you can decide whether to pursue the lore before advancing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 0: Collect the optional Spirit Calling Bell

Meet Melina, acquire Torrent, ride Torrent once, and visit the Church of Elleh at night. Talk to Renna until she gives you the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes. If she never appears, continue the game: the main Ranni quest remains available.

Step 1: Serve Ranni at Ranni’s Rise

  1. Clear Caria Manor.
  2. Defeat Royal Knight Loretta.
  3. Go to Ranni’s Rise in the Three Sisters.
  4. Speak to Ranni and agree to serve her.
  5. Talk to Blaidd, Iji, and Seluvis in their spectral forms.
  6. Return to Ranni and exhaust the remaining dialogue.

This is the first required Ranni-specific state. The earlier Renna encounter is not a prerequisite.

Step 2: Open the route to Nokron by defeating Radahn

The normal dialogue route is:

  1. Find Blaidd in Siofra River.
  2. Speak with Seluvis at Seluvis’s Rise.
  3. Take Seluvis’s information to Sorceress Sellen at Waypoint Ruins.
  4. Learn that Starscourge Radahn is holding back the stars.
  5. Travel to Redmane Castle and participate in the Radahn Festival.
  6. Defeat Starscourge Radahn.

Blaidd, Seluvis, and Sellen provide context and related content, but their conversations are not all mandatory. The important progression state is that Radahn is defeated. Reaching Radahn through another route can advance the central quest without completing every optional conversation.

Defeating Radahn releases the stars and creates a crater south of the Mistwood area. That crater is the entrance to Nokron, Eternal City. The festival itself can be activated by Ranni-related progression, by certain Jerren and Iji states, or by reaching Altus Plateau; Bandai Namco’s official guide also documents the major progression relationship between Radahn and access to the underground route.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 3: Retrieve the Fingerslayer Blade in Nokron

  1. Enter Nokron through the new crater.
  2. Travel through the city toward Night’s Sacred Ground.
  3. Reach the large structure at the end of the route.
  4. Open the chest and take the Fingerslayer Blade.

The item description calls the blade Nokron’s hidden treasure and says that it can harm the Greater Will and its vassals. The chest cannot be opened before you have entered Ranni’s service.

Important timing warning: Seluvis’s quest

Do not give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade until you have finished the Seluvis content you want. Handing over the blade advances Ranni’s quest and ends Seluvis’s active storyline. This is an irreversible reward-order trade-off, not a requirement to complete Ranni’s quest.

If you want Seluvis’s dialogue, puppet options, or rewards, complete those portions first. If you only want the Age of Stars ending, you can ignore Seluvis’s quest entirely.

Step 4: Give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade

  1. Return to Ranni’s Rise.
  2. Speak to Ranni and give her the Fingerslayer Blade.
  3. Speak with her again.
  4. Receive the Carian Inverted Statue.

The statue is used at the Carian Study Hall. It enables access to the Divine Tower of Liurnia, Ranni’s original body, and the Cursemark of Death. You can also enter Renna’s Rise after this progression and collect the Snow Witch Set. The Snow Witch equipment is separate loot; it is not the direct reward for the Dark Moon Greatsword.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 5: Use Renna’s Rise and wake the Miniature Ranni

  1. Climb to the top of Renna’s Rise, the northern tower in the Three Sisters.
  2. Use the sending gate there.
  3. Arrive in Ainsel River Main.
  4. Pick up the Miniature Ranni beside the coffin near the arrival point.
  5. Rest at the nearby Site of Grace.
  6. Select Talk to Miniature Ranni three times.

The three conversations are essential. Picking up the doll alone is not enough. On the third successful conversation, Ranni speaks through the miniature and directs you toward the Baleful Shadow.

Step 6: Defeat the Baleful Shadow

Continue through Ainsel River Main and Nokstella. Follow the underground route toward the Nokstella Waterfall Basin. The Baleful Shadow appears as a hostile figure resembling Blaidd’s form.

Defeat it to receive the Discarded Palace Key. Ranni’s miniature explains that she has rejected the Two Fingers and that their shadows are pursuing her. The encounter is both a combat checkpoint and one of the clearest demonstrations that the Fingers’ system is trying to eliminate its rebellious Empyrean.

Step 7: Use the Discarded Palace Key in Raya Lucaria

  1. Fast travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library.
  2. Find the locked chest near Rennala.
  3. Use the Discarded Palace Key.
  4. Take the Dark Moon Ring.

The Dark Moon Ring is not a teleport item and does not transport you to the Lake of Rot. It is a quest key. You need it later to pass the seal beyond Astel and to complete the consort scene with Ranni.

Step 8: Cross the Lake of Rot

From Nokstella, continue to the Lake of Rot. The Scarlet Rot makes this section much safer if you bring Preserving Boluses, plenty of healing flasks, and equipment or buffs that improve survival. You do not need to defeat every enemy.

At the Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace, move between the raised islands and activate the visible pressure plates or switches. These mechanisms raise additional platforms, letting you travel generally south and southwest toward the Grand Cloister. Use the platforms as rest points, heal before the status meter fills, and spend flasks freely rather than trying to clear the lake.

At the Grand Cloister, follow the route to the coffin at the end of the area and enter it. The coffin carries you to the next required boss.

Step 9: Defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void

  1. Ride the coffin from the Grand Cloister.
  2. Enter the arena of Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.
  3. Defeat Astel.
  4. Rest at the Site of Grace if necessary.
  5. Approach the sealed route beyond the arena.

Astel is a required progression boss for Ranni’s route. The barrier beyond the arena remains closed unless you have the Dark Moon Ring. Defeating Astel by itself is not enough to reach the Moonlight Altar.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 10: Use the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni

  1. Use the route beyond Astel to reach Moonlight Altar.
  2. Travel to the Cathedral of Manus Celes.
  3. Enter the large hole inside the cathedral.
  4. Follow the tunnel to Ranni and the corpse of her Two Fingers.
  5. Use the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni.
  6. After the scene, collect the Dark Moon Greatsword.

Putting the ring on Ranni completes the consort scene and gives you the weapon. You can obtain the Dark Moon Greatsword without selecting the Age of Stars ending later.

Step 11: Select the Age of Stars ending

  1. Finish Ranni’s quest through the Dark Moon Ring scene.
  2. Defeat the final boss, including the Elden Beast.
  3. In the final arena, look for Ranni’s blue summon sign near the Fractured Marika statue.
  4. Interact with the blue sign to summon Ranni and begin the Age of Stars.

Ranni’s ending is not automatic. Completing the quest unlocks the choice; it does not select it for you. If you interact with the Fractured Marika statue first and choose another ending, the opportunity to choose Ranni’s ending is gone on that playthrough.

How to get the most Ranni lore

If you are playing for the story rather than taking the shortest route, delay giving Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade until you have completed the related conversations you care about.

Rogier and the Black Knifeprint

Rogier’s investigation is one of the best complements to Ranni’s later confession. It approaches the Night of Black Knives as a mystery, linking the Black Knifeprint, Godwyn, and Ranni rather than asking the player to accept Ranni’s account without investigation. Follow Sorcerer Rogier’s storyline and examine the Black Knifeprint before advancing if you want that perspective.

Blaidd, Sellen, and Seluvis

Blaidd’s Siofra dialogue gives the search for Nokron a personal dimension. Sellen explains why Radahn’s defeat matters cosmically. Seluvis reveals his own ambitions and provides rewards, but his storyline is ethically and mechanically separate from Ranni’s. None of these branches is a universal requirement for the Age of Stars route.

Fia, the Cursemark, and the Divine Tower

Ranni’s route and Fia’s route are compatible. Use the Carian Inverted Statue in the Carian Study Hall to reach Ranni’s corpse and recover the Cursemark of Death. Fia needs that item for her own quest. Her Age of the Duskborn ending and Ranni’s Age of Stars ending are separate final choices, so completing one does not force the other.

The Age of Stars ending explained

In the Age of Stars, the Tarnished becomes Ranni’s consort. Ranni takes the position of the central divine figure around which a new order is built, replacing the role occupied by Marika in the existing system. The ending then presents Ranni and her consort departing on a thousand-year journey under the wisdom of the Moon.

Ranni’s closing speech describes a chill night and a path extending into fear, doubt, loneliness, and darkness. The language is intentionally poetic. Translation analyses comparing the English and Japanese versions disagree about whether those experiences primarily describe the world, Ranni and her consort, or the difficult distance of their voyage. It is not responsible to state as settled fact that the English text is simply mistranslated. The safe conclusion is that the ending clearly promises distance from the existing order while leaving the emotional and political result open to interpretation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the ending confirms is narrower but substantial:

  • Ranni rejects the Two Fingers’ authority over her.
  • The Tarnished becomes her consort.
  • A new age associated with the stars and Moon begins.
  • Ranni’s order is placed at a great remove from ordinary life in the Lands Between.

What it does not prove in a simple, explicit way is that Ranni has created a perfectly free world or physically removed the Greater Will from every part of existence. Those are interpretations of her plan and the ending’s imagery. Ranni can be read as a liberator, a revolutionary, a manipulator, or an authoritarian who prefers control at cosmic distance. The game deliberately gives evidence for more than one reading.

For further discussion of the ending’s wording and translation debate, see the Ranni’s Order entry and the comparative analysis at Game8.

Troubleshooting Ranni’s quest

Ranni never appeared at the Church of Elleh

That is not a quest failure. The Church meeting is optional and requires nighttime, Torrent, and at least one use of Torrent. Continue to Caria Manor and Ranni’s Rise. If you want the missed Spirit Calling Bell or Lone Wolf Ashes, check the Twin Maiden Husks later.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ranni is not at Ranni’s Rise

Check these possibilities in order:

  1. Confirm that Caria Manor is cleared and Royal Knight Loretta is defeated.
  2. Make sure you are at Ranni’s Rise, not Renna’s Rise or Seluvis’s Rise.
  3. If the Radahn Festival is active, defeat Radahn and return to the Three Sisters.
  4. Check whether Ranni, Blaidd, or Iji became hostile after an accidental attack.
  5. If Ranni mentions a missing curse mark, advance Rogier’s Black Knife investigation and speak with Ranni again.

These are practical fixes based on observed quest progression and established walkthrough behavior, not a publicly documented FromSoftware quest-state specification. If an NPC was killed rather than made hostile, Celestial Dew cannot resurrect that NPC.

I accidentally attacked Ranni, Blaidd, or Iji

If the NPC is alive but hostile, visit the Church of Vows and use Celestial Dew to request absolution. This can repair hostility where the game permits it. It does not revive dead characters, restore permanently missed rewards, or undo every quest-state change.

The Miniature Ranni does nothing

Pick up the doll, rest at the first Site of Grace in Ainsel River Main, and choose Talk to Miniature Ranni three times. The dialogue option can look like a minor flavor interaction, but the repeated conversations are the trigger for the Baleful Shadow stage.

The Baleful Shadow has not appeared

Return to the Miniature Ranni Site of Grace and repeat the conversation until she responds. Then continue through Ainsel River Main and Nokstella toward the Nokstella Waterfall Basin. If the enemy still does not appear, make sure Ranni actually received the Fingerslayer Blade and that you used the Renna’s Rise sending gate afterward.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Raya Lucaria chest is locked

The chest near Rennala requires the Discarded Palace Key. That key comes from defeating the Baleful Shadow. The Carian Inverted Statue does not open the chest, and defeating Rennala does not provide the key.

I defeated Astel but cannot reach Moonlight Altar

Take the Dark Moon Ring from the locked chest in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library. The ring must be in your possession to pass the seal beyond Astel. Astel’s defeat alone does not open the route.

I completed the quest but cannot see the Age of Stars choice

After defeating the final boss, look for Ranni’s blue summon sign near the Fractured Marika statue. Interact with the sign rather than the statue. The quest unlocks the ending; it does not trigger it automatically.

The Frenzied Flame is active

Inheriting the Frenzied Flame prevents the normal ending choices, including Ranni’s, unless you remove that condition with Miquella’s Needle. The relevant procedure requires using the needle in the arena of Dragonlord Placidusax. Completing Ranni’s quest alone cannot override an active Frenzied Flame condition.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Seluvis died before I finished his quest

Seluvis’s death generally does not prevent Ranni’s main quest from continuing, but his remaining dialogue, puppet options, and rewards may be unavailable. There is no ordinary way to resurrect a dead NPC. If Seluvis’s content matters to you, complete it before handing over the Fingerslayer Blade.

Blaidd is hostile outside Ranni’s Rise

This is an aftermath event, not a missing quest step. After Ranni’s storyline is complete, Blaidd can appear hostile outside Ranni’s Rise. Defeating him provides his associated equipment and concludes that encounter. It is not required to unlock or select the Age of Stars ending.

Ranni’s quest in one short checklist

  1. Optional: meet Renna at the Church of Elleh at night for the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes.
  2. Clear Caria Manor and defeat Royal Knight Loretta.
  3. Serve Ranni at Ranni’s Rise.
  4. Defeat Radahn and enter Nokron through the crater.
  5. Take the Fingerslayer Blade from Night’s Sacred Ground.
  6. Give it to Ranni and receive the Carian Inverted Statue.
  7. Use the portal at the top of Renna’s Rise.
  8. Pick up the Miniature Ranni and talk to her three times at the Site of Grace.
  9. Defeat the Baleful Shadow.
  10. Use the Discarded Palace Key on the chest near Rennala.
  11. Take the Dark Moon Ring.
  12. Cross the Lake of Rot, ride the Grand Cloister coffin, and defeat Astel.
  13. Reach the Cathedral of Manus Celes and use the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni.
  14. Collect the Dark Moon Greatsword.
  15. After the final boss, use Ranni’s blue summon sign to select the Age of Stars.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ranni the Snow Witch?

No. The Snow Witch is an older snowy crone who mentored Ranni in cold sorceries and taught her to fear the dark moon. Ranni’s doll was modeled after that mentor, which is why the Snow Witch equipment is associated with her.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Did Ranni kill Godwyn?

Ranni orchestrated the Night of Black Knives and arranged for a stolen fragment of the Rune of Death to empower the assassins’ weapons. The assassins killed Godwyn’s soul, while Ranni used the same power to kill her own body. Saying simply that Ranni killed Godwyn loses this crucial distinction.

Can I complete Ranni’s quest after starting the Radahn Festival?

Yes. If the festival is active, defeat Radahn and return to Ranni’s Rise. Blaidd, Seluvis, and Sellen provide optional context, but not every conversation is required if the necessary progression states are reached another way.

Can I complete Ranni’s quest after burning the Erdtree?

In general, yes. Ranni’s quest can be completed late in the base game, provided its NPCs and progression states are still available. The major exception is an active Frenzied Flame condition, which blocks Ranni’s ending until removed with Miquella’s Needle.

Can I get the Dark Moon Greatsword without choosing Ranni’s ending?

Yes. Complete the quest through the Cathedral of Manus Celes, use the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni, and collect the sword. You can later choose a different ending after defeating the final boss, unless another condition such as the Frenzied Flame prevents it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does Ranni’s quest lock me out of Fia’s ending?

No. The quests are compatible. Ranni’s Carian Inverted Statue opens the route to the Cursemark of Death, which is important to Fia’s quest. The Age of Stars and Age of the Duskborn are separate final choices.

Does Ranni’s quest lock me out of the normal ending?

No. Completing Ranni’s quest unlocks her blue summon sign; it does not force you to use it. You can choose another available ending by interacting with the Fractured Marika statue instead.

What happens to Blaidd after Ranni’s quest?

Blaidd can be found hostile outside Ranni’s Rise after the quest concludes. This is an optional aftermath encounter. Defeating him gives his associated equipment and does not determine whether the Age of Stars ending is available.

What happens to Seluvis if I give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade?

Giving Ranni the blade ends Seluvis’s active quest state. Complete the Seluvis rewards, puppet options, and dialogue you want before handing over the blade. Seluvis’s quest is not required for Ranni’s route.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What does the Age of Stars actually change?

It replaces the ordinary post-boss resolution with Ranni’s new cosmic order. The Tarnished becomes her consort, and Ranni begins a thousand-year journey under the wisdom of the Moon. The ending emphasizes distance from the existing divine order, but its precise moral and political consequences remain open to interpretation.

The Bottom Line

Ranni is a Carian princess who sacrificed her Empyrean body to escape the Two Fingers and planned the Night of Black Knives as the first move toward a different order. To complete her quest, serve her at Ranni’s Rise, defeat Radahn, recover the Fingerslayer Blade in Nokron, awaken the Miniature Ranni, kill the Baleful Shadow, retrieve the Dark Moon Ring, defeat Astel, and use the ring at the Cathedral of Manus Celes. After the final boss, choose her blue summon sign for the Age of Stars. The Church of Elleh meeting is optional; Seluvis’s rewards are the major timing trade-off.
