TheGamer’s Summer Games Fest preview called Relooted “the only heist game that’s ever made me feel like a real master thief.” The game’s design helps explain that reaction: you plan a crew and getaway route before taking an artifact starts a timed escape.
What do you actually do in Relooted?
Relooted is a single-player action-adventure game developed and published by Nyamakop. Steam lists its release date as February 10, 2026. Its heist loop links preparation directly to the getaway:
- Prepare the job: inspect the escape route, solve puzzles and obstacles, and position crew members whose abilities can help.
- Take the artifact: this starts the countdown.
- Make the escape: control Nomali through flow-based parkour and get out. A poorly prepared route makes the timed run harder.
That structure gives “master thief” a specific meaning here: the fantasy is not just sneaking around, but making a plan and then carrying it out under pressure. The timed parkour getaway also makes the game sound more kinetic than a slow stealth simulation. That is an interpretation of the mechanics described on Steam, not a claim of firsthand play.
Why is the heist happening?
The story is set in an Africanfuturist future. You play Nomali, who recruits a crew of ordinary people from different African countries to recover artifacts from Western museums. The hideout is in South Africa, and the setting includes parts of a future Johannesburg.

The plot’s Transatlantic Returns Treaty is fictional. In the game’s premise, an amendment restricts returns to objects on public display; museums then begin taking artifacts off display. The store description says the crew can recover 70 artifacts that exist in real life and hold cultural, historical, and spiritual significance for the communities they came from. That is a count of game content, not a statistic about real-world repatriation.
What does “master thief” mean compared with Thief?
The phrase has a familiar history in games: Xbox Wire’s 2013 interview called Garrett, the protagonist of the Thief series, “the Master Thief.” In that interview, Eidos-Montréal senior producer Stephane Roy explained the series’ emphasis on avoiding detection: “Garrett is safest in the shadows and as soon as he steps foot in the light he’s at risk of being detected.”

That is useful context, not evidence that Relooted plays the same way. The available description of Relooted instead emphasizes crew setup, route planning, obstacles, and a countdown-driven parkour escape. The games’ shared language does not establish a direct mechanical comparison.
What should PC players know?
Steam lists controller support and says the developers recommend a controller; it does not say one is required. The store page also lists a demo, English audio, interface, and subtitles, plus French interface and subtitles. Store details can change, so check the current listing for availability.
