There is no verified canon list of Resident Evil monsters Leon Kennedy cannot defeat alone. The strongest official examples tied to that idea are the Resident Evil 4 (2023) remake’s knife duel with Krauser and its encounter with two Gigantes. Capcom’s promotional description presents these as major confrontations, but does not say Leon needs another character to win. That distinction matters: an ally being nearby, a game supporting co-op, or a boss being difficult is not the same as the story requiring help.
Which Resident Evil monsters did Leon need help fighting?
The evidence available supports a careful answer rather than a definitive monster-by-monster ranking. Capcom’s official material highlights two demanding Resident Evil 4 remake encounters, but it does not establish that either requires an ally. One is a human opponent, not a monster; the other is a two-monster fight.

Edsö’s post is promotional material describing trailer footage, not a claim that either encounter is impossible to complete solo. It supports calling these major or daunting encounters, not asserting a canon requirement for help. PlayStation Blog, February 23, 2023.
Could Leon beat these Resident Evil bosses alone?
The cited official sources do not settle that question for Krauser or the Gigantes. They document the encounters, but not whether another character must physically intervene, creates a tactical opening, or simply accompanies Leon. Nor do they establish a comprehensive canon list of creatures Leon could not defeat solo. So the most accurate answer is: these are plausible examples of formidable fights, not proven cases of a monster Leon cannot beat alone.

What counts as “help”?
- Direct intervention: an ally fights the enemy, rescues Leon, or otherwise changes the outcome during the encounter.
- Tactical support: another character creates an opening or helps Leon manage the threat without fighting it directly.
- External or scripted support: equipment, environmental events, or a story intervention assists Leon.
- Company is not proof: an ally appearing in the same chapter, or a game offering co-op, does not by itself mean the story requires that ally to defeat the enemy.
Each example needs to be judged against the particular game and version. Original releases and remakes can stage encounters differently, so a scene in the 2023 remake should not automatically be treated as evidence about the 2005 original.
Where these encounters fit in Leon’s Resident Evil story
Capcom’s official chronology places Resident Evil 2 (1998), Resident Evil 4 (2005), Resident Evil 6 (2012), Resident Evil 2 (2019 remake), and Resident Evil 4 (2023 remake) among the series’ releases. Its Leon feature covers his first arrival in Raccoon City in Resident Evil 2, his storyline in Resident Evil 6, and a scene involving partner Helena. That wider history supplies context for Leon’s recurring partnerships, but it does not identify a full set of monsters he canonically cannot defeat without help. Capcom describes Resident Evil as survival horror built around fear, combat, exploration, and puzzle solving. A demanding encounter in that kind of game can involve resource management, positioning, or puzzle elements, but those general series features do not prove that a particular enemy requires a partner. The available official sources are strong for release chronology and the remake trailer descriptions; they do not establish outcomes for every Leon boss fight or a formal solo-defeat standard. Capcom’s million-seller titles list also reports that the series had sold over 170 million units as of March 31, 2025, a franchise-wide figure rather than evidence about any specific encounter.
