Resetting Your Logitech G935 Headset: Troubleshooting, Re-Pairing, and Maintenance

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no single universal factory reset for the Logitech G935. “Resetting” can mean a harmless power cycle, restoring the wireless link to its USB Wireless Mix Adapter, refreshing G HUB settings, or diagnosing a hardware fault. Start with charging and power checks, then re-pair only when wireless communication is the problem. A 3.5-mm wired test tells you whether the failure is wireless or physical.

Before resetting the G935

  • Note or save important G HUB profiles and custom EQ settings.
  • Charge the headset and inspect the USB cable, charging port, earcups, microphone boom, and power switch.
  • Check whether the headset is merely asleep: the default inactivity timer is 15 minutes.
  • Identify whether the fault affects wireless audio, wired audio, the microphone, charging, one earcup, or all functions.
  • Check warranty status before opening either earcup.

Logitech’s current G935 support entry lists no downloads or documents, so do not assume that a firmware package or maintained firmware utility is available. Use the current support portal for region-specific help: Logitech Support.

Quick reset: power-cycle the headset

  1. Slide the G935 power switch fully off.
  2. Wait several seconds, then slide it on.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect the USB Wireless Mix Adapter directly to the computer or console.
  4. Use another direct USB port, avoiding hubs while testing.
  5. Choose the G935 as the operating system’s playback and microphone device, then test.

This is non-destructive. It does not erase G HUB profiles or repair a failed battery, speaker, switch, charging port, or receiver.

Re-pair the G935 with its USB Wireless Mix Adapter

Use this when the headset powers on but the adapter and headset no longer communicate, or when pairing a replacement adapter. Logitech documents the sequence in its G935 sleep and power-off article.

  1. Plug the adapter directly into the computer or console.
  2. Insert a pin into the adapter’s small reset port.
  3. Remove the pin when the adapter LED begins blinking.
  4. Turn on the headset.
  5. Hold the headset’s Microphone Mute button for 15 seconds.
  6. Wait for the G logo to blink green, then become solid and return to its selected lighting behavior.
  7. Test playback and microphone input.

Re-pairing restores the headset-to-adapter relationship; it is not demonstrated as a complete factory reset and should not be expected to erase every G HUB setting.

Troubleshoot by symptom

The G935 will not turn on

  • Connect it to USB power and allow a substantial charge period. Logitech’s quick-start guide estimates about 3.5 hours from fully depleted to full on standard USB output: G935 quick-start guide.
  • Try another known-good USB cable and direct USB port.
  • Move the power switch fully off and on, watching for lights or intermittent response.
  • Try the 3.5-mm cable and another source.

No light, charging indication, sound, or wired response after these checks points toward the battery, charging circuit, switch, or main board rather than pairing.

The headset is on but G HUB or the computer cannot detect it

  • Reconnect the adapter directly and try a different port or computer.
  • Confirm that the operating system has not selected another playback or recording device.
  • Close and reopen G HUB, then select the G935 device page and settings icon.
  • Re-pair only if the adapter and headset are powered but not communicating.

A defective adapter, USB port, headset radio, permissions issue, or platform limitation can look like a reset problem.

There is no wireless audio

Check the adapter connection, selected playback device, volume, mute state, and pairing. Improve line of sight by moving the adapter away from the rear of a computer chassis; a short USB extension can help with placement, but cannot fix a dead adapter or radio. Test wired mode before concluding that the speakers have failed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Audio crackles, drops out, or becomes static

  • Charge the headset and reduce distance from the adapter.
  • Use a direct USB port and improve line of sight.
  • Test without a hub and with another computer.
  • Inspect the 3.5-mm and USB cables for movement-related faults.
  • Re-pair if the link repeatedly disappears.

Logitech’s related G933 guidance also identifies low battery, interference, receiver connection, and software issues as possible causes; it is supporting context for a closely related model, not a G935-specific repair guarantee: G933 troubleshooting.

Sound works but the microphone does not

  • Lower the flip-to-mute boom completely and check the mute control.
  • Select the G935 microphone in both the operating system and the application.
  • Test another application and then wired mode.
  • Inspect the boom hinge and cable for looseness or intermittent operation.

The G935 uses a cardioid/unidirectional flip-to-mute microphone, so failure in both wired and wireless modes suggests the boom, mute switch, or microphone hardware.

One earcup is silent

Test wired and wireless modes, another source, and balance controls. Silence in both modes points to a speaker, internal connection, or physical cable fault; re-pairing will not restore a failed driver.

The headset sleeps or powers off

This may be normal. By default, the G935 enters sleep after 15 minutes without audio input or output. In G HUB, select the G935 and open the headset settings icon to extend the timer up to 60 minutes or disable it. Press a button or send an audio signal to wake it. After 30 minutes in sleep mode, it enters power-off mode; slide the power switch off and on to recover. Details are in Logitech’s sleep-timer documentation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The battery percentage is wrong or stops increasing

  • Charge through a direct USB port with another cable.
  • Allow a complete charge cycle before judging the percentage.
  • Compare real runtime with lighting disabled and enabled.
  • A frozen percentage, rapid drop, or very short runtime indicates reporting, charging, or battery aging.

Logitech rates up to 12 hours with lighting off and about 8 hours with default lighting; the 12-hour figure is based on 50% volume with LEDs disabled, and actual life varies with volume, lighting, wireless conditions, software, and battery age. See the G935 product specifications.

Use the 3.5-mm cable as a diagnostic test

  1. Connect the supplied 3.5-mm cable to the headset and a compatible source.
  2. Play audio and test the microphone where the source supports headset input.
  3. Repeat with another device if possible.

Good wired audio with failed wireless audio narrows the fault to the adapter, USB path, radio, pairing, or software. Failure in both modes points toward the headset, source device, speaker, microphone, or physical cable. Wired mode bypasses wireless features and does not provide every G HUB, EQ, or surround function.

iFixit provides a practical G935 battery-replacement guide. Anyone attempting it must match voltage, connector, dimensions, chemistry, and electrical specifications. Stop if the lithium-ion cell is swollen, hot, leaking, punctured, or damaged; never bend, crush, puncture, or short it. Recycle batteries through an appropriate local program.

Cleaning and maintenance

  • Power off and disconnect the headset before cleaning.
  • Wipe exterior surfaces with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth; never spray liquid directly.
  • Keep moisture away from USB ports, microphone openings, controls, and earcup seams.
  • Do not soak or machine-wash cushions unless Logitech explicitly documents that method.
  • Protect the earcups from crushing, heat, and long-term full depletion.
  • Avoid sharply bending the charging cable or straining its connector.
  • Keep the adapter where it has a clear path to the headset and gently remove dust from openings.

When resetting will not help

Stop repeating resets when the headset has no charging response, fails in both wired and wireless modes, loses one channel everywhere, has a damaged port or switch, shows a swollen battery, or uses a receiver that never powers or reacts in known-good USB ports. These symptoms indicate hardware or physical damage. Contact Logitech through its support portal, pursue warranty service, or compare repair cost and risk with replacement.

Repair, warranty, or replacement?

  • Reset or re-pair: headset powers on, wired mode works, and the fault is limited to wireless detection or pairing.
  • Warranty/support: the unit is within the applicable warranty period or has a charging, switch, receiver, or board fault.
  • Battery repair: wireless and wired functions work but runtime has sharply deteriorated, and the unit is out of warranty.
  • Replacement: both connection modes fail, physical damage is extensive, parts are unavailable, or opening the headset is not worth the safety risk.

FAQ

Does re-pairing erase G HUB profiles?

Logitech’s pairing instructions establish the headset-to-adapter link; they do not state that profiles or all headset settings are erased.

Can the G935 pair with a different Logitech receiver?

A replacement G935 adapter may require the documented pin-and-Microphone-Mute pairing process; it should not be assumed to be plug-and-play.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use the headset without G HUB?

Basic wired or wireless audio can work without G HUB, but G HUB is needed for supported PC profiles, sleep settings, lighting, EQ, and DTS controls.

What if the adapter LED never blinks?

Try a direct USB port and another computer. If the adapter still shows no response, suspect the USB path or adapter hardware before resetting the headset.
