Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem all launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. Capcom announced the same-day releases in 2025; they are no longer upcoming. The Switch 2 versions of 7 and Village are Gold Editions, while Requiem is available in standard and Deluxe editions.
When did the Resident Evil games launch on Switch 2?
All three arrived together on February 27, 2026. Capcom’s September 16, 2025 announcement listed that date for Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2.
These are Switch 2 releases, distinct from the earlier Nintendo Switch cloud versions: Capcom listed Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 separately, with separate release dates. The official announcements establish the platform and launch dates, but do not provide comparative performance measurements, so they do not support claims about frame rates or visual settings.
What editions are available?
Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Resident Evil Village
Nintendo Japan’s launch coverage identifies the Switch 2 releases of Resident Evil 7 and Village as Gold Editions, which include additional stories and other add-on content. Check the edition details shown for your region before buying, since the source does not establish that every store or territory offers an identical product configuration.

- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom describes Requiem as the ninth mainline Resident Evil entry and a survival horror game. Nintendo’s UK product listing says the Deluxe Edition includes the full game and a Deluxe Kit: five costumes, two filters, four weapon skins, two charms, an audio pack, and files. That same UK listing gives a 28.7 GB download size and a PEGI 18 rating; those are UK listing details, not universal specifications for every region.
How can you play Requiem, and what accessories are available?
Nintendo’s UK listing says Requiem supports handheld, tabletop, and TV play on Switch 2. Nintendo Japan also announced a Requiem-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller, and said Grace and Leon amiibo would launch on July 30, 2026; scanning the amiibo unlocks weapon skins. Nintendo’s February 27, 2026 article also described a Resident Evil 30th Special Pack bundling Requiem Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 7, and Village. Availability and included formats can vary by region and over time, so check local listings before relying on current stock or assuming a physical edition is a cartridge.

What is known about sales?
Capcom reported more than 174 million cumulative Resident Evil game sales as of June 30, 2025. That is a franchise-wide total, not a sales figure for the Switch 2 versions of these three games; Capcom did not establish a Switch 2-specific figure in the announcements cited here.
