Resident Evil Requiem rewards different habits for its two protagonists. As Grace, treat every item as a limited investment: study threats, decide whether a fight is necessary, and convert infected blood into the tool that solves your immediate problem. As Leon, use a broader combat kit—firearms, hatchet, melee attacks, parries and confiscated weapons—while keeping ammunition and recovery items organized in the attaché case. Both characters can switch freely between first- and third-person views, so use whichever perspective gives you the clearest, most comfortable control rather than expecting a hidden damage or stealth bonus.

Start with the two different resource economies

The official PlayStation and Nintendo descriptions present Grace and Leon as deliberately contrasting survival-horror roles. Grace’s supplies are constrained by what she can find and carry, and her survival depends on analyzing a threat before committing resources. Leon has a larger direct-combat toolkit, but that does not make ammunition or healing disposable: his listed systems are built around choosing the right weapon, managing the attaché case and improving equipment with customizable parts.

Question Grace Leon
Primary decision Is this threat worth spending scarce supplies on, or can it be avoided? Which part of the combat toolkit handles this encounter most efficiently?
Resource focus Supplies she can obtain and carry; infected blood used for crafting Firearms, ammunition, recovery items, melee tools and weapon parts
Combat alternatives Threat analysis, evasion and crafted solutions Firearms, hatchet, melee attacks, parries and confiscated enemy weapons
Inventory practice Protect room for the item that solves the next problem Organize ammunition and recovery items so the needed tool is accessible before a fight
Perspective First person or third person; switchable during play First person or third person; switchable during play

These are system-level priorities, not a promise that one character is always safer or that one weapon is universally best. The available material does not establish exact inventory capacities, enemy weaknesses, damage thresholds or optimal upgrade orders.

How to manage Grace’s supplies

1. Read the encounter before spending anything

The official descriptions specifically make threat analysis and the fight-or-flee decision central to Grace’s survival. Use that principle as a short pre-combat checklist:

#1 Best Overall
Resident Evil Requiem Amazon Exclusive Edition - PlayStation 5
  • Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
  • Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
  • For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
  • An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
  • Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
  1. Identify the objective. If the threat is not blocking the item, door or route you need, avoid treating it as a mandatory battle.
  2. Check the space. Look for a way around the enemy and note whether the room gives you enough room to retreat. Do not assume an apparent opening remains safe after you move.
  3. Price the fight. Consider the ammunition, healing item or crafted tool you would have to spend, then compare that cost with the value of clearing the route.
  4. Commit only when the result matters. Fight when the enemy controls the path, threatens a required interaction or cannot reasonably be bypassed. Otherwise, preserve supplies for a later bottleneck.

This is an inference from the stated systems rather than a route-by-route walkthrough. The game’s exact enemy behavior and difficulty scaling are not established here, so observe each situation instead of applying one universal rule.

2. Treat infected blood as a conversion decision

Grace can use blood from infected enemies to craft items, ammunition and injectors capable of taking down an enemy in one hit, according to the official game descriptions. The important skill is not memorizing a supposed “best recipe”; no complete recipe or cost table is established. Instead, ask what problem the conversion solves now.

  • Immediate survival: If you are injured or trapped, a recovery item may have more value than saving blood for a theoretical later fight.
  • Access: If one dangerous target blocks a required route, an injector or ammunition can turn that specific obstacle into progress.
  • Avoidance: If the room can be crossed quietly, spending blood on combat may defeat the purpose of preserving supplies.
  • Flexibility: Avoid converting every reserve at the first opportunity. Keeping options open matters when the next encounter is unknown.

Do not infer a guaranteed one-hit result against every enemy type from the official wording. The confirmed point is that injectors can take down enemies in one hit; enemy-specific conditions are not supplied.

3. Use limited inventory as a planning constraint

A Windows Central review reports that Grace’s sections involve limited inventory, stealth and light play, and that stealth can conserve ammunition. That observation supports a practical routine: before entering an unfamiliar area, keep the supplies needed for the next objective accessible and avoid filling every slot with items that serve the same purpose. If you find a safer route, the ammunition you did not spend remains available for a situation where avoidance fails.

The same review reports corpse-related threats. Treat fallen enemies as part of the room’s ongoing risk rather than assuming a defeated body permanently makes an area safe. Because this is a reviewer’s observation rather than a complete enemy-behavior specification, inspect the space after an encounter and avoid claiming that every corpse behaves identically.

4. Plan around the save rules you choose

Windows Central also reports a Classic save mode that requires Ink Ribbons. If you select that mode, an Ink Ribbon is itself a resource decision: save before a meaningful risk or major objective, but do not assume unlimited manual checkpoints. The report does not establish the full save schedule, ribbon count or how every difficulty setting changes saving, so consult the in-game rules for your selected mode and adapt your route planning accordingly.

How to survive encounters as Leon

1. Enter with a case that supports the next fight

Official descriptions say Leon’s ammunition and recovery items are organized in an attaché case. Before interacting with a dangerous area, check that the items you may need are arranged where you can reach them without hurried sorting. The official descriptions do not establish the case’s exact capacity or a best layout, so use a simple priority order:

  1. Put the ammunition for your most likely firearm where it is easy to select.
  2. Keep at least one recovery option accessible rather than buried behind spare weapons or parts.
  3. Separate tools you expect to use immediately from supplies reserved for a later section.
  4. Leave room for newly found ammunition, healing items or confiscated weapons instead of carrying a full case into every room.

This organization reduces decision time; it does not increase the underlying amount of damage or ammunition available.

2. Choose the least expensive tool that solves the problem

Leon’s confirmed toolkit includes firearms, a hatchet, melee attacks, parries and enemy weapons taken during play. Use those options as a ladder rather than opening every encounter with your most valuable ammunition.

  • Platform: Xbox Series X
  • Genre: Action - Horror
  • Condition: New and Sealed
  • Edition: Standard
  • Firearms: Use them when distance, timing or a dangerous target makes close contact too risky. Fire only when the shot advances the objective; the available evidence does not provide enemy-specific hit counts.
  • Hatchet and melee: These give you non-firearm options when positioning makes close combat reasonable. They are not proof that every enemy should be fought at close range.
  • Parries: A successful parry can create an opening, but the sources do not establish its timing window or reliability against every attack. Practice the mechanic in situations where a mistake will not strand you without recovery.
  • Confiscated enemy weapons: Treat a recovered weapon as an opportunity to solve the current encounter without spending your stored ammunition. Check its condition and usefulness before carrying it at the expense of healing or primary ammunition.

The correct choice depends on space, enemy pressure and what you must protect for the next section. No single weapon, combo or ammunition threshold is supported as universally optimal.

3. Upgrade for a problem you can name

The official descriptions say Leon’s weapons accept customizable parts. When an upgrade becomes available, tie it to a concrete need—such as making a familiar weapon more useful in the kind of engagement you are actually facing—rather than assuming an undocumented upgrade order. Since exact part effects, costs and progression are not provided, compare the in-game descriptions and keep enough flexibility for later discoveries.

Fight, flee or reposition: a practical decision framework

For Grace

  1. Observe first: identify the threat, exits and the interaction you need.
  2. Test avoidance: if the route remains open, move quietly and preserve ammunition.
  3. Reassess after movement: if the enemy now controls the only path, decide whether a crafted item or ammunition purchase is justified.
  4. Spend with a purpose: use blood-derived crafting to remove the specific bottleneck, not simply because blood is available.
  5. Secure the aftermath: check for corpse-related danger, collect only supplies that support the next objective and leave room for new items.

For Leon

  1. Organize before contact: make the likely firearm, recovery item and any relevant tool easy to select.
  2. Read distance and terrain: decide whether firearms, melee, a hatchet, a parry or a confiscated weapon gives you the safest solution.
  3. Preserve the case: do not spend healing or ammunition merely to clear an enemy that can be bypassed without unacceptable risk.
  4. Use the opening: after a parry, stagger or reposition, finish the objective rather than extending a fight for unnecessary kills.
  5. Repack afterward: restore your case layout and replace the item you consumed before moving into the next unknown area.

Choosing first person or third person

Both Grace and Leon can be played in first- or third-person perspective. Capcom’s game information and the official PlayStation page describe switching freely during gameplay. Select the view that makes your movement, threat recognition and item handling clearest. First person may feel more direct for players who prefer an over-the-weapon viewpoint; third person may make spatial positioning easier for players who want to see the character and nearby surroundings. Those are usability preferences, not documented damage, stealth or survival bonuses. Switch when a room’s geometry or your own visibility makes the alternative clearer.

What is confirmed—and what is not

Resident Evil Requiem released on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, according to Capcom. Capcom has also said it planned ongoing support and additional content, so platform features, balance and encounter details can change with updates. Check the version and patch notes for your platform before relying on a later-specific tactic.

  • Confirmed: Grace has limited supplies, analyzes threats, and crafts items, ammunition and one-hit injectors from infected blood.
  • Confirmed: Leon uses firearms, a hatchet, melee attacks, parries, confiscated enemy weapons, an attaché case and customizable weapon parts.
  • Confirmed: both characters support freely switchable first- and third-person views.
  • Reviewer-reported: Grace segments feature limited inventory, stealth, light play, corpse-related threats and a Classic mode using Ink Ribbons.
  • Not established: exact recipes, crafting costs, inventory capacities, enemy weaknesses, damage thresholds, difficulty scaling, route-specific solutions and a universal upgrade path.

The most reliable habit is therefore character-specific: as Grace, make every supply spend answer a demonstrated threat; as Leon, organize the case and rotate tools so ammunition is only one part of your combat plan.
