If you want prerecorded videos to run continuously on YouTube without keeping a computer on, choose a cloud looping service rather than assuming a multistreaming tool will loop videos for you. StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, supports up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Gyre is another cloud option documented for playlist-based 24/7 streams. Restream is better suited to sending a YouTube stream to multiple destinations; its documentation covers connecting YouTube and stream duration, not a native prerecorded-video loop.
Which Restream alternative fits a 24/7 YouTube stream?
Pick based on what you need the service to do. For a prerecorded playlist that should loop while your computer is off, compare cloud streaming services. For one feed sent to YouTube and other destinations, Restream may still fit. If you want direct control and can keep your own equipment and internet connection running, use a local encoder such as OBS or a standalone encoder.
| Option | Best fit | What is established | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud playback of uploaded videos on a continuous YouTube stream | Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream. It loops from the cloud; the computer can be off. | Storage across your slots, playlist needs, billing period, and whether your files fit the 10 GB per-slot allowance pooled across active slots. |
| Gyre | Cloud looping of prerecorded videos | Gyre describes uploading files, arranging a playlist, scheduling it, and streaming continuously. YouTube lists Gyre in its verified encoder catalog. | Current price, stream capacity, storage, output options, and scheduling features. |
| Restream | Multistreaming a YouTube feed to other destinations | Restream documents connecting a YouTube channel and its duration behavior; the reviewed documentation does not establish a native prerecorded-video loop. | Whether your workflow actually requires multiple destinations, restart cadence, and archive expectations. |
| Local encoder | Direct control using your own always-on computer or hardware | YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders. You configure video settings in the encoder and send the stream to YouTube. | Power, network continuity, device capability, encoder configuration, and operator availability. |
What Restream’s duration guidance means
YouTube duration is not the same as Restream uptime
YouTube sets no fixed duration limit for a live stream, but that does not guarantee uninterrupted service from an encoder or relay. Restream says its servers may be restarted for maintenance during streams longer than 24 hours and advises restarting every 24 hours. That is Restream’s operational guidance, not a YouTube-imposed cap. See Restream’s duration guidance.
Do not assume a 24/7 stream will become one complete VOD
Restream’s YouTube guide says it archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. A continuous broadcast may therefore not produce one full-length archive. This is Restream’s description of archive behavior, not an independent test. Check the current Restream YouTube instructions if saving a VOD matters.

Scheduled YouTube events
Restream says a scheduled YouTube event can be started early or late without a timing restriction. That addresses event timing; it does not establish that Restream will loop prerecorded files continuously. Details are in Restream’s scheduled-stream guidance.

Gyre: verify current plan limits
Gyre describes a cloud workflow for uploading videos, assembling a looping playlist, scheduling it, and streaming continuously. YouTube’s encoder catalog identifies Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. Gyre’s official page displayed a seven-day trial and monthly plans at $49, $99, and $169 when accessed on 2026-10-03; these figures and available features can change. The plans differ in stream capacity, storage, and output options, so confirm current terms on Gyre’s official page before paying.
Set up a local encoder instead
A local encoder sends video from your own computer or hardware to YouTube. YouTube describes encoders as software or hardware that convert outgoing video to a digital format for streaming. Use this route only if you can keep the equipment, power, network, and encoder process running.

- Check channel eligibility first. In YouTube Studio, confirm that live streaming is available for the channel. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; initial activation can take up to 24 hours. The cited eligibility guidance says streamers must be at least 16. Read YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Create or select the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room and create or select the stream you intend to use. Copy its stream key into the encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Configure the encoder. Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to match the source and your available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance rather than guessing values; the appropriate settings depend on the output format and target quality.
- Start the encoder and confirm the preview. Check that YouTube receives a stable signal and that the picture and audio look right before making the stream public or launching a long-running broadcast.
- Keep the entire chain available. Disable sleep and planned shutdowns, keep the encoder process running, and monitor local power and internet. A home connection drop or computer restart can interrupt the stream even if YouTube itself remains available.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start your free first day.
Before launching a continuous stream
Check rights and YouTube policies
Continuous playback does not exempt a stream from YouTube rules. Live streams must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and YouTube may restrict live-stream access. Confirm that you have rights to the video, music, and other material you broadcast. Reused-content eligibility, copyright outcomes, monetization, and advertiser suitability depend on the channel and content; the cited sources do not establish that any particular loop qualifies. Review YouTube’s live-streaming guidance and your account’s current policy notices before launch.

Plan for storage and archives
For cloud services, check how much source material fits the included storage and whether the service’s plan supports your required stream count and output. Separately, confirm YouTube’s archive behavior for the service you use; continuous transmission does not itself promise a single complete VOD.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting a 24/7 YouTube stream
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube will not let the channel go live | Eligibility is not enabled, verification is incomplete, or the channel has a restriction. | Check channel verification and live-stream status in YouTube Studio. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours; consult YouTube’s eligibility guidance. |
| The encoder cannot connect | Incorrect or outdated stream key, wrong destination settings, or a connection/configuration problem. | Confirm the selected YouTube stream and key, then verify the encoder’s destination and RTMPS settings against YouTube’s encoder guidance. Regenerate a compromised key. |
| The stream stops after many hours | A local computer or network interruption, or a service-side maintenance restart. | For a local encoder, inspect sleep, power, network, and process logs. Restream users should account for its advice to restart streams every 24 hours. |
| The full broadcast is missing from archives | The service or YouTube archive behavior may not preserve a continuous stream as one VOD. | Restream says it archives streams shorter than 12 hours; check the current service guidance and do not rely on one full-length archive for a 24/7 run. |
| Video stutters or quality is poor | The selected output settings may exceed the encoder or upload connection’s capacity. | Compare resolution, frame rate, and bitrate with YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings and test the signal before a long broadcast. |
