What did VOID Interactive show in the screenshots?
VOID’s July 2, 2025, post, “Clarification on Content Changes”, included before-and-after visuals. The developer said the comparison was meant to demonstrate that the game’s tone, atmosphere, and graphical impact remained intact.

The images followed a June 27 development briefing that discussed changes associated with the console release. The briefing specifically said the child character on the Twisted Nerve mission would be changed to appear asleep or unconscious rather than convulsing. GameSpot’s July 8, 2025, account of the dispute described several content changes. The developer briefing and the later reporting do not establish the precise platform rule behind each edit.

- Twisted Nerve: The child NPC’s animation changed from convulsing to appearing asleep or unconscious, according to VOID’s June 27 briefing.
- Nudity and an allusion to child sexual-abuse material: GameSpot reported that these depictions were changed.
- Dismemberment: GameSpot reported that dismemberment of dead bodies was removed, while dismemberment of enemies during combat remained. VOID’s briefing separately said the dismemberment depiction in the development build would remain as-is on all platforms after the console release.
These accounts concern changes associated with the 2025 console release; they do not establish whether subsequent updates changed the assets again.
Did Ready or Not censor its PC version?
“Censorship” is how some players characterized the changes, not an uncontested finding about what happened. Critics argued the edits affected the game’s atmosphere. Other reactions dismissed the controversy. GameSpot reported that backlash continued after VOID’s clarification.

VOID described the changes as limited edits required for other platforms, rather than a broader reduction in violence. GameSpot reproduced the developer’s statement: “The effects of gore and violence — key to the game’s immersive realism — have not been toned down…we’ve only made changes where absolutely required, and only to the letter of the regulations — no further.” The full clarification is available from VOID Interactive.
The available accounts do not identify a specific certification clause or establish that a particular platform holder or regulator ordered any individual edit. They therefore support describing the dispute as a disagreement over the changes and their effect—not as proof of a specific rule or order.

What was the release context?
GameSpot reported on July 8, 2025, that the game was available on PC and was scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on July 15, 2025. That was the schedule reported at the time, not confirmation of current platform availability.
