resampledmo.dll is a genuine Microsoft Windows component called the Audio Resampler DSP. If resampledmo.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair Windows media components rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
The file converts audio between sample rates and belongs to the Windows media stack. Applications and games that use Windows audio or Media Foundation can fail when it is absent, damaged, blocked, or incompatible with the application’s architecture.

Before repairing anything
Record the exact message. Common variants include:
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ResampleDmo.DLL was not found.”
- “The program can’t start because resampledmo.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “resampledmo.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
- A program-specific error naming
ResampleDmo.DLL.
A missing-file error, a bad-image error, and an entry-point error do not always have the same cause.
Also check whether one program fails or several unrelated programs fail. Several failures point toward Windows media components, an N edition, corruption, or security software. If only one game fails, repair that application as well.

1. Check whether Windows is an N or KN edition
Time needed: 2–5 minutes
Windows 10 N and Windows 11 N omit Windows Media Player and related media technologies, including parts of Media Foundation. This is the most direct explanation when the error appears after a clean Windows installation and multiple media applications fail.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Under Windows specifications, read the edition name.
If it contains N, install the official Media Feature Pack.
Install Media Feature Pack on Windows 11 N
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Optional features.
- Select View features beside Add an optional feature.
- Search for or select Media Feature Pack.
- Select Next, then Install.
- Restart Windows manually after installation.
Install Media Feature Pack on Windows 10 N
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Select Optional features.
- Select Add a feature.
- Select Media Feature Pack.
- Select Install.
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft documents the package and its requirements on its Media Feature Pack for Windows N page.
After restarting, launch the affected application again. If it works, the problem was an omitted Windows media component. If Media Feature Pack is not listed, confirm that the installed edition is actually N and that Windows Update is functioning.
2. Repair Windows with DISM, then SFC
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
On a normal Windows edition, resampledmo.dll should be restored through Windows servicing. DISM repairs the component store, while System File Checker uses that store to repair protected system files. Run DISM first.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish. Do not close the window if progress appears to pause.
Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows when both commands finish. Try the affected application again.

Outbyte PC Repair can reduce the guesswork when you are repeatedly hunting through repair results and cannot tell what changed; its free scan identifies issues, while repair is handled by the full version. It is optional, and DISM plus SFC remain the Microsoft repair path.
If DISM reports that source files could not be found, use a compatible Windows installation source rather than a random download. Microsoft documents this pattern:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:RepairSourceWindows /LimitAccess
C:RepairSourceWindows is only a placeholder. It must point to a repair source matching the installed Windows edition and build. See Microsoft’s repair a Windows image guidance.

To scan it for repair:
sfc /scanfile=C:WindowsSystem32resampledmo.dll
These are general SFC commands, not a special resampledmo.dll repair procedure.

3. Check the normal Windows locations
Time needed: 2–5 minutes
On 64-bit Windows, the normal locations are:
C:WindowsSystem32resampledmo.dllfor the 64-bit Windows componentC:WindowsSysWOW64resampledmo.dllfor the 32-bit compatibility component
The names are confusing: System32 conventionally contains 64-bit system files, while SysWOW64 contains 32-bit files.
- Press Windows + E.
- Enter
C:WindowsSystem32in the address bar. - Look for
resampledmo.dll. - If Windows is 64-bit, also check
C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Do not copy whichever file you find into the game or application folder. A file can have the right name but the wrong architecture, build, dependencies, or signature.
If the file exists but the error remains, the file may be damaged, a dependency may be missing, the program may be loading from an unexpected location, or the displayed error may actually be a bad-image or entry-point error. Return to DISM and SFC rather than replacing the file manually.
4. Repair the affected application or game
Time needed: 5–30 minutes
If only one application reports the error and other media programs work, the application installation may be damaged.
Microsoft Store or packaged application
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected application.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Select Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Test the application.
- If it still fails, use Reset where available.
Reset can remove application data, so use it only after Repair.
Conventional desktop application
Use the application installer’s Repair option if it provides one. For a game, open its official launcher and use its Verify, Repair, or Verify integrity of files command. If that does not help, uninstall and reinstall from the publisher’s official installer.
Reinstalling the application cannot restore media technologies deliberately omitted from Windows N. Check the Windows edition first.
Run the program normally after repairing it. If it requires elevated access because of a separate permission problem, right-click its shortcut and select Run as administrator for a test. Administrator mode does not repair a missing Windows component.
5. Check Windows Security Protection History
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Security software may quarantine or remove a genuine system file, although a missing file alone does not prove malware.
- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions for
resampledmo.dllor related Windows media files.
Do not restore the file automatically. First update Defender, run a full scan, and review why the file was detected. Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined malicious file can expose the device again.
Recommended Free Tools
If the file is confirmed to be a genuine Windows component, use DISM and SFC to restore it instead of copying it out of quarantine. If the detection remains unclear, leave the item quarantined and investigate through Windows Security.
6. Update a media or audio driver only when evidence points there
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A driver update is not the usual fix for a missing Windows DLL. Consider it when the problem began after installing an audio device and Device Manager also shows a hardware error.

Outbyte Driver Updater can help when identifying which of many device drivers is stale is the difficult part; its free scan shows the detected issues, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and a driver update will not replace Windows component repair when the media stack is corrupted.

7. Use recovery when repairs keep failing
Time needed: 30 minutes or longer
If DISM and SFC repeatedly fail, or the problem returns after Windows Update, the component store, disk, or Windows installation may be damaged.
Try these in order:
- Install all pending Windows updates.
- Restart and run DISM followed by SFC again.
- Review Settings > System > Recovery for available recovery options.
- Use System Restore if a restore point predates the problem.
- Perform an in-place Windows repair installation using compatible official installation media.
Back up important files before recovery work. If the computer also shows disk errors, repeated update failures, random corruption, or several unrelated system problems, check disk health and consider professional support.
Why downloading resampledmo.dll is unsafe
Do not download this DLL from a random DLL website and place it in System32, SysWOW64, or the application folder. A downloaded copy may contain malware, belong to the wrong Windows build, use the wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture, or lack dependencies. It also leaves the underlying component-store problem unresolved.
The safe sources are Windows servicing, Media Feature Pack for an eligible N edition, a compatible official repair source, or an in-place Windows repair. For an application-specific failure, use the application publisher’s official installer.

regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose the appropriate registration entry point. It is not a general command for restoring missing or corrupted Windows files.
Microsoft does not provide an end-user repair procedure telling users to run regsvr32 resampledmo.dll. Do not register an unofficial copy. If a verified file exists and an application reports a specific COM or registration problem, use guidance for that exact application and the correct architecture. Registration will not repair a missing Windows media stack.

FAQ
Is resampledmo.dll a legitimate Windows file?
Yes. Microsoft documents it as the Windows Audio Resampler DSP and lists the System32 copy as part of the Windows media foundation package.
Does DirectX install resampledmo.dll?
The legacy DirectX End-User Runtime provides older libraries such as D3DX, XAudio 2.7, and XInput 1.3. Microsoft does not identify resampledmo.dll as one of that package’s payloads, so DirectX is not the primary repair.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDoes Visual C++ install it?
No verified Microsoft documentation identifies this file as part of a Visual C++ Redistributable. Visual C++ may fix a separate VCRUNTIME or MSVCP error, but it is not the normal solution here.
Why do several unrelated programs fail together?
They may all depend on the same Windows media stack. An N edition without Media Feature Pack, component corruption, or security software removing a system file can affect multiple applications.
What if the file exists but the program still fails?
Check whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit, run DISM and SFC, inspect the exact error wording, and repair the application. A missing dependency or damaged copy can produce an error even when the filename is visible.
Should I manually copy the file?
For ordinary troubleshooting, no. Restore it through Windows servicing or Media Feature Pack. Manual replacement is an advanced recovery procedure requiring a known-good copy from a matching Windows installation, not a downloaded file.
