Razer Basilisk V4 Pro and V4 HyperSpeed vs. Logitech G502 X: Which Gaming Mouse Is Right for You?

By VGSources Team 10 min read

There is no single winner because “Basilisk V4” covers two different mice and “G502 X” covers wired and wireless versions. Choose the wired Logitech G502 X if you want a 89 g mouse with no battery or charging routine. Choose the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro if you want the broadest published control set, three connection modes, advanced wheel options, RGB, and high polling claims. Consider the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed separately if you want a lighter-featured wireless Basilisk design with a stated 94 g weight and up to 140 hours of battery life.

The specifications below are manufacturer-published claims, not results from an independent head-to-head test. Hand fit, click and wheel preference, real-world durability, wireless latency in your setup, and current value can only be judged with your own hands and local prices.

First, identify the exact mouse you mean

Razer announced two products under the Basilisk V4 name on October 8, 2026: the Basilisk V4 Pro and Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. They are not interchangeable tiers. Logitech’s G502 X family likewise includes the wired G502 X and the separate wireless G502 X LIGHTSPEED. A recommendation that does not name the exact model can easily compare the wrong sensor, battery, weight, or controls.

Which mouse is best for your connection needs?

Choose Basilisk V4 Pro for three connection modes

The Basilisk V4 Pro is the most flexible option on paper. It supports HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2, and wired operation. Its Bluetooth mode can pair with up to three devices, which is useful if one mouse moves between a gaming PC, a laptop, and another compatible system without repeatedly re-pairing.

Razer states true 8,000 Hz polling for both wireless and wired modes on the V4 Pro. That is a manufacturer claim; the practical benefit depends on your display refresh rate, game, CPU load, firmware, and whether your system can process the additional reports.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the wired G502 X when simplicity matters

The wired G502 X has no battery, wireless receiver, charging dock, or charging cable to manage. Connect it by USB and it remains ready as long as the computer is powered. That makes it a straightforward choice for a fixed desktop, tournament setup that requires a cable, or anyone who dislikes monitoring battery status.

The trade-off is physical cable management and less freedom to move between devices. The cited Logitech page does not establish a polling-rate figure for the wired G502 X, so do not assume it matches the V4 Pro’s 8,000 Hz claim.

Choose G502 X LIGHTSPEED for Logitech’s wireless G502 X variant

G502 X LIGHTSPEED is a separate wireless product, not a wireless mode of the wired G502 X. Logitech’s US page identifies LIGHTSPEED wireless, 13 customizable controls, LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches, and an updated HERO 44K sensor. The page does not provide a battery figure in the supplied specifications, so battery endurance should be checked on the current regional listing before buying.

Consider V4 HyperSpeed when you want a wireless Basilisk with a different feature tier

Razer presents the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed as a wireless model with 12 customizable controls, a Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3, a stated 94 g weight, and up to 140 hours of battery life. Those figures belong to V4 HyperSpeed; they should not be substituted for the V4 Pro’s 14 controls, Focus Pro 50K sensor, or 200/275-hour claims.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Controls and scroll wheels: the biggest feature difference

Basilisk V4 Pro

The V4 Pro has 14 customizable controls, including a third side button and an M1 edge button. Its HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2 is described with three operating behaviors:

  • 24-step tactile mode: a more pronounced detent pattern for deliberate scrolling.
  • 48-step precision tactile mode: finer tactile increments.
  • Free-spin mode: a low-resistance mode for moving quickly through long pages or lists.

The wheel also tilts, adding horizontal inputs alongside the main wheel action. The exact usefulness depends on whether your game or software lets you bind those inputs and whether your preferred grip can reach the extra buttons without accidental presses.

G502 X wired and G502 X LIGHTSPEED

Logitech describes the G502 X wired model with a dual-mode scroll wheel that switches between free-spin and ratcheted operation. The wheel tilts left and right for two programmable controls, and the DPI-shift button can be adjusted or removed. Those are different design choices from the V4 Pro’s published 24-step and 48-step tactile modes.

The G502 X LIGHTSPEED page lists 13 customizable controls, but the supplied product details do not repeat every individual control or wheel function for that wireless model. Confirm the layout in the exact regional listing if a particular button arrangement is essential.

Sensors and polling: read the numbers without treating them as a verdict

Razer’s published sensor claims

For the Basilisk V4 Pro, Razer specifies a Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3 with up to 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, and 90 G. Razer also claims true 8,000 Hz polling in wireless and wired modes. The V4 HyperSpeed uses a different Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3. The supplied announcement does not attach the V4 HyperSpeed to the V4 Pro’s 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, 90 G, or 8,000 Hz figures.

Razer Mouse Dock V2 Pro with Wireless Charging Puck, Chroma RGB
  • MAGNETIC WIRELESS CHARGING – Recharge effortlessly between gaming sessions with a secure magnetic dock and wireless charging puck that keeps compatible Razer gaming mice powered and ready for continuous play
  • TRUE 8000 HZ WIRELESS PERFORMANCE – Unlock ultra-low-latency Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 connectivity with the integrated 8K Hz transceiver for maximum responsiveness in competitive FPS, MOBA, and esports gaming
  • 8-ZONE CHROMA RGB UNDERGLOW – Customize eight lighting zones with 16.8 million colors and dynamic effects that sync with over 300 Chroma-integrated games for a more immersive gaming experience
  • MULTI-DEVICE CONNECTIVITY – Keep your setup clean by pairing compatible Razer mice and keyboards through a single integrated transceiver, reducing cable clutter while maintaining reliable wireless performance
  • CHARGE STATUS AT A GLANCE – Easily monitor battery levels through color-coded lighting indicators that show low, medium, and full charge status without opening software or interrupting gameplay

Logitech’s published sensor claims

The wired G502 X page identifies a HERO 25K sensor. The US G502 X LIGHTSPEED page identifies an updated HERO 44K sensor. These are different model specifications, just as the two Basilisk sensors are different. Logitech’s pages do not provide a common independent test against Razer’s sensor figures.

High DPI, IPS, acceleration, and polling numbers describe capability ceilings. They do not by themselves establish better aim, lower end-to-end latency, smoother tracking, or a more comfortable feel. Your chosen sensitivity, game engine, USB or wireless environment, firmware, and display are all relevant.

Battery, charging, and the optional dock

Basilisk V4 Pro battery claims

Razer states up to 200 hours for the V4 Pro at 1,000 Hz wireless polling and up to 275 hours when using Bluetooth 6.2. Those are connection-specific maximum claims, not a guaranteed runtime for every lighting, polling, or usage configuration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed battery claim

Razer states up to 140 hours for the V4 HyperSpeed. Do not use the V4 Pro’s 200-hour or 275-hour figures when estimating V4 HyperSpeed runtime.

Mouse Dock V2 Pro

Razer announced the Mouse Dock V2 Pro alongside the V4 Pro. The newsroom description says it provides magnetic wireless charging and an integrated 8,000 Hz transceiver, and lists both the Basilisk V4 Pro and Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed among compatible products. The dock is optional; the compatibility statement does not mean either mouse requires it. It is most relevant if you want a charging stand and a receiver integrated into one accessory.

G502 X wired

The wired G502 X has no battery requirement. This removes charging considerations entirely, although the cable remains part of your desk setup.

G502 X LIGHTSPEED

The supplied US product-page details establish LIGHTSPEED wireless but do not establish a battery-life number. Check the current listing, included cable, and charging method for your region before treating the wireless model as equivalent to either Basilisk battery claim.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Weight and handling

Only two directly comparable weights are established in the supplied product pages: Razer states that the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed weighs 94 g, while Logitech states that the wired G502 X weighs 89 g. The cited information does not provide matching weights for the Basilisk V4 Pro or G502 X LIGHTSPEED, so it would be misleading to rank all four by weight.

A five-gram difference can matter to a player who makes frequent low-sensitivity swipes, but shape, palm support, button reach, cable drag, and grip style often matter more than a headline number. If your hand fit is decisive, use a return policy or a retailer with an in-person display rather than inferring comfort from the Basilisk or G502 shape name.

Prices and availability are regional and volatile

The Logitech storefront snapshots provide reference points, not permanent prices:

Basilisk V4 Pro and V4 HyperSpeed Not established in the cited launch announcement Check the current Razer regional store and retailers for the exact model

The US and EU wired prices are not a like-for-like international conversion, and neither is a direct comparison with an unverified V4 price. Check your market on the day you buy, confirm the connection variant, and verify stock and included accessories.

Which one should you buy?

Pick the wired G502 X if you want a no-battery desktop mouse

  • You prefer a permanent USB connection.
  • You want the stated 89 g wired model.
  • You use free-spin or ratcheted scrolling and want wheel tilt controls.
  • You value an adjustable or removable DPI-shift button.
  • You do not want to pay for wireless hardware or manage charging.

This recommendation is about the wired G502 X specifically. It does not automatically apply to the G502 X LIGHTSPEED.

Pick the Basilisk V4 Pro if its feature set matches your workflow

  • You need HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2, and wired mode in one mouse.
  • You will use the 14 customizable controls, third side button, or M1 edge button.
  • You want the HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2’s 24-step tactile, 48-step precision tactile, and free-spin modes.
  • You have a use for Bluetooth pairing with up to three devices.
  • You specifically want the published 8,000 Hz wireless and wired polling claim and 7-zone Chroma RGB.

Buy it for those capabilities, not because a 50,000 DPI or 8,000 Hz headline guarantees better play. The announcement does not establish a current price, so value depends on your region.

Pick the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed when you want a different wireless balance

  • You want a Basilisk V4 wireless model with a stated 94 g weight.
  • Up to 140 hours is sufficient for your charging routine.
  • You prefer 12 customizable controls and the Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3 rather than the V4 Pro’s feature tier.

Do not buy it expecting the V4 Pro’s published 14-control layout, Bluetooth multi-device description, or 200/275-hour battery claims unless the exact product page confirms those features.

Pick G502 X LIGHTSPEED only after checking its wireless details

The wireless G502 X is the right branch if you want the G502 X control concept without a cable. Its cited US page confirms 13 customizable controls, LIGHTSPEED wireless, LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches, and an updated HERO 44K sensor. Because the supplied page does not establish its battery runtime or weight, verify those details and the current price before comparing it with either Basilisk model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buying checklist

  1. Write down the exact name: Basilisk V4 Pro, Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed, G502 X wired, or G502 X LIGHTSPEED.
  2. Decide wired versus wireless first: the wired G502 X has no battery; all other branches discussed here involve wireless considerations to different degrees.
  3. Count the controls you will actually bind: V4 Pro has 14, V4 HyperSpeed 12, and G502 X LIGHTSPEED 13; the wired G502 X page describes specific controls but does not state a total in the supplied details.
  4. Check the wheel behavior: V4 Pro has three listed scroll modes; G502 X wired has free-spin, ratcheted, and left/right tilt controls.
  5. Compare only model-specific sensor claims: V4 Pro uses Focus Pro 50K, V4 HyperSpeed uses Focus X 33K, wired G502 X uses HERO 25K, and G502 X LIGHTSPEED uses an updated HERO 44K on the cited US page.
  6. Confirm weight where it matters: 94 g is established for V4 HyperSpeed and 89 g for wired G502 X; the supplied pages do not establish matching weights for the other two.
  7. Check regional price and stock immediately before purchase: the Logitech figures above were storefront snapshots from October 13, 2026, while V4 pricing was not established in the launch announcement.
  8. Check return terms: comfort, grip reach, wheel resistance, and click preference are personal and were not independently tested in the available material.

Bottom line

The wired Logitech G502 X is the clearest choice for a fixed setup that should never need charging. The Basilisk V4 Pro is the most feature-heavy option on the published specifications, with three connection modes, 14 controls, a multi-mode tilt wheel, and stated 8,000 Hz polling. The Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed is a separate 94 g wireless tier with 12 controls and up to 140 hours of stated battery life. The G502 X LIGHTSPEED is a separate wireless Logitech model whose 13-control, HERO 44K specification does not make it interchangeable with the wired G502 X.

Choose among them by connection, control layout, wheel behavior, hand fit, and the price in your region—not by assuming that a larger sensor number or a wireless label settles the decision.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
