What’s included in the new editions?
Rockstar’s December 2025 announcement says the game launched on all three consoles on December 2, 2025. The package includes the single-player Red Dead Redemption story and its zombie-themed expansion, Undead Nightmare, along with bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition. Rockstar’s game page specifies that there is no multiplayer content.

What enhancements are confirmed on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?
Rockstar says PS5 and Xbox Series X|S offer a 60-frames-per-second experience, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. Those are the features the company announced for those two platforms; its announcement does not assign these specifications to Switch 2. They are platform specifications from Rockstar, not independently published comparative benchmark results.

Rockstar commonly refers to Microsoft’s current console family as Xbox Series X|S, covering both Series X and Series S. For the PS5 and Xbox specifications, “up to 4K” describes Rockstar’s announced maximum, not a claim that every display or output setting uses 4K.

How to get the free Switch 2 Edition upgrade
Rockstar Support’s Switch 2 upgrade instructions cover physical-cartridge and digital owners:
- Insert the original Nintendo Switch cartridge, or install the digital Switch version.
- Make sure the game is updated to its latest version, then launch it.
- Choose “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” from the game menu.
- Download the edition from Nintendo eShop. Rockstar describes the upgrade as free.
How existing PS4 and Xbox owners can upgrade
Rockstar Support’s upgrade-route index lists a free PS4-to-PS5 upgrade. It also lists a free Xbox Series X|S route, but only for owners of the digital backward-compatible Xbox 360 version. The Xbox route should not be treated as applying to every earlier Xbox purchase; consult Rockstar’s linked instructions for the specific redemption details.
