GPU, processor, memory and display choices vary substantially across the RZ09-0423x family, so any buying decision should start with the exact configuration rather than the Blade 17 name alone.
What the 2022 Blade 17 actually includes
Razer’s support specifications identify the 2022 family as model series RZ09-0423x. Available graphics options are the GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPUs. Processor choices are Intel Core i7-12800H and Core i9-12900H, with 16 GB or 32 GB of memory depending on the model. Screen selection is equally important: Razer lists FHD 360 Hz, QHD 165 Hz, QHD 240 Hz and UHD 144 Hz panels.
The RTX 3080 Ti version carries 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Razer’s documentation is inconsistent about its maximum graphics power: the support specifications state up to 165 W for the RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, while the product page describes up to 175 W for RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti models. Treat the precise wattage as SKU-dependent unless the seller provides the complete part number and specification sheet.
Performance: what the reviews measured
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Tom’s Hardware recorded 116 frames per second on its RTX 3080 Ti Blade 17 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p with the highest settings. In that run, the Blade exceeded the MSI GE76 Raider at 112 fps, the Alienware x17 R2 at 107 fps and the Aorus 17 at 89 fps. This is a result from one review unit and workload, not a guaranteed frame rate for every Blade 17.

Why results differ between reviews
Notebookcheck’s review unit also combined a Core i7-12800H with an RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, but its tables cover multiple games and synthetic tests. Resolution, preset, cooling mode, BIOS limits and display configuration can all change the result. Compare only tests that use the same game, resolution, settings and performance mode; do not merge figures from different test conditions into a single performance claim.
Choosing the right screen
| Panel | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| FHD, 360 Hz | Competitive players prioritizing maximum refresh rate | Lower image resolution than the QHD and UHD options |
| QHD, 165 Hz | Balanced image quality and high-refresh gaming | Less headroom for esports refresh than the 240 Hz model |
| QHD, 240 Hz | High-end gaming with sharper-than-FHD output | Requires a powerful configuration to exploit its refresh rate |
| UHD, 144 Hz | Users who value resolution for games and creative work | More demanding to drive at native resolution |
TechRadar’s RTX 3080 Ti review machine used the 240 Hz, 1440p panel. That specification should not be assumed for every RTX 3080 Ti listing, because Razer sold the family with all four display choices.

CPU, GPU and memory configurations
- RTX 3080 Ti: the flagship option with 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM, intended for the highest settings and demanding GPU workloads.
- RTX 3070 Ti: a lower graphics tier that may share the same chassis and display choices, but is not equivalent to the 3080 Ti test results.
- RTX 3060: the entry graphics option in the family; benchmark numbers from the 3080 Ti model do not apply.
- Core i7-12800H and Core i9-12900H: both are listed 12th-generation choices. Confirm which processor is installed before comparing reviews or listings.
- 16 GB or 32 GB memory: capacity varies by configuration, so check the exact specification rather than relying on the model name.
Price and value in context
TechRadar listed its review configuration at $3,999.99 in the United States, £4,299.99 in the United Kingdom and AU$7,199 in Australia. Those were original review-era prices for a specific Core i7-12800H, RTX 3080 Ti and 240 Hz QHD configuration, not current market quotes. Used and refurbished pricing changes with condition, warranty, region and panel choice; no current listing price is established here.
At that historical price, the Blade 17 competed as a premium performance machine rather than a value laptop. A second-hand purchase can make more sense, but only after checking battery condition, display specification, GPU, processor, memory, seller reputation and remaining warranty.

How to identify the configuration you are buying
- Ask for the full RZ09-0423x model or part number, not just “Blade 17 2022.”
- Verify the GPU is specifically the RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU if you are using the benchmark figures above.
- Confirm whether the processor is the Core i7-12800H or Core i9-12900H and whether memory is 16 GB or 32 GB.
- Match the panel to your needs: FHD 360 Hz, QHD 165 Hz, QHD 240 Hz or UHD 144 Hz.
- Check the seller’s stated graphics power and look for the discrepancy between Razer’s 165 W support figure and 175 W product-page figure.
- For used or refurbished units, confirm battery health, return terms and warranty before paying.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- RTX 3080 Ti configurations offer very high-end laptop graphics performance and 16 GB of VRAM.
- The family provides unusually broad display choice, from 360 Hz FHD to 144 Hz UHD.
- The tested 3080 Ti unit led the named comparison laptops in Tom’s Hardware’s 1080p, highest-setting Shadow of the Tomb Raider run.
- 12th-generation Core i7 and i9 options provide a strong platform for gaming and CPU-heavy work.
Limitations
- “Blade 17” covers many materially different configurations, making generic reviews easy to misapply.
- Razer’s published maximum GPU-power figures do not agree, so performance expectations should be tied to a precise SKU.
- The flagship configuration was expensive at launch, and historic review prices should not be mistaken for today’s value.
- Review benchmarks do not establish battery life, failure rates, sales volume or long-term reliability for the product family.
Verdict
The 2022 Blade 17 RTX 3080 Ti is a formidable gaming laptop when equipped with the tested class of hardware, and the 116-fps Shadow of the Tomb Raider result shows why it attracted attention. Its main complication is configuration sprawl: screen, CPU, memory and graphics power vary, while Razer’s own wattage figures conflict. It is worth considering today primarily when the exact RTX 3080 Ti specification, panel, condition and warranty are verified at a substantially lower price than its original premium positioning.
