Quick diagnostic checklist
Before changing anything, confirm:
- The error appears when launching CADKON, not another application.
- The full message mentions
regwork.dll, such as “not found,” “missing,” “could not be loaded,” or “not designed to run on Windows.” - The problem began after a CADKON update, repair, uninstall, cleanup, antivirus action, or move to another drive.
- You know whether the installed CADKON release is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- The file is missing from the CADKON installation folder, rather than from a Windows system folder.
- The error does not also mention another file such as
VCRUNTIME140.dllorMSVCP140.dll.
regwork.dll is associated with CADKON and is identified as “CADKON LT Aplikace.” It is not a normal Windows system DLL. The safest repair is therefore to restore the matching CADKON installation from its official installer or customer portal, not to download a loose DLL and copy it into a Windows folder.
What regwork.dll is
Available file metadata associates regwork.dll with CADKON, historically published by AB Studio s.s r.o. CADKON’s current corporate information identifies Graitec s.r.o. as the developer and describes the product as formerly associated with AB Studio Consulting + Engineering s.r.o.
Public information confirms the CADKON association but does not establish a complete version list. It also does not provide a reliable, vendor-confirmed architecture and version combination for every CADKON release. Some third-party listings disagree about whether particular copies are 32-bit or 64-bit, so do not use those listings to choose a replacement file.
This distinction matters:
regwork.dllis an application component.- It is not supplied by Windows.
- It should normally be located in a CADKON installation directory beside the relevant CADKON executable.
- It should not normally be copied to
C:WindowsSystem32orC:WindowsSysWOW64. - A file with the same name from another CADKON release may be incompatible.
The current CADKON product line includes CADKON+ editions such as BASIC, ARCHITECTURE, MEP and RC. That does not prove that every edition or historical release contains regwork.dll, so repair the exact edition installed on the affected computer.

Fix 1: Repair CADKON from Installed apps
This is the fastest and most likely solution when the file was removed, damaged, or skipped during installation.
- Close CADKON and any CADKON launcher or updater.
- Open Start and select Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps on Windows 11. On Windows 10, select Apps & features.
- Search for CADKON.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the matching CADKON entry.
- Choose Modify, Change, or Repair, if available.
- Follow the installer prompts and allow it to run with administrator permission.
- Restart Windows after the repair finishes.
- Launch CADKON and check whether the error is gone.
Some releases open a separate maintenance wizard instead of displaying a Repair button directly in Settings. In that wizard, choose Repair rather than Uninstall.
If CADKON is listed in Control Panel instead
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the CADKON installation.
- Click Change or Repair.
- Complete the maintenance wizard.
- Restart Windows and test CADKON.
A successful repair normally restores the file to the CADKON folder and allows the program to open without the regwork.dll message. If the repair completes but the same message returns immediately, continue with the antivirus and reinstall checks below.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact CADKON release
Use this step when Repair is unavailable, fails, or the CADKON installation was partially removed.

- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected CADKON edition.
- Select its three-dot menu and choose Uninstall.
- If Windows redirects you to a maintenance wizard, choose Uninstall there.
- Restart Windows.
- Obtain the installer from the official CADKON customer portal, the licensed installation media, or the official CADKON trial or download process.
- Confirm that the installer matches the installed edition and release family.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Install CADKON into the intended location.
- Apply the matching service pack or update supplied for that release.
- Restart Windows again and launch CADKON.
Do not copy regwork.dll from another computer unless an administrator has confirmed that both installations use the same CADKON edition, release and architecture and that the file came from a trusted, matching backup. Reinstalling the complete application is safer because it restores related files, configuration and installer registration together.
If you cannot locate the original installer, contact CADKON or GRAITEC support or retrieve the package through the customer portal. Do not substitute a similarly named DLL.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an application file after an update or during a later scan. Do not immediately restore the file just because its name matches the error.

- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent quarantined or blocked items.
- Look for an entry whose original path is inside the CADKON installation directory.
- Record the detection name and original file path.
- Verify that CADKON was installed from a legitimate official source.
- If the file is clearly part of that trusted installation, use the available Restore or Allow on device action only after reviewing the detection.
- Run the CADKON repair again so the installer can restore the correct file.
- Start CADKON and test it.
Microsoft warns that allowing a genuinely malicious file can expose the computer. If the detection is unclear, leave the item quarantined and send the detection name, file path and CADKON installer details to CADKON support or your security administrator.
If the file returns briefly and disappears again, the antivirus product may be removing it during installation or launch. Temporarily changing security settings should only be done under appropriate administrative guidance. Reinstalling from an official source does not by itself prove that a detection is a false positive.
Fix 4: Check the CADKON path and architecture
A missing-file message can result from a damaged shortcut, a moved installation, or a mismatch between the executable and its supporting files.
Confirm the installation directory
- Right-click the CADKON shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Check the Target field on the Shortcut tab.
- Select Open File Location, if available.
- Look in that folder for
regwork.dll. - If the file exists, verify that the shortcut launches the same CADKON installation.
- If the file is absent, run CADKON Repair or reinstall the matching release.
Do not move the DLL manually to another folder merely to satisfy the error. CADKON may depend on other files located beside it, and changing the search path can create additional failures.

Account for 32-bit and 64-bit software
The architecture of the DLL must match the CADKON component that loads it. A 32-bit CADKON installation needs its matching 32-bit application files and dependencies. A 64-bit installation needs the corresponding 64-bit components.
Windows folder names can be misleading:
- On 64-bit Windows,
C:WindowsSystem32commonly contains 64-bit Windows system files. C:WindowsSysWOW64commonly contains 32-bit Windows system files.
Do not copy regwork.dll into either directory. Do not place one copy in both directories. The correct location is normally the CADKON program directory, and the correct architecture comes from the matching CADKON installer.
If the error says the file is “not designed to run on Windows,” suspect a corrupt binary, wrong architecture, or an incompatible CADKON release. A missing search path is not the only possible cause. Repair or reinstall the complete CADKON package instead of replacing one file.
Fix 5: Read the complete error for another dependency
Sometimes regwork.dll is only one part of the startup failure. Read the entire dialog and write down every filename it mentions.

If it also names a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll:
- Identify whether the installed CADKON application is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Open Microsoft’s Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable Downloads page.
- Download the architecture required by the application.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Restart Windows.
- Test CADKON again.
Do not infer the required runtime architecture from regwork.dll alone. Install only the Microsoft package identified by the complete error, CADKON documentation, or the application installer.
If the message names a licensing service, graphics component, DirectX file, or driver, repair that named dependency through its official source. Do not assume that every startup failure mentioning regwork.dll has the same cause.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
Windows repair commands do not normally recreate a third-party CADKON DLL. They are useful when CADKON failure occurs alongside broader Windows corruption, damaged protected files, or failures in several unrelated applications.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test CADKON.
- If
regwork.dllis still missing, repair or reinstall CADKON.
Microsoft describes DISM as a Windows image repair tool and SFC as a checker for protected Windows resources. Neither command should be presented as a direct way to recreate a missing CADKON file.
Running these commands repeatedly without identifying what changed can make troubleshooting harder. Fix 7: Update or reinstall a related driver
A graphics or licensing-driver problem can prevent CADKON from starting, but update a driver only when the complete error, CADKON support, or Device Manager points to that component.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as Display adapters, Network adapters, or another category named by the error.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties and review the General and Driver tabs.
- Note the device name and current driver provider.
- Obtain the correct driver from the computer, graphics-card, or device manufacturer.
- Install it and restart Windows.
- Launch CADKON again.
If a recent driver update caused the problem, open the device’s Properties > Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver, if available. Do not uninstall a working device driver without first confirming that the replacement is available.

Fix 8: Test permissions and the Windows profile
If CADKON works for one Windows user but not another, the application file may be intact and the problem may involve per-user settings, permissions, or damaged profile data.

- Sign in with another Windows account that has permission to run CADKON.
- Launch CADKON.
- If it works, the problem is probably limited to the original profile.
- Right-click the CADKON shortcut and choose Run as administrator once as a test.
- If elevation changes the result, check permissions on the CADKON installation folder and user data folders.
- Reset or rebuild CADKON’s affected per-user settings only after backing them up.
- Contact CADKON support if you need release-specific instructions for preserving settings and authorization data.
Running the program as administrator can identify a permissions issue, but it is not a substitute for repairing the installation. Avoid granting broad write permissions to system folders or copying the DLL into a protected Windows directory.

If antivirus detected suspicious activity, several applications are failing, or the problem appeared after an unknown software change, run a full Microsoft Defender scan.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Scan options.
- Choose Full scan and select Scan now.
- Follow any recommended cleanup steps.
- Restart Windows.
- Repair or reinstall CADKON from the official source.
An offline scan may be appropriate when malware is suspected of interfering with Windows while it is running.
System Restore is reasonable only when the problem clearly began after a recent application or system change and a suitable restore point exists:
- Search for Create a restore point.
- Open it and select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the failure began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Complete the restore and restart Windows.
- Repair CADKON afterward if the file remains missing.
System Restore is not the preferred replacement for reinstalling CADKON, and it should not replace malware removal or a vendor-supported repair.
Why regsvr32 regwork.dll is usually wrong
Do not run:
regsvr32 regwork.dll
as a generic fix. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by certain ActiveX or COM components. There is no verified evidence that regwork.dll is such a component.

- Its architecture may not match CADKON.
- Its release may not match the installed program.
- The file may be modified or incomplete.
- It may not include related dependencies.
- Copying it into System32 or SysWOW64 may create new conflicts.
- It does not repair a damaged installer, shortcut, license component, or service pack.
Use the official CADKON customer portal, the original licensed installer, or CADKON/GRAITEC support. If you have a trusted backup, verify that the file came from the same CADKON release and installation architecture before restoring it.

- Whether another Windows user can start CADKON.
CADKON’s support information states that current installers, updates and documentation are delivered through its customer portal. Current Windows compatibility can also depend on the CADKON release and service pack, so support should confirm the correct package rather than supplying an unverified standalone DLL.
